WSOP Millionaire Maker: tpgk

From a starting stack of 25k, we have built up and now have been trending down.

Villain is late 60s white guy. Probably trapped in a loveless marriage and plays poker to escape his wife. He is getting a massage. Seems a bit aggro post flop, but hasn’t shown anything crazy since we have been at the table. Might view us as bit spewy

Blinds are 400/800/800
We have 20k effective
Villain covers by a lot (around 100k)
We are 8 handed

Preflop: Hero has K J utg1
Hero raises to 1.8k, villain calls in MP, a few folds, bb calls

Flop: J 3 3
Bb checks, hero checks, villain bets 4.5k, bb folds, hero shoves

I don’t think I can raise anything in this spot that is not all-in. Love it? Hate it?

The KJo open UTG+1 is borderline. I sometimes do it if I have not been raising a lot because my cards have been bad or if all of my hands turned over have been very strong.

The call by MP indicates to me a hand less than AJ and PP < JJ.

Normally on this flop I would bet 1800 but the check is interesting because BB can have a 3 and if MP takes a stab at it BB would c/r and we can fold.

As played the c/r jam is good because MP has position and can check back on the turn with a flush draw or any Ax/Qx and get a free card.

I like it. Just read your other thread and really dig your checks against these player types where most of population just c-bets automatically. I think with no flush draw i prefer x/call but with the flush draw out there the x/jam feels great. That player type with big stack in position will reflexively bet when checked to (especially with your stack size) with most of the hands they'd call with pre here. Since we don't want to see Q/A or spade I think there's enough in there (half our stack) to just want to take it down now. Also, he'll call with QJ/JT putting you on a flush draw so it's not like we're always beat when called. Also, side note, if he somehow called pre with a3h or a3d I think this player type might check back thinking they're being sneaky versus you (who you said they may perceive as spewy and active) so you really only have to worry about AJ.
