Grinding Past the Fries
Hello all,
My contract at work finished at the end of March there, and before looking for a new one I've decided to take a couple of months out to see if I can make a living playing poker. If not successful, I can find work no problem, so I'll give it a few months and see how I do. My aim is to move up past 50NL and into the higher limits, whilst still withdrawing regularly to pay for things in my personal life (got a few holidays etc coming up). The month of April was good but not great, so starting fresh from 1st May, I am motivated and committed to the cause!

I felt like I played well yesterday, I lost 100% of flips, so perhaps didn't run as well as I could have. I did get my AA in pre once or twice and held, though.

Again, I played quite well today, but never played all that long. I had a golf competition (waste of time), might play a bit later on tonight.

The 3-better had been 3betting a ton over a small sample (4/500 hands) and the 4-better is a solid aggro reg that is more than good enough to pick up on that and cold 4bet bluff. A bit aggro, but he tank-called, so it nearly worked!

I'll be honest, I thought the first episode was tame in terms of quality/poker content, but it was still VLOG-worthy. It's been really well received in the first few days, one of my best ever early performers.
VLOG #2 above imo is far better, a bit more banter, more big pots/interesting hands, and again it's being very well received so far. Big thanks to those that have tuned in and liked and commented and stuff so far!
I've just finished editing VLOG #3 and it's the best of the 3 so far, really excited to release that in a few days
Unfortunately I'm going to get roasted like the piglet that I am for VLOG #4. I played 3 hands questionably, the first one was a value hand where I don't mind my line, can go either way with all streets. The second hand I had a clear fold OTR for a 1.3x pot shove vs a rec and the guy absolutely gobbled me up and talked me into calling, completely and utterly done me, and the 3rd hand I had top pair and called down a rec who I thought was steaming but he just had better and I should be good enough to make (yet another) solid disciplined fold.
Hope you guys are enjoying the content so far, 2 down, 1 ready, 1 being edited, and about 20 more to be recorded/edited released! It's gonna be a great summer ♥

Haha yeah he's in a bit of punt mode right now, harder than ever :( hopefully he gets past it and finds good controlled aggression, which is a nightmare to play vs live.

Thanks! I use a website called Epidemic Sound, it's a royalty free site. Can't remember what I searched for but I really like the one I found. It'll be used a lot during static WSOP vlogs. On that note...
Any feedback on the WSOP stuff is much appreciated. It's tough to keep it engaging when it's just **** like me walking to a new table and stuff but I tried to keep it flowing. I actually watched Lexy Gavin Mather's VLOGs in between day 3 and day 4 and there's a stark contrast in the editing style between those days. Would love some feedback on the switch.

Really enjoying the uploads mate. Much prefer the irl stuff included as well as just poker hand>poker hand>poker hand but still keeping the mostly poker balance, its tough to find that exact combination. Imo if you watch Dnegs vids its a little too much irl>poker.
If you're comfortable with it the audience like to track results, p/l over the summer, sessions etc etc and alongside this sneak peak or "what happens next" moment to next vlog is huge for retention, you'll understand the eastenders duh duh duh moment, makes people have an active reason to watch next vlog rather than just clicking on.
Thanks for the nice words! I am trying my best to log results but the order in which they are released is starting to muddle a bit, but I will absolutely do a breakdown at the end of the WSOP. Each cash session has results but like I say it's starting to get very muddled up :(
Daniel's VLOGs are very real life heavy as you say, but he can do that, coz he's kid poker and people love to see kid poker's dogs and his coffee machine. My retention numbers are horrid any time I try anything like that. Even the "coming up" thing with all the big pots, you'd be astounded how many people still skip that/click away etc.

I know I say this every few weeks or so but I think this might be my favourite one ever.
I always joke about getting straight to the action, but my good friend Mike Brady told me very early in my VLOG career "People tune in to Brad Owen's VLOG because they like Brad Owen, people who click on your VLOGs are there to see poker. Give them poker." So I was always always getting straight to it, no messing about, etc. It's helped grow the channel but NOW I gotta start building a rapport, so I put myself in there a little more.
i know you'll hate me for this, but this is the exact playbook hoof gp followed
i have subbed his videos for a while and as he's grown, he's gone from just pure hoof content to now each 15 minute episode is about 4-7 minutes of hoof trimming and the rest is him, his crew, etc more of a day in the life
i'm not a fan of the pivot as I just want to see things like puss and rocks removed from hooves, but it's definitely working for him as shown by now when they film the crew in the massive hangar sized garage getting ready to head out for the farms for the day you see his collection of super cars
and his hoof content is still better than the others who just do pure hoof so i can skip forward to the good parts
