What's a "daily double"
Google and Bing are useless anymore.
My local room has a "Daily Double" prize pool that's on a whiteboard along with the pools for quads, straight flushes and royals. What does it mean?

What did your local room's cardroom manager or equivalent say when you asked them?
I don't especially care to out myself as a noob. Hoping you would know.
I think that 64 may be trying to help. Cardroom managers can be helpful in the long run so asking a simple question to one... would be an icebreaker that may be helpful for you.
Having a cardroom manager think you are a noob (until proven otherwise) can get you favorable rulings... as an example
I think we might be at fault for not being clear.
If your question was about something that is standard poker terms, like "What is a side pot?" or "What is a bring-in?" or "What is a Kill?", you would've gotten a clear answer from anybody who posts here.
"Daily Double" is not a standard poker term. In my knowledge base, it's a standard horse racing wager.
So, in asking a floor manager, you're not really outing yourself as a poker noob, just as somebody who is unfamiliar with a room specific term.
I've been playing poker for over 50 years and have played in numerous rooms and private games and I would have to ask.
Yes, basically what Kurn says. I've not been playing as long as he has, but I have no idea what it means either, so I would ask the person whose literal job it is to clarify or explain this sort of thing
Why? I find this statement baffling.
I am going to speak for all of 'us' .. if you're a noob, everyone in the room knows it. So you might as take advantage of that fact and use it to your advantage at the table. The fact that you come here means you 'should' be on a better course than most noobs would take.
Getting to know the locals is to your advantage. Give them respect and they will give it back .. with possibly some 'list' favors and priority table changes.
Also .. any Promotional Events MUST have a posting in the room somewhere. Most rooms have a touch screen that scrolls through the Room Rules and Promos currently in effect. So if it's not clear on the 'white board' then it's open season to ask WTF is going on today?
Also, also .. You'd be amazed at the number of Regs that still ask the Dealers if they need to play both Hole Cards every single time they come in for a High Hand event. GL
