While I wish you luck, I’m sorry to say that is not likely, especially if you really are a complete noob. I would suggest starting slow. There is no “magic list” of things you need to read, videos you need to watch, or courses that you need to take that will make you a success. Gaining knowledge is certainly important, but there is an extremely large amount of knowledge needed to get from “just starting at 2NL” to “crushing 100NL”. Poker is a complicated game to master.

Plus it isnÂ’t just knowledge. Poker requires discipline, patience and really a certain mental make up if you want to succeed. It isnÂ’t enough to know what you should do; you actually have to go out and do it. This isnÂ’t as easy as it sounds. Poker is an EXTREMELY frustrating game. You have to have the ability to overcome your inevitable frustration and not let it throw you off your strategy. Can you play for weeks or maybe months and watch your bankroll declining that whole time and power through without becoming frustrated? Again that is something you likely will experience even if you are crushing a game.

Which leads to a final requirement- financial discipline. How much money do you have available for poker? This MUST be money that you don’t need for bills, rent, food or other life expenses. If you are sitting at the table thinking “If I lose this stack zi won’t have rent money” it WILL affect your game, and not in a good way. You also need to be careful to not play over your bankroll. As I mentioned, long downswings are bound to occur. You need to have a big enough bankroll to overcome these and be able to keep playing. You might need to drop down to lower stakes sometimes. There is no one magic number, but as a winning player, 30 buy ins is a generally accepted number for minimizing risk of busting.

Goals are fine, but unless you are some kind of poker prodigy and already have an extra few thousand dollars lying around for your bankroll, your stated goal seems too lofty. Maybe become a winning player and gain a good understanding of poker fundamentals within a year might be a better goal.

nice response, stremba.

Bassel.... goals are fine. But the one you are seeking will not be possible. I've played over two million hands and... well, I'm still learning.
