Potawatomi (Milwaukee, WI)
Last march I moved to Vegas from Milwaukee where I played semiregularly live at Potowatomi in the 2/5 game.
The casino was still under construction before I left and I never got to see the completed room.
I'm wondering if there are any poto regs that can give me an update on it.
I remember there was a plo game on the weekends.
Does that still run? Buyin/blinds? is it still 2/3 plo 1/3 nl/pl?
Does poto get a 5-10 now?
Bascially just wondering how the new room compares to the old room?
Thanks

Poto had always been a joke. I always loved the 20+ wait lists with 14 empty tables staring at you. No thanks.
Welcome to the forums .. that's a hard line to take for a newbie ..
You said 'had' been, does that mean you're hoping for better this time around or did you mean 'has' been? I don't seem to remember too many negative comments from when the room was open before. 4x MSPT events, 2x WSOPc events along with some of their own tournaments really made this room shine.
I'm not a Reg, but I do have some connections with Regs and can't recall any issues with waitlists other than the normal deep lists of Fri/Sat night. I think the room had 20 tables before and I certainly don't remember 14 of them being empty during peak times. GL
For a while the PLO was -
Mon $1-2-5 PLO/PLO8 RxR
Wed $5-5 PLO
Thu $1-2 PLO/PLO8 RxR
Fri $5-10 PLO
Sat $1-2-5 PLO
Here's the old Thursday RxR game in 2017. The guy with the black stack can't wait to get his chips in also.
How have the waits been? I came by opening weekend and waited 3 hours and haven't been back. I looked at Bravo Sat and saw 60+ on the list.
I’ve been a couple times after opening weekend on a Saturday late afternoon/early evening. I jumped on waitlist on bravo about an hour prior to arriving and still had about an hour until called.
Dealer availability for them to open tables seems to be the key as there are plenty of people checked in and ready to play but seems like waiting for dealers to start new tables. That’s my guess
Potowatomi Poker Room Is Now On Yelp! This Site Is Separate From The Casino Yelp.
Any good hotels close? Thinking of headed that way for the first time for a 4 day weekend and rates Im getting from their site is like $400 a nt. Thanks.
Yes, weekend rates are going to be 'up there' at any casino .. and I don't think I'd look into anything within walking distance! Just use the normal channels you might for travel. The phone number I had for the Poker Room doesn't work and they don't list one on Bravo. It's doubtful, but possible that you could get a 'poker' rate in the hotel or they might have partner hotels they send folks to when they are full. GL
Thanks. I guess walking the 1.5 miles to a Brewers game wouldn't be smart either?
Uber or taxi to the game, or walk is probably fine during daylight.
Hourly shuttles to and from hotels

Some decent Airbnb inventory too. Many places within 15 minutes of casino
There is No poker rate - I have asked. There is definitely No phone. You may operate from the Bravo App only.
Is there any consistency in which the 5/5 PLO game will run here?
I see a waitlist almost every night on bravo but the game never opens.
The last time around PLO was always hit or miss with the obvious Fri/Sat being the best opportunity. At that time the Player Pool was pretty tight as well. I remember last session I played a Reg took a beat from a Drunk Rec who was making a show of every decision .. and about 45-60 seconds too. The guy was pulling out a $10k plus wad tp rebuy with but just happened to catch a hand against this guy. So this guy gets mad and says he can't stick around for this guys antics, and leaves. Then two more Regs decide that the game is 'too short' and rack up .. pretty much killing the game and so the Rec goes off to the pits. Not the smartest Reg moves I've seen.
While the 5/5 games seems more attractive due to stack sizes you should evaluate the Players as well. In the sessions I've played at Rivers I found the 1/2 PLO much more attractive and easier to navigate with more random Players waiting for NL (or the 5/5 and trying to be a bully) sitting down just to sit down.
What are they doing for rake at 5/5? Rivers is $11/hour time rake, but regular rake at 1/2 PLO.
When it comes to PLO there's always a core group. Ask a Floor if they will give you the contact information for 'the group' and then you can be put in the text chain. GL
When I played 5/5 on opening day, rake was $10 every dealer change if I remember correctly. I haven’t played the 1/2 PLO at poto, but I agree with your remark about player selection is everything. I’ll see if I can join a “text list” hopefully one exists.
Just wish the 5/5 PLO was a scheduled game. Would be nice to plan around as I work full time and can’t always come down to play on a whim.
I ride my bike on the Hank Aaron trail. People will walk from the casino to the stadium. Walking downtown to stadium is possible via the Hank. In the other direction I've seen them walking after a game as far up as 94th St.
Where are you walking from?
MSPT site says theres a TBD date August 22-25. Could it be POTO?
There was a floor person (named Todd) that quit Rivers Casino (floor) to be a “manager” at Potowatomi Poker Room. Haven’t seen him since opening day. He was not America’s Sweetheart at Rivers Casino. Does he still work in the Potowatomi Poker Room?
It'll likely be a Minnesota stop. I didn't see any MN events on the back end. Oh well!
I've walked it several times shrug.
That’s too bad. I remember when the WSOP-C was in town. It did great numbers.
What hours is the poker room open? 24/7?
They are open from 8am and close at 4am
Lots of casinos are shutting down at 3-4am these days. Just so much easier on the schedule (especially manager/floors). It allows for cleaning and box changeout as well when no patrons are around.
Could they consider 24 hours Fri 8am to Mon 4am? Sure, and they could come Fall when the weather changes .. and the staff has their legs under them. The issue is what are they really gaining for the effort that needs to be put into sustaining staff?
Yes, breaking that juicy game with the out of town whale sitting will sting, but management (and administration) needs to consider the 52-week numbers not just what might happen 7-10 times over 104 different 1/2 shifts. There wont be any food service support for sure! GL
What is the point or benefit of this?
It depends on how they set it up .. if I were them I would put an emphasis on the restaurants and perhaps the hotel. Putting a sole listing on it for the Poker Room seems a stretch but a search is a search is a search for someone putting in a key word 'poker'. GL
