it was the first country to recognize the state of israel. out of all countries! the now elected president spent 10 years of his life in israel, he studied there. thats why hes fluent in hebrew. talk to some locals.

the "bomb the people" phase has been over for some time Trolly. Not saying civilians aren't dying. But the phase you describe is gone. The Khan Yunis campaign is fairly targeted and geographically specific now.

That said, what you describe (the reduction in the Gaza campaign) is more or less what's happening now behind the scenes. But the notion of letting hostages be the effective weapon of choice forever now is what the Israeli brain trust is trying to sort out. They need some kind of ending to that issue. They probably liked killing Sinwar THEN getting them. Or Expelling Sinwar THEN getting them. For now neither seems likely.

And btw for you 2 state truthers, you can't let a single Gazan work in Israel so long as hostage taking is so effective. So you can see the giant moat that needs a bridge in the 2 state mechanism.

25k+ fatalities, 60k+ wounded, virtually everyone is homeless, North Gaza is a wasteland and how many hospitals are functioning? The people are being bombed back into the stone age and Hamas isn't any closer to surrendering.

This is related to an interesting dynamic of the propaganda war that is of course working against the Palestinians. Arab propaganda/media (especially Arabic Al Jazeera) is basically making up a bunch of stuff every day about how well Hamas is doing. Much of the Arab street that isn't exposed to Western media completely over-estimates how well Hamas is doing militarily. They dont realize Hamas has basically been destroyed in the north and even in the south they mainly just hide in tunnels and occasionally pop out to attack or steal aid and then quickly go back.

This is mainly because this is pretty much the first war in the modern era where civilians are basically blocked by the entire world from leaving the war zone. If this was the status quo in other wars they would all have similar casualty numbers.

For example, in Sudan the ongoing ethnic cleanse/genocide of blacks by Arabs has resulted in 7 MILLION displaced. You could imagine how many casualties this would be (possibly in the millions) if they literally weren't allowed to leave the war zone.

Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, Aizerbaijan, Nigeria, etc. All these conflicts would have astronomically higher casualty rates if the narrative was "civilians cant leave the war zone because that would be ethnic cleansing."

Trolly I was suggesting that 95% of your fatality and injury count came from an earlier phase in the war. Read back to what we were talking about. You discussed bombing people. I'm just saying that was the first phase.

We're in the counterinsurgency phase of the war now. It's a very different thing.

I did want to key in on the concept of the first ever war where people could not flee, and who (unknowingly to an extent) put themselves on top of the military targets (quite literally given the tunnel system). There's growing fear this model will spread. There's already a few other places developing it. Not surprisingly all in the middle east. It's truly unique to put your women, children and elderly in the path of harm.

Other than Sinwar stating all of the accomplishments hamas has made in Gaza recently, Sinwar really is like a character in a silver age Joe Kubert war comic where you actually have a real life man child controlling an army of fools in the hopes to destroy half the world.

It's idiotic to ask or assume that they'd surrender even if you gave them everything short of the destruction of the west.

Most Israelis have absolutely no issues with Palestinians being "free". Just as most Arabs living in Israel are already free. The problem is nobody has shown them a safe way to do it yet (and I say that a bit tongue in cheek because the Palestinians could be free tomorrow if they wanted).

Israelis have largely only known "you can't even exist here" threats from the word go. Something real easy to ignore when you live that far from them. If you lived there you'd understand it goes

1) my children's safety
2) the other issue

But #2 is something most sane people are good with once #1 is handled
