***Say Hello to Amy March LC Thread***
You may also find Ms. Pugh in Dune 2, which lives up to the hype and is worth the trip to the theater. And for context,

I'm hip enough to know Florence Pugh but also old enough to know Jethro Pugh.
Speaking of Black Widow, that title was already taken by a good 1987 Bob Rafelson movie starring Debra Winger and Theresa Russell. And not even based on a comic book, imagine that.
I rarely know/remember the names of actors. What's the point?
What’s the point of anything?
Because some actors are better than others? Do you not remember the names of comedians and just show up hoping to like them?
Good actors can be in terrible movies. Terrible actors can be in great movies. Actors come and go. I don't make my choice on what movie to watch based on who is in them. Comedians aren't quite the same thing; they're more like a concert.
Correct. There is never a guarantee of anything. But if the suggestion is that the quality of the cast doesn’t affect the probability of an enjoyable experience at all, that’s absurd.
Lol, Didace deciding to dig in on this one.
Oh, I don't expect anyone to agree with me. That's just the way it is for me.
I'm partially in the Didace camp. There are a few actors I really like, and a few I really avoid. But the vast majority are just faces in the crowd. If I'm undecided about seeing a movie, who is in it may play a part in my decision.
I'm far more familiar with actors from years past than recent ones. I may have been paying more attention when I was younger or perhaps it is simply repetition and familiarity.
Meryl Streep in a part with an accent.
Sounds like a favorite of mine. -- Charlie Robison
What's wrong with my thread?
LOL
You.
How required is Dune viewing before seeing Dune II?
I've also watched the original Dune years ago, and have never read the book(s).
Lol, required.
only read the first, only read the first
highly recommend both approaches
this section of the dune book wiki is amazing
imagine all it would take for Moebius to illustrate this twisting snake of characters captured while digesting its own tail
In December 1974, a French consortium led by Jean-Paul Gibon purchased the film rights from APJ, with Alejandro Jodorowsky set to direct.[96] In 1975, Jodorowsky planned to film the story as a 14-hour feature, set to star his own son Brontis Jodorowsky in the lead role of Paul Atreides, Salvador Dalí as Shaddam IV, Padishah Emperor, Amanda Lear as Princess Irulan, Orson Welles as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Gloria Swanson as Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam, David Carradine as Duke Leto Atreides, Geraldine Chaplin as Lady Jessica, Alain Delon as Duncan Idaho, Hervé Villechaize as Gurney Halleck, Udo Kier as Piter De Vries, and Mick Jagger as Feyd-Rautha. It was at first proposed to score the film with original music by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Henry Cow, and Magma; later on, the soundtrack was to be provided by Pink Floyd.[97] Jodorowsky set up a pre-production unit in Paris consisting of Chris Foss, a British artist who designed covers for science fiction periodicals, Jean Giraud (Moebius), a French illustrator who created and also wrote and drew for Metal Hurlant magazine, and H. R. Giger.[96] Moebius began designing creatures and characters for the film, while Foss was brought in to design the film's space ships and hardware.[96] Giger began designing the Harkonnen Castle based on Moebius's storyboards. Dan O'Bannon was to head the special effects department.[96]
Jean Giraud
you may know him as Moebius from Heavy Metal
still struggling to find similar work from his brothers Larrius and Curlius
It's pretty required. Dune 2 starts basically right after Dune ends, and honestly this is basically just one long movie with a three-year intermission. Dune 2 is the payoff of all the foundation original Dune lays.
I haven't seen the original Dune adaptation though, so perhaps if you remember the story well from that then this would make more sense than someone just going in 100% cold.
Cool thanks guys.
Edit: the original was bonkers imo. Most memorable scene for me was the guy floating around having his puss drained from his sores, who had STING as his underling, and then he pulled out some slaves heart plug or some ****. It was like an acid trip.
Facebook is down. Now how do i kill time instead of working?
Hervé Villechaize as Gurney Halleck
Was that Picard's character in the previous adaptation? I just can't picture it.
Correct. IIRC, Villechaize got another crack at scifi in Dead Dwarf
I just got citric acid in my eye!
