SIDES - Inaugural Game Thread
In this thread, we will play a new word game called Sides. It's somewhat similar to codenames, but cooperative and different.

In this game, a target word will be randed as will a row of 7 cards that have letters on them (most 1 letter, some 2/3/4 letters).
2 people will be the guessers and everyone else will be able to give a clue.
The clue given must start with the letter on either the first or last card (the 'sides' of the row).
We discuss as a team who will give the clue with open discussion in the thread such as "I have a 7 letter word starting with a C"
Once there is some agreement on who gives the clue, that person will bold the clue they want to give in the thread.
The two guessers will then discuss in the thread and bold their guess. If it's correct, we move on to the next guessers and the next word. If wrong, then the clue givers post some info like "you are warm" or "you are about 30% there" etc to give directional info on how on track/off track their guess is.
Then they discuss and give another clue. But the person who bolded a clue cannot give another clue for the same word until everyone on the cluing side has clued a word (if we take that long to get the word), so one person can't hog the cluing.
Clues have to be one word, or an acronym, etc like in codenames; they can be hyphenated words
We can also give some info on how the clues relate to each other, or even say a clue is a 0 clue, so the opposite of what cluing for (e.g., clue 'colorful' as an opposite clue because the word is zebra)
I'll provide more details and examples in the thread in the morning, but this should be enough info for you to /in and join so we can play.

A koopa is a turtle from the Mario Bros universe. Bowser is also known as King Koopa.
Mollusk, mussels, oysters, clams, and koopas all have shells.
I’m not sure what all the funny clues are that DZ has, but I’m good with shell if you are.
I agree. The "funny" clues are distracting. I don't know if they're supposed to help us or if they're just inside jokes for the cluers that you and I are supposed to ignore.

Yeah, shouldn’t have just done clam, sorry about that.
nah, we've all gotten away from that for the most part
this is just a gentle reminder to all that we should consider it when it makes sense

in this case I had 1pm meeting so didn't get the pm sent immediately :(
Immediately thought J5 and think it would work for a lot of people
They're obviously not going to guess the other option
j7 is decent but not a bink and may be shadowfaxy
s6 is good if we need a 2nd word
and of course w5 and s7 but those don't do anything on their own
j9 would probably get this on my short list of options and then deduce from the other mentions the right word
Yea J7 is a great confirmer, by itself could go anywhere
Kinda why I like J5 cause it can only go a couple ways really
I guess there's a whole other way it *could* go but that's where your J7 and other confirmers will help

J7 was the first to mind for me and I don’t think it’s shadowfaxy.
If we go with the left side and don’t hit it in one, then A7 is an absolute contact your bank.
O4 could be interesting, and collabs well with A7. I probably wouldn’t clue O4 on its own.
W4 another good confirmed for the guessers to consider. I’d probably never bold it.
Whatever we do, I think it needs to come from the left to open up A7 if we need it.
I feel like o4 should be a bink unless it shadowfaxes
Lots of things could get this, but also lots of shadowfax potential. O7 gets it...I don't think it's a shadowfax, but maybe it is?
