filthy, trying to convince somebody to give up a hierarchical view of society and who deserves what is never going to happen. Mark and his family have theirs, he believes its because they deserve it, and that means there must be some people out there who don't deserve it. whatever reason and logic you want to use wont apply, because it doesnt appeal to the "pick yourself up by your bootstraps" crowd.

don't we currently have better systems right now? dozens of them?
in happiness polls, usa, the leader of our current system, ranks pretty low. the happier countries tend to have financial floors, so people aren't living on the streets and starving.
and of course probably 99.999999% of the years in human history, we've lived in better societies than we do now. im sure you disagree though. im guessing you'd think we are much better off than pre history societies where we had lifespan of 25 or whatever, and infant mortality of like 50% or whatever... and you might be right about that. but you might also be biased because you live a happy life. you seem like a really happy guy. and good for you! seriously. it makes me feel good to think of you happy ♥
but maybe for you it makes it harder to understand the misery of our times. like people are killing themselves like crazy. taking tons of drugs. something like 60% or whatever of the world's drugs are consumed in USA, and we are 5% of the population!
the anxiety in our society is off the charts. depression too. the capitalist internet is really damaging us. and i point out that capitalist part, becuase that's what makes the internet so damaging. driven by profit we just let the algorithms dictate everything, and extremism gets views, so people become more extreme... and photoshopped unrealistic girls get views on intsa, so real life girls compare to themselves and are miserable... and on and on

Filthy, I just don't see much doom and gloom. Family, friends associates... Everyone has their personal battles but overall are living and enjoying life!

If you did this on a massive scale it would be hugely transformatory
And i dont see how elon musk selling shares in twitter so he can achieve this is any different. Didnt he sell like 25% of tesla and nothing changed?
Also- wealth inequality is proven to do make societies more unstable. This is obv bad
Second, i struggle with the idea that someone having billions or millions in cash whilst others starve is any way a society people would chose. So its generically level 1 bad.
There may be some reasons on top of this that taking their money is also bad, but, if you have a world where there are only two people and one person is starving and another dancing in liquid gold thats obviously a bad society.
If you look at the global economy, if you take those 10 billionaires and distribute all their money to the lower 25% of the worlds population, what medium/long term difference would it make? Small - none?.
I assume the catastrophic effect of removing all that locked equity from those 10-20ish companies would be far more damaging.
Explain how making the majority owners of the top 10 companies would be really damaging
More interesting is which viewpoints of substance does one think reasonable people can disagree on than those that are prederided for being evil or stupid.

This wasn’t your question but I would like to assure you and the rest of the world that the ongoing misuse of the word genocide, while irritating, does not frost my cheerios sufficiently to get me to ever vote for Trump.
Of course I’ll never vote for Biden either but his position on Gaza has nothing to do with that.

And this sentence was really weird to me

and hopefully 8 billion people collectively deciding the fate of the planet would decide to save it for our children and grand children, and all the other animals and plants.

Too many influencers are pulling in too many inconsistent directions, but since we really don't want to see how many orders of magnitude we're willing to tolerate in terms of vaporized humans, we kind of have to let them.
