Limping in PLO preflop

Limping in PLO preflop

I have never used a limping strategy pre flop but I was watching JNadez play some Coin poker stream and there was an ante.

He used a limping strategy at times. Is this something I should implement in my normal games or is this an ante only strategy?

certain table dynamics like one that had a lot of players/flop where i'm like 200 bb deep utg and behind me are a couple 25-90bb people plus an aggressive btn that has me covered... basically spots you can isolate but otherwise want to control the size of the pot

In live play, I limp very often. It doesn't matter if you raise, you're going 4+ handed to the flop usually.

That is a great guide there for live play imo.

Couldn't tell you for online though

As above .. pot control is the key to 'surviving' Turn aggression, which allows you to see more Rivers IMO in games where you may have an advantage post-Flop.

As Bart Hansen likes to mention .. It's still real money and/or It's still a large bet for the stakes!

While Limping v Opening doesn't change your Pot Odds once the Turn action begins (if the number of Players remains the same) it has a major impact on SPR, which will most definitely affect your ability to steal pots via Turn x/r or River aggression.

In some of my games I rarely Open because 'I know' that an Open is coming anyway .. and that Player will 3b if I open, which will bloat the pot, so why bother?

Another affect it will have is that when you do Open it will be taken more seriously .. as will your 3b/4b. When you feel you have a skill advantage you want to see as many Flops as you can .. and limping can provide a huge boost to your VPiP without always building a Pot.

Annndd another thing, by not 'always' Opening you can throw more curve balls with your Range instead of a more simplified 'Range by Position' information that your Opponents will use.

AAAnnnnnddd another thing, when you can l/r your 3b sizing will be much smaller .. which also keeps the pot and SPR under control. GL

Limping strategies are generally for 40bb and less stacks, at 100b+ it's not really going to be worth studying for most players.
