I think the Gate City Casino poker room has the harshest lighting I have ever seen.
And the chairs are the lowest chairs I have ever seen in a poker room.
I can't play poker in this room for these two reasons.

FWIW, the Gate City chairs have now gotten wheel bases on them, making them a bit taller and less prone for roll over accidents.

Any updates on the room going up in Rochester? All kinds of construction in that plaza today.

They are aiming to open in the first quarter of 2025.

Curious to see what it gets for traffic as Poker Atlas suggests there isn't much going on for cash at Dover Poker (Filotimo) just down the road.

Casino at the former Sears in the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua to be called "The Nash Casino". Earlier articles have mentioned it will have poker. Targeting a winter 24/25 open.

For those not familiar with the area, it's a border mall where the mall itself is in NH but some of the parking lot is in Massachusetts.

ECL which are going to be the managing partner look like they have a horse track casino at Kentucky Downs. There's no poker at that facility. They also just bought a racino in Wyoming where the press release touted the ownership of the Lucky Moose as an example of their experience. ECL's S&P bond rating is B-.

I'm not excited.

Looking forward to playing up in Maine sometime. If anyone is up there, would be curious to hear how the games are.

ooh, i may drive up and check it out soon

Noticed on Poker Atlas that Gate City is now offering match the stack up to $2,500 on $1/$3NL and $2/$2 PLO. Not sure if this is new, or just new to Atlas.
Have not seen match the stack games advertised in New Hampshire before.

Games have been great thus far. The action in this area is never lacking - especially during the summer with an influx of tourists coupled with the regulars (which is quite a large player pool for its size). Routinely have been getting a 2/5 game going so far as well.

They are sorting out lights/camera above the 4th table to get that going. Almost every day they would have been to able to open it which would be great since I have been seeing 10-15 people on the 1/2 list a lot.

They also have not sorted out being able to signup for games on Bravo yet - it is being worked on by Bravo and Hollywood though so hopeful that will be in place next week.

All in all, the staff and dealers have all been great though. They did a real nice job reopening and I am excited to see the continued growth.

Sounds great, thanks for the update.

Does anyone in this thread play at Filotimo in Manchester, NH? I'm in the area on vacation and hoping to play up there this week. I am closer to Wonder Casino in Keene but my understanding is games do not run every night there. I am assuming there is decent action in Manchester.

Manchester has good tournaments, the cash game action is not great. Chasers has alot of cash game action and great promos there is also Gate city in Nashua.

Cool thanks! Those rooms are about 30 minutes further, but it might be worth the extra drive.

Hoping to be one myself soon! Only 1 hour away from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, among other nature options. They don't call Maine "vacationland" for nothing!

it's an hour inland, not far north enough for the north woods, too far north to casually visit, and one hour away from the coast - literally situated in a place that's both highly inaccessible and has no good reason to visit at all

if you want lakes and woods you can drive 1 hour less and hit that stuff near the NH border or just drive an additional hour and be so remote there's no cell signal nor paved roads for 100 miles

it's like going to vegas but instead just stopping at one of those gas stations on the outskirts, playing some slots and then calling it a trip

can't imagine being on vacation in maine and saying "honey, you know what would really spice this trip up, a one our drive away from all this beautiful scenery to go into a town with a lumber and shoe economy that collapsed decades ago to visit a 4th tier casino the size of a basketball court"

This post made me legit lol so thanks for that. For me, the ability to do both (awesome nature that far exceeds what we have in CT; strange little casinos completely different from the ones in CT) is what has drawn me to NH over VT and ME the last couple times I've gone up to Northern New England for the weekend.

Haha. What odds will you give me to live there and grind exclusively for a year?

While I agree Bangor is not a tourist destination - all the reasons you outlined above are reasons Bangor does indeed draw tourists because Bangor is convenient to a lot of great things Maine has to offer (Acadia National Park, Baxter State Park, Midcoast, etc). If you are flying to Maine to go to Bar Harbor, you are probably flying to Bangor. If you are driving to Bar Harbor - you are driving through Bangor.

Furthermore, you drop 15k people in town for a concert down the road and that does not hurt either.

Anyone have any suggestions on what time I should go to the Brook during their monthly 1k every 30 minute promotion. I assume if I get there by 10 am I should be good?

Filotimo (Dover & Manchester), Lebanon Poker Room & Casino, and Wonder Casino (Keene) have all rebranded as "Revo Casino and Social House". This will also be the branding when the Conway room opens this winter.

Also, Aces & Eights (Hampton Beach) stopped appearing on PokerAtlas a few weeks ago. They are still advertising poker on their social media account. Not sure what happened there.

Chasers in Salem, NH followed suit and is now offering stack match on $2/$5 NL up to $2,500.
Also raised their minimum buy in for $2/$5 from $200 to $300.

New casino being proposed for Rockingham Park Mall, replacing old Lord & Taylor location.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/casino-planne...

Sep. 9—Developers are upping the ante in hopes of transforming the former Lord & Taylor space at the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem into a casino.

The proposed Live! Casino is expected to bring hundreds of gaming machines, multiple restaurants, a sports lounge, golf simulators and a ballroom to the approximately 159,000-square-foot space. Other entertainment options are also expected, according to paperwork filed with the town.

...

According to the casino plans in Salem, the first floor will feature 60,000 square feet of gaming and restaurants and the second floor will be home to a ballroom, sports lounge, golf simulators and more entertainment, according to the application. The plan calls for more than 40 table games, including poker, and 900 historic horse racing machines, which look and operate similar to slot machines, but players pick winners of randomly selected horse races that have already been run.

Interesting to see the evolution over time, so far the trends have been - cardrooms in former racetracks (Seabrook, Rockingham Park), to stand alone cardrooms (Chasers, GateCity, Revo), to mall casinos (The Nash, unnamed Rochester casino, Live! Salem).

Imagine if NH had been smart enough to approve the real casino to replace Rockingham. All the deficiencies in Encore would have made it pretty attractive to everyone. But no, they want to have nickel & dime "charity" rooms instead. Encore goes unchallenged and we end up with dumps like Chasers.
