SIDES - Inaugural Game Thread
Welcome! This is the beta version of the new TwoPlusTwo forum.

SIDES - Inaugural Game Thread

In this thread, we will play a new word game called Sides. It's somewhat similar to codenames, but cooperative and different.

Sign up with /in below if you want to play.

In this game, a target word will be randed as will a row of 7 cards that have letters on them (most 1 letter, some 2/3/4 letters).

2 people will be the guessers and everyone else will be able to give a clue.

The clue given must start with the letter on either the first or last card (the 'sides' of the row).

We discuss as a team who will give the clue with open discussion in the thread such as "I have a 7 letter word starting with a C"

Once there is some agreement on who gives the clue, that person will bold the clue they want to give in the thread.

The two guessers will then discuss in the thread and bold their guess. If it's correct, we move on to the next guessers and the next word. If wrong, then the clue givers post some info like "you are warm" or "you are about 30% there" etc to give directional info on how on track/off track their guess is.

Then they discuss and give another clue. But the person who bolded a clue cannot give another clue for the same word until everyone on the cluing side has clued a word (if we take that long to get the word), so one person can't hog the cluing.

Clues have to be one word, or an acronym, etc like in codenames; they can be hyphenated words

We can also give some info on how the clues relate to each other, or even say a clue is a 0 clue, so the opposite of what cluing for (e.g., clue 'colorful' as an opposite clue because the word is zebra)

I'll provide more details and examples in the thread in the morning, but this should be enough info for you to /in and join so we can play.

Yh see i dont know either filthy

Id b happy going with space ship if they werent so concinced we'd get this

by filthyvermin k

rocket ship?

Lets maybr bold this

or maybe missile silo

but i think rocket ship is better

bold it

rocket ship

good job

by Nicholasp27 k

L8 is first thing that comes to mind for this

launcher: rocket launcher first thing that comes to mind

by IBeDrummin k

Yeah, I’m on A7 and nothing else. It’s literally the same.

still interested in what a7 is; can't be aircraft

by Nicholasp27 k

A6 also in the domain but gets them to guess something else instead

Apollo; same domain but gets you to guess space shuttle, not rocket

by Nicholasp27 k

L9 def better than l8

L8 and l9 both similar to l6

launchpad better than launcher; both similar to l6 launch

by Nicholasp27 k

when you think of our target, you think of L8
but when you think of L9, you think of our target

I still haven't figured out a7

when you think of rocket, you think of launcher, but when you think of launchpad, you think of rockets; space shuttles and other things are options also, but you don't launch anything off a launchpad unless a rocket is attached to it (and apollo would be the space shuttle clue, as you said)

nice job working it out

Dece clues n logic

Also props to filthy

Round 7:

Cards used: 7

Guessers: zeus/d1

The Board:

C | S | RG | IH | JOVW | T | A

The target word:
I've pmed it to ibd/bolt/filthy/ervin

oops, I sent to d1 instead of bolt

ignore first word (bar); i'll send a new word

(too bad: Cheers woulda been lock clue for Bar)

c4 is ok but lots of ways they could go; s3 would get them back to the word, but that's 2 turns

s6 would be a term zeus knows; not sure about d1; I think it's a lock if we get to that letter

I didn't know arugula was called rocket; that was def a high risk line to take

What we yanks know as arugula, DZ knows as rocket. It was just a matter of whether DZ knew that arugula = rocket. And also could’ve just led them to greens/lettuce/salad, etc. So it was fine that we didn’t go with it.

It’s like eggplant/aubergine and zucchini/courgette

C11 could be a winner

yeah, c11 is a winner

and s6 will be a slam dunk if c11 fails

but I think c11 works great

I actually would get this as i use american recipes alot

Nice job on rocket!

My other L6 was League so if they thought of it would just serve as confirmation

Having trouble thinking of the c11 but if it's a winner go for it

I thought of c4, a c8. S3/S6 could help too but yea, sounds like u guys know an extra good one

If C11 is what I think it is then I like [strike]C13[/strike] C15 better.

I'm not sure what c13 is; can't think of a one word answer that has 13 letters

I fixed my post. I was thinking of a C15 all along and had trouble counting.

c15 is what I was thinking of, but it's 2 words, not one

Well now I have 2 different C11 clues and I hope you're thinking of the right one.
