I haven't even noticed them on the news or anywhere else

I can't tell if you're joking or being serious

the college protests and police crackdown on them have totally taken over my Twitter feed

and it's all over the two news sources I do check... common dreams and democracy now

Get used to it. The encampment revolution is a big deal to the revolutionary class, so it's news when they are the audience. For the mainstream media, there is concern that it may reflect poorly on the democratic party (which may or may not be true) so they're going to minimize and suppress it unless and until it becomes a mass cause celebre (which it is currently not). Unless and until encampments start polling well expect a long hot summer of Trump news 24/7.

Trump News sells

Last night, I was watching the ucla raid. I didn't see anyone hauling Filthy away. I was disappointed. :p

Also, I find it interesting that universities are coming down on the protestors while having plaques on buildings commemorating civil disobedience and building takeovers during the 70's.

most protests are forgotten

True, BLM!

My knowledge of LA geography is pretty limited, but I'd think filthy lives a lot closer to USC than UCLA, so keep your eyes peeled for a Trojan encampment.

UCLA is far away from me, and right through terrible LA traffic. USC is close to me

but my protesting days are over, I think. I'm retired. I went to tons of them in SF. idk if I did much good, but I was there. now, I just feel too old. also I don't really have a community in LA to help me, if I get arrested and/or injured.

and yeah, protests for civil rights, Vietnam, Iraq 2003... those were all 100% justified and righteous, and objectively correct... just like now

Communists who have no community, Socialists who have no society, Capitalists who have no capital. The id ego and superego of the alienated subject on the verge of disaster.

love the post amp

and love you too

you are sorely missed

hope everything is going good for you

It's good to see you! All is well. Galaxies swirl in the yawning void of infinite space heedless of our vicissitudes.

It's strangely comforting that everything in the universe changes constantly except this thread.

Joe Biden is a lizard.

a random lizard would be a better president, and probably win the election

Are you volunteering for the position?

BTW, my daughter is home from UCLA this weekend. I find it surprising listening to how passionate she is over the school Protestors and the school administration/police. She was in tears talking about it. I would have assumed that most of the student body would have been indifferent. Also, my opposite views clearly didn't help.

Don't tell her how they get nickel for iPhones.

Not sure that's the right element. Maybe cobalt? Something like that

obv not proud of you for your abhorrent views! lol :p

proud of you for being a great dad and raising good kids who can help you understand the ways of the world

My son agrees with me! However, this morning he said "Yeah, I got to be careful around my roommates. You don't want to mix politics and friends."

almost all my friends disagree with my politics lol

and i'm not shy about expressing my views! but I think I mostly manage to do it in a way that isn't too hostile

me and mark's political discourse is a good example of friends who can totally disagree on some specifics, but still like each other a lot 😀
