In a live cash game of no limit Texas Hold'em, 4 handed, I am in UTG with a stack of 6270 holding a hand of QQ. the blinds are 10/20. I raised to 50, player in dealer seat raised to 100, I raised to 170. SB and BB called. Dealer folded. SB was deeper in stack than me.
Flop: 9TJ rainbow
SB bet 500 which is full pot.
BB folded, I called.
Pot: 1500 Turn: 9 SB bet 2000. I hesitated over whether I should just call or push shove. I decided to just call
Table is very loose passive except for the two players on H's left. People are going to the mats with TPGK, 2ndNFD, OESD without clean outs, etc. Game is deep but capped at 500$. I've played one or two hands and lost half my stack and plan to just rip the rest in and go home.
HH: H opens AKo UTG, LP unknown 3-bets 2.5x from CO, V1 cold calls SB, H 4-bets 2.5x more, CO calls, V1 calls. 3-ways checks all the way down on J-7-
Action folds to me in the button. I look down at T♥9♠ and open to $15. SB folds and a regular rec opponent of mine calls in the BB. I have $500 behind and I have him covered.
The flop comes down 9♣9♥7♣ and villain leads for $20. I call.
The turn is the 6♥. Villian bets $60, I call.
The river is the K♦. Villain checks, I bet $125 for value. Villain waits for a moment and then jams for $400.
Villain 1 = utg with ~100bb Villain 2 = utg+1 with ~200bb Villain 3 = c/o with ~80bb Hero = button with ~200bb
Villains 1 & 2 are very loose and frequently raise or call raises pf, on flop, etc Villain 3 has decent knowledge of the game. He makes some loose calls but he definitely has awareness.
PF action: villain 1 open raises to $25 (not terribly abnormal for him). Villain 2 calls (also pretty standard). Villain 3 also calls. Hero calls (pr
1/2 nl, $500 buy-in. The villain was one of those guys with sunglasses and backpack and all that. At this point I don't know much about how he plays except I see him 3-betting preflop a lot. Shortly before this hand, I had 4-bet him pre and he folded. It may have been getting a little competitive between us but only mildly.
Now the hand. Some people limp. Hero has Ac3c on the BTN, raises to $15. Villain in SB 3-bets to $60. Hero calls.
Very deep $2/5 game, effective stacks $2,300. I am new to this table don't know any of the players but have seen the limper play fishy One limper to me on the btn with T9c I open to $20 get called from the sb and the limper calls (utg).
Pot ~60 Flop: 6c,7c,2h Sb checks, limper donks $30 ( he is not a thinking player) I just call on the btn with my combo draw. Sb CR to $130, limper calls I overcall.
So villain is OMC like - old, seen him min 3b pre with AA, xb rivers when the river is sort of scary but u should bet (like he has AK on AK249 and flush comes in and it’s x to him), bets way too big to deny equity, etc. So he raises to 15, another player calls, i 3b to 50 with AQ, only he calls.
FLOP A 57r $118
x, i bet 25, he xr to 50, i call
seems like i should just fold at this point. i doubt he is raising anything that AQ beats….Ax that i
Eff stack 5K. Hero/villain are the two biggest stacks at the table and have been playing quite a bit against each other. Villain is a LAG opponent playing down in stakes (typically a 10/10/25 player).
Preflop: Villain (UTG+3) raises to 35 Folds to hero (BB) with Q♥Q♦ Hero 3 bet BB to 150. Villain calls.
Hero ($500) - Been playing at this table for only 1 hour. I've been aggressive in a few spots, 3-bet once, and folded to a jam.
BU ($500+) - A new player at the table. I haven't seen a showdown from him yet, but I'm fairly certain he's not very good. Appears to be a recreational player who likes to see flops.
MP limps, Hero(HJ) K♥J♦ raises to $25, BU calls, MP calls
A Clueless NL Noob Reaches 1000 Hours of Live 1/3 NL
Hi, I’m gobbledygeek! I’ve just reached 1000 hours of live 1/3 NL!
Who This Post Is For:
This post is for fellow clueless NL noobs! Maybe you’ve never played poker before and are wondering what’s possible at this live low stakes NL game and how to go about winning at it. Or perhaps you’ve played the Limit version of the game (which I did initially) and are looking to turn to the dark side
So villain is loose pre, limps etc but other than that i dont really know much. We did play a hand a few sess ago where he donked turn when i had KK on a Q high board where he made a straight then river came a flush completing card and he x to me so i vb thinking he had Q - he tank called. And he’s caught me bluffing smal before.
i do think he won’t 3b his straddle here with a trash hand - most like top 15% or whatever. 99+,
2/3 500 max, 8 handed, I sat down 3 hands ago while I was UTG and now on the button,
Villain is effective stack ~460 Villain is UTG Villain is top 10-15% in 2/3 player pool and uncertain if studied;
Villain opens UTG to 15, UTG +1 calls, hero on button 3b! With AKss to 60, UTG thinks for about 30-45 seconds and 4b! To 170, UTG+1 calls and hero thinks and calls.
Hero: I rarely have a 5b! Range to protect my overall range Think flatting vs a good p
2/5, 8 Max, $1000 max bi, 4th hand on a newly opened feeder table so all my reads are tenative. All players are new to me except V3.
V1 UTG, mawg, opens to 15. He's played every hand so far on a seemingly fit or fold (FOF) basis.
V2 utg+1, owg, FOF style, 75% vpip, calls.
V3 in LJ, mabg, total spaz who I have history with, makes lots of moves, vpip = 90%, extremely bad. Buys in small at $300 repeatedly. Extra loose till he doubles or trip
This $2/5 games plays deep with a $2k cap and often runs as $2/5/10. This hand was not straddled.
Hero jams KK overpair on dry run out, paired board in 3b pot SB v CO. I believe board was 8hi with the flop being QQ6
Jam is $1200 effective into a $900 pot targeting calls from smaller overpairs from what appears to be a very capable player. I could have just value bet something like $700 I guess but I thought polarizing was better to get max va
These are acronyms that you'll see often in posts ITF (In this Forum). If you think of one that should be added, or run in to one that isn't on the list, please post ITT (In This Thread), and we'll add it.
2p - Two Pair 3-bet - A re-raise. The third bet on a given street 3b - 3-bet 3! - 3-bet 4-bet - a re-re-raise. The fourth bet on a given street 5-bet - come on. You get the pattern. o - (eg JTo) The cards are not suited
I am thinking that the biggest likelihood here is that I am probably up against a flush. There is the possibility of 2 pair or a set however I think that most of the t
Villain (UTG+1) is relatively new to the table, no significant reads but I've seen him before at these stakes. Seems to be a capable, thinking player. Young-middle aged asian guy.
UTG limps Villain raises to 50 UTG+1 Hero calls with 2♣2♥ in CO. SB calls. BB folds. Limper folds.
Sort of an offshoot topic. I've never been on a cruise but a guy in my room recently went on one to St. Kitts and said he played poker the entire time and that it was the easiest winnings of his life. Is it possible to pay for your entire cruise by crushing old geezers at the SS poker table?
