He's no longer sure that people aren't filing out of them while he's still ranting.

I don't know if what Kamala said was true, but yeah she planted seeds.

Yep. His insecurities run much deeper than his worshippers believe.

That guy's first customer was the CIA you know.

isn't that why we have the age old saying,

if it's good enough for the cia, then it's good enough for me

It's pretty demonstrably true. They are small crowds to start with.

before you try, that's Trump on stage literally in the picture.

Wow that is a small crowd. But my first thought when looking at the picture is that there is no building nearby that Trump can use to turn the rally into a "let's break into that building and riot."

As crass as Trump is, I'm surprised in the debate he didn't try to claim he had a recent photo shoot with a huuge crowd of about 400,000+ people....Over 400,000 people are buried at Arlington National Cemetery, including veterans, their dependents, and other notable figures.

The most dangerous thing JD Vance has said

JD Vance said that if he’d been vice president on Jan. 6, 2021,
he would have gone along with then-President Donald Trump’s
attempts to delay Congress’ certification of Joe Biden’s victory.

a bright clear warning that he’ll go along with whatever Trump orders him to do

“If I had been vice president, I would have told the states,
like Pennsylvania, Georgia and so many others, that we
needed to have multiple slates of electors and I think
the U.S. Congress should have fought over it from there”

what is the law to someone like Vance,
who has decided that proximity to power is more important

Tariffs are a tax on consumers and a guaranteed way to increase inflation, both for the imported goods they're taxing and for domestic producers opportunistically increasing their prices to match them.

So what your saying is Biden caused inflation because he did not remove Trump's tariffs and passed the Inflation increase act ?

Right, Trump passed the tariffs six years ago but somehow in your mind Biden is the one who uniquely caused the inflation by not repealing them. It must take extraordinary effort to constantly suppress reality.

Given Biden repealed many of trump EOs.. keeping tariffs has the same responsibility as introducing them

It has the same responsibility, not more as implied by that poster.

He has more because of the $ amount as per link i provided. And because he added additional tariffs

I don't know what link you're referring to.

I might not have this right, but weren't the tariffs imposed by trump mostly strategic and punitive in an attempt to level the competitive playing field? And aren't tariffs on china really nothing new?

My point is, and correct me if I'm wrong, he's proposing tariffs on all imports from every country?

Tariffs only "level the playing field" in terms of increasing profits for domestic producers at the expense of consumers. They rarely work and serve as an inflationary tax on consumers.

Trump imposed $80B of tariffs. Biden kept those and imposed $18B in new tariffs about 4 months ago.

That's just false. GDP crashed under Trump. The US had the worst monthly drop in US history between April and June 2020. His mismanagement of the pandemic, especially having Kushner and Pence run the response, destroyed the economy. The choices then were either monthas and months of double digit unemployment or risk high inflation later. Everyone, including Trump and Republicans were unwilling to tolerate high unemployment for that lon

I was very clearly talking about inflation and not the GDP of our economy. We don't have enough time for me to explain the difference between inflation and GDP to you, but there are a lot of good resources you can find on the internet that could help.

I agree with you that trump handled covid poorly. Yes, he did better than any Dem president would have, but we should hold the president to a higher bar than that. He should have fought harder to give less money out and worked harder to make sure the economy didn't partially shut down, but he got pressured by dems.

I went to a few BLM protests during the pandemic. On one side you had Trump supporters, with no masks, waving flags and being obnoxious. On the other side you had people wearing masks, talking respectfully to people on both sides. It was something out of a comic book really.

My friend got punched by a Trump supporter, walking through the cross-walk which divided both sides of the rally, because he had the audacity of being black. No reason,

I am sorry to hear about your friend, but trying to say the BLM was all about people wearing masks and peacefully talking to people on both sides is just silly. We were all alive during it and saw the riots on TV and some of us even in person. You need to wait another 40-50 years before you can change the narrative on the riots.

There are 53 days until the election.

I think Kamala Harris should lightly troll that Donald Trump won't debate her again after she beat him in their only debate. But she should not go so far as to truly push for another debate. Going 1-0 is better than going 1-1 or 1-0-1 this close to the election and having won their only debate so handily.

It seems super odd that trump is saying he wants another debate too and then when their teams negotiate he just insist on fox news hosting to make it 1 right leaning and 2 left leaning debates this year. Her only sit down interview she was babysat by her VP and her only debate had 2 moderators helping her out - no shot she'd sit down for a fair debate.

Biden has reduced some of Trump's tariffs (or sanctions) just not the China ones. I think part of the reason is that China had agreed in 2018 to increase purchases of American goods in order to not have their tariffs increased but they had failed to do what they had agreed to by the time Biden became President. They had only bought about 60% of what they said they would.

Here is an article on all of it

"But in October, the Biden administration made some trade policy changes. It reached an agreement with the European Union to ease Trump-era sanctions on aluminum and steel. As part of the deal, the EU also agreed to drop retaliatory tariffs against American products including Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Kentucky bourbon."

Babs, do you have any thoughts about you boy Trump spreading the most vile racist demagoguery we've seen in modern politics?

tariffs are bad but Biden used them more than Trump

https://taxfoundation.org/research/all/f...

As of March 2024, the trade war tariffs have generated more than $233 billion of higher taxes collected for the US government from US consumers. Of that total, $89 billion, or about 38 percent, was collected during the Trump administration,

by bahbahmickey P

Am I babs and if so what specifically are you referring to?

I was hoping for some kind of denunciation of it. Like, "Yeah I've been carrying water for Trump and apologizing for his behavior for a decade, but even I think this is truly vile and unacceptable" --that sort of thing.

by bahbahmickey P

I assume he is referring to the stuff about Haitian immigrants eating pets in Ohio, but I agree that it could be any number of things.

If these pets belong to billionaires then this is a worrying development and we should all be very concerned. Otherwise, who cares? -babahmickey

Right, Trump passed the tariffs six years ago but somehow in your mind Biden is the one who uniquely caused the inflation by not repealing them. It must take extraordinary effort to constantly suppress reality.

And Once tariffs are in place, there are economic costs to removing them. Tariffs are one of the Econ 101 examples of Ratchet Effects.. So Biden not simply undoing Trump's tariffs doesn't mean they are good, just that undoing them would cause even more job destruction than the tariffs caused in the first place, given we've reached a new equilibrium.

As I've said before I don't personally know the guy and am not a fan of him personally so I don't think I should apologize for what he says or does anymore than you should apologize for what some random murderer did that you don't know.

I do like his policies better than kamala's as I think America as a whole, the poor, the middle class, the rich and most of the world will be better off under him than her. It is a sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me thing for me.

I'm not in ohio and have very little knowledge about what is going on there. I've never been to Haiti either and I'm not sure if eating cats or dogs is something they do. I have been to parts of Asia where eating dog isn't uncommon so I know this happens in other countries.
