2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

I think you guys are using the app incorrectly. So far all tiktok has pushed on me is ways to improve my pie baking and how to propagate different varieties of house plants. I’m growing my own herbs!

That doesn’t surprise me, and I didn’t mean to be dismissive. (I really just wanted to brag about the pies…😉 The truth is the most remarkable feature of the app is how strong the algorithm is. I’m not new to any form of social media, but it surprises even me how much effort it takes to reset the FYP. If tiktok sees you watching or looking into one video’s content, if you like something or visit the profile, it will send you down an inescapable rabbit hole of similar content. Mine happens to be pies. Just call me Mrs. Lovett. But if perchance my interests were in radical philosophies in any direction, left or right or to the moon, tiktok will enhance your exposure.
I think even being interested in politics will eventually lead someone down a more radical path, they do not need to start off being interested in radical philosophies. The way the algorithm works it will eventually lead you down a more radicalized path on its own.

Well, cheap is relative. They are firing mobile missile systems that can travel 800 km over open water. Obviously it is not very accurate, which is why they haven't done much actual damage, but the threat is clearly enough to damage world trade. And if this continues indefinitely they will eventually get a lucky hit and do some major damage.
And they are a guerrilla force which can easily blend into the local population, which supports them. I am not sure there is much the US can do, given our current strategy to minimize collateral damage. Obviously we could easily destroy all the infrastructure in Western Yemen and probably millions of people will die of thirst and hunger (they are already on the edge of this happening as it is) and that would probably stop them firing missiles. But it seems the powers that be would rather just pay more money to not use the Red Sea anymore than do anything that would actually work.
Ironically, this will hurt Egypt the most, as levies from ships going through the canal is a very important part of their economy.

TikTok leans pro-Palestinian because its userbase skews younger, not because the algorithm is "designed to bombard you with lies and misinformation." I assure you that if it was possible to put the whammy on teens via social media, the Pentagon would not have trouble finding new recruits.
