ex-President Trump

ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:

a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?

b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

So your saying once Trump took office he should have sold all his properties?

Let me add if your coming to visit Trump or a member of his staff at the Whitehouse kind of makes sense to stay at the property 1/2 a mile away and than you can say I stayed at your beautiful Hotel .

Id like to know what good ole MSNBC considers payments ? the fee for the room? meals and drinks?

If that 7.8M was paid via market rate for a hotel (which we must assume is what is going on otherwise MSNBC would be going crazy) then who really cares as expecting a president to check to make sure every guest at his hotels isn't associated with any foreign government is insane + 7.8M between all foreign governments seems shockingly low for a hotel brand that size. I wonder how much all foreign governments spent at other hotel brands.

It isn't like we are talking about foreign governments paying millions for art from a crackhead family member of the president or to employee said family member. That would be a reason to not vote for a presidential hopeful unless ~50 intelligence officers came together and said it was fake news.

yes. that's why we shouldn't have elected a conman business bro to be the president..

everyone always references Carter. Carter put his businesses in a blind trust when he became president.. Trump continued to run his while pretending he had divested them to his son.

ideally EVERYONE in politics should have to put all business, stocks, investments into blind trusts. this should be common sense.

we already know he charged the government significantly OVER the government rates and forced them to stay at his properties.. this is easy stuff that you already know.

Fed officials have those rules in place for a reason .
No idea why presidents shouldn’t either ?

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/10/21/fed-...

« Fed officials can no longer have holdings in shares of particular companies, nor can they invest in individual bonds, hold agency securities or derivative contracts. The new rules replace existing regulations that, while somewhat restrictive, still allowed officials such as regional presidents to buy and sell stocks.

"These tough new rules raise the bar high in order to assure the public we serve that all of our senior officials maintain a single-minded focus on the public mission of the Federal Reserve," Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said in a statement. »

You realize that excludes the senate and the house. Nancy Pelosi had another stellar year outperforming the market at 67% annual return according to Unusual Whales as well as a bunch of other Dems and GOP

Please enlighten us and show us the proof. I am not sure how you place hotels in a blind trust?

Is this a joke? Of course he should have sold his commercial properties. He owned a hotel where people lobbying his administration stayed for **** sake.

yeah but 'market rate', blah blah blah....

LOL these people are ****ing idiots.

To quote #thinman Unfucxinbelivable that you give a pass to a Democratic donor paying off Hunters tax bill, Hunter taking millions from foreign governments and Hunter selling his art for 100's of thousand of dollars but does not have to disclose the buyers .

Your upset someone stayed at his hotel . Sell all his hotels is just nuts .

what was hunter in charge of again? i forget

I didn't say anything about Hunter or any unspecified Democratic donor (was it Trump? He was a Democratic donor.).

I do .
But I also realize that as higher the post occupied , stricter rules should apply .
U don’t seem to realize that …

Here another hint, because of this quote :
« Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely ».

In todays politics it’s hard to find an honest politician

google is free.. i promise you can do it too. it might even make you smarter and look less ignorant.

But there is vast grey area u can do here , it’s not a binary world we live in.
Many arrangements can be made like trust fund for the years is in office instead of selling everything.

It is utterly breathtaking how every last defense of trump’s buffoonery is a whataboutism and not a single human alive can defend on him singularly on his accused in a vacuum

I feel confident saying nobody gives a **** if Hunter biden dies in prison, dem or rep. Now avoid invoking him and explain to me why it’s ok trump literally used his presidency to gain wealth through favors from foreign governments

So you might as well go for the most dishonest of the lot?

What do you base it on ? How much money they grifted while in politics?

I am not sure it is anything particularly unique to 21st century America though. History books are filled with horrible leaders who enjoyed varying levels of popular support, many of whom were arguably much worse than Trump and more popularly supported.

A few of them within my lifetime. I'm 55. Trump is an idiot, and he's said some pretty stupid ****, but I'm pretty sure this attribution is 100% bullshit.

After observing and to some extent participating in this thread for the past couple months, I've come to realize that it's basically everyone debating with 3-4 posters making terrible arguments from the right. There are good arguments to be made from the right, but these posters are unwilling or incapable of making them.

Friends, I fear that validating their terrible arguments by continually engaging with them is counterproductive. I don't generally believe debating, even on the internet, is a lost cause. But sometimes it is. There are some really thoughtful and informed responses to the drivel, and maybe airing those responses is itself worthwhile, but it's a lot of effort put into debating people who clearly bring nothing to the table other than their ill-informed opinions.

Happy new year and I wish all of you the best.

Nobody has shown proof that trump used his time as president to gain wealth. Nobody has even bothered to show if that tiny fraction of trump's companies revenues gained via foreign governments is larger or smaller compared to the 5 years previous or since he was president.

I am tired of people using whataboutism on trump when asked about biden using his son to sell his finger painting or pretend to have a job at companies in countries he has some power to change policy on.

There's just no way lozen and bahbah are real people, is there? I mean, I know they're real people, but these are just performance bits, right?

Please tell me what's not real ? That were conservative ? We do not agree with many of Biden's policies and think he is not cognitive enough to lead the largest most powerful nation in the world and I get why folks vote for Trump but I myself would not unless I had a gun to my head and the two choices were Joe Biden or Donald Trump .

I was a liberal/democrat once for about 8 years and still believe in some of their principals
