SIDES - Inaugural Game Thread
In this thread, we will play a new word game called Sides. It's somewhat similar to codenames, but cooperative and different.

In this game, a target word will be randed as will a row of 7 cards that have letters on them (most 1 letter, some 2/3/4 letters).
2 people will be the guessers and everyone else will be able to give a clue.
The clue given must start with the letter on either the first or last card (the 'sides' of the row).
We discuss as a team who will give the clue with open discussion in the thread such as "I have a 7 letter word starting with a C"
Once there is some agreement on who gives the clue, that person will bold the clue they want to give in the thread.
The two guessers will then discuss in the thread and bold their guess. If it's correct, we move on to the next guessers and the next word. If wrong, then the clue givers post some info like "you are warm" or "you are about 30% there" etc to give directional info on how on track/off track their guess is.
Then they discuss and give another clue. But the person who bolded a clue cannot give another clue for the same word until everyone on the cluing side has clued a word (if we take that long to get the word), so one person can't hog the cluing.
Clues have to be one word, or an acronym, etc like in codenames; they can be hyphenated words
We can also give some info on how the clues relate to each other, or even say a clue is a 0 clue, so the opposite of what cluing for (e.g., clue 'colorful' as an opposite clue because the word is zebra)
I'll provide more details and examples in the thread in the morning, but this should be enough info for you to /in and join so we can play.

If p6 is pariah I dunno how it helps us

So even if we are right in guesses, ugh
Hopefully wrong and they will clue us something that helps get us on the right path
I do think we stay away from spider path this first clue and go with hermit/outcast/hobo path
Unabomber route but we’ve had bomb before; but hydrogen would be that h8
Beggar but then panhandler would be clued instead of a p6
Desert island castaway type stuff but then we woulda gotten Gilligan
Monk/nun stuff could work as especially monks are recluses, but no religious clue or option; and no Benedictine mention
Recluse is hidden away so could be something like stowaway and h8 is hijacker
I guess we either go hermit monk or stowaway

Parker is a Jason Statham movie; I think it’s the one where he does heist job with a crew and they double cross him and leave him for dead on the side of the road (maybe by a creek?)

Prolly overthought it and shoulda gone with first instinct and it’s simply spider
H8 is housefly and recluse is a type of spider so it’s just the simplest solution and everything else was just making it overly complex
If they clue tarantula we’d guess spider every time
Recluse is also a spider and should just be spider rather than guessing one of 10 different outcast/hobo/homeless/hermit/monk words that all don’t quite fit
We’ll guess Spider-Man of course to capture both options
Learn from this and move on to next round

Nice job. D1iab and I were anticipating exactly what happened to happen, which is why we were leaning toward redback. I still think we should’ve cleared one of the IH cards, but oh well.
Yeah, and the h8 I was thinking of was huntsman. You guys know what they are, right?
Yeah; and without it being capitalized for Snow White and the Huntsman I woulda gotten spider from that
Of course I shoulda gotten spider from recluse…
I also wanted to say that recluse should be capitalised if we were going that way, but wasn't sure if I was allowed.
