Hero call vs Maniac?

Hero call vs Maniac?

$200 live FL tournament. Very fishy. 25 left out of 75, 8 paid. Villain here is a maniac who was opening about 40% of hands. 1 hand earlier, maniac had called off an old guy with 44 on Q78 and was shown QQ, costing him most of his stack.

7 handed. Open QQ to 2.3 BBs EP, maniac calls from MP, folded around. (~7 BBs)

Flop 578 with flush draw (no blockers). I bet 5 BBs. He calls. (17 BBs)

I consider blind ripping for his remaining stack of about 7 BBs but decide against it. Turn 6x. Check check.

River 6x (no flush draw has completed). I check, maniac shoves for about 7 BBs. We have about 10 BBs left.

Advice on all streets welcome.

With ~17 blinds preflop I would bet about 2.1x (min raise) though 2.3x is fine if that is always your pre-flop raise size < 25 bb's.

On this flop which favors Villain's range I would not bet 5 bb's for two reasons. The first is the range issue I will typically make the same 2.3 bb's bet. The second reason is that it is > 33% effective stack which is essentially pot committing. If you really want to bet 5 bb's here because of the overpair then just jam (my guess is we lose anyway but because of the Fold equity it can save us from further damage).

As played on the river it is a very tough spot. My guess is we are losing to either trips or a straight but because of the flush draw it is possible we are ahead of like one pair or worse so I would call.

He only has 12bb left on the flop, correct? If so, I may just open jam flop figuring he calls off with any pair or perhaps go for a x/jam assuming he might stab some of his non equity hands like KTs KJ KQ AT etc when checked to. When we bet 5bb and he calls, pot becomes 17bb and he only has 7bb so we really get put into strange spots after when turn is 4/6/9 or the flush card so might be beneficial for us to try to avoid that situation.

I would definitely jam flop (12 bb effective into 7 bb pot). This is a scary board for queens, you have to protect your hand.

+1 for jam flop.

Betting 5-bigs really doesn’t accomplish anything. Anything that calls 5bbs is probably gonna call the jam. If you’re looking for a potential exit from the hand on subsequent streets why would you bet such a committing size? Theres not enough depth to bet 2/3 pot and fold on this runout imo. Especially vs a maniac who is going to have a lot of punts.

I also dislike opening anything other than 2x without some very specific reasons. I open a lot of hands tho so min opens suit my style.
