Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
This we agree on
What do you mean "may"? It most definitely occurred. Hamas most definitely murdered civilians
could have just been collateral damage
You mean they didn't mean to murder all those civilians with small arms fire and did so accidentally? Including those murdered in their panic rooms?
There's a lot we don't know.
They could have just come over to catch the music festival and then things got out of hand.
Israel's situation is by no means desperate
maybe they just wanted the jews to turn the music down
Taking the 1967 borders. When was the last time Jews were the majority of the population in that area? They are colonizers/conquerers. Just own it
Of course. And they shouldn't apologize.
The Muslim Arabs sure are not apologizing for their centuries of colonization and ethnic cleansing (still ongoing). It is a source of pride for them. They are still doing it where they can. Their main problem is because they are still stuck with a 7th Century mentality, they are so technologically and economically inferior to the rest of the world they cant do much other than asymmetric guerrilla terrorism.
The sheer scale of your apologia for both Hamas and Putin's Russia is as jaw dropping as it is shameless. This is why nobody objective takes your condemnation of Israel seriously.
you should read Israeli media

Israel killed a LOT of their Jews that day.
anyway
Noooothing burger
dude there's an election already in the works. Bibi is finished. The Israeli media is full of pieces of how close the war cabinet is to collapsing before an election. Bibi is saying his last little talking points in the hopes it maybe gets votes. He's in full election mode. He thinks he can get votes from people who are so enraged/traumatized from Oct 7th that they'll never 2 state.
Now don't get me wrong, BOTH sides are discouraged at the prospect of 2 states right now. But Bibi opening his mouth on it is the last thing you need to worry about.
israel should negotiate whatever deal is necessary to bring back the hostages and then immediately renege on it and resume the blasting of hamas to the moon until mission accomplished
You know Hamas deliberately murdered civilians. I stand by my comments re your jaw dropping levels of apologia.
Since the 50s? And they were plurality maybe in the 40s when the war of 1948 broke out. We’d be living in a very different world now if the Arabs didn’t attack Israel and effectively prevent the formation of an Arab Palestinian state.
You need to trace further back pre British Mandate of Palestine, the establishment of which established legal pathways for Jews to buy land (from Palestinians, legally with no coercion btw) and establish residences in what’s become Israel.
The Brits established quotas and tried to slow down the immigration but by the 30s/40s, the Jews were already firmly entrenched in the area. The flood gates opened when the Brits started sending Jewish refugees to Palestine during and after WWII. (Not particularly welcomed by the Jews that were sent there by the way)
Yeah hamas won't give back the hostages without remaining in power so it's moot
I never said they didn't. Question is how many.
It is ironic that the Un approved the partition plan partly because they hated jews age didn't want to give them refuge in their countries
Why bother? Hamas will beat them to the renege button
Good faith Zionist
Also they can't resume something they haven't been doing. They can resume blasting babies which ofc is your desire.
hamas may still have some hope that israel will allow them to continue to exist, and if so the right thing to do would be to exploit it
Let me be clear. I meant why bother reneging when Hamas will tear up the agreement first?
