Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
I once again am begging you to understand that the atrocities committed by other nations do not justify the ethnic cleansing of Gaza.

We are discussing the fact that territories of the former British Empire were split between two religious groups into their respective parts/countries, and the world carried on (Pakistane, India).

That is what we are talking about.

If we had carried on here, we never get to an Oct 7th. So we never get what follows. Do you see what I mean? This could have gone differently if we'd moved on like every other instance of relocating people post-colonial splits, went.

This one is the anomaly because 3 generations later, people won't move on.

The 125k Jews in Israel aren't trying to get their houses back in Iraq. It's over. Today is today. Nobody is chanting to get their house back in Baghdad.

hey victor, want some land?
its free! all you have to do is convert to Judaism
and claim the torah has promised you a piece of land in Gaza.
/S

Fact: Jordan should have been to Palestinians, what Pakistan became to Muslims (from India).

That's any Palestinians who didn't want to just stay and live in Israel (like the other Israeli Arabs do).

That's the bizarro alternate timeline where all of this thread isn't a thing. History went another way.

Then you get a piece of land in Palestine! I mean Isreal.

Over 2M Arabs live peacefully in Israel (proper) today. Nobody asked them to convert. And the declaration of independence didn't ask them to either.

We know this works, because the Christian, Druze, Ba'hai etc also live peacefully in Israel. And were not asked to convert.

That is what Jordan is

There was a conflict over the land of the British Mandate of Palestine. Britain gave 73% of the land to create TransJordan for the Palestinian people. That was before the partition plan for the rest and the Arab world still rejected it

It may not justify it but since the Un and people like you only seem to villify Israel, it shows ignorance or antisemitism. Or both

Which is it trolly?

antisemitic now means opposition to Israel's mass murder and apartheid. everyone should oppose those atrocities.

Mets, I've repeatedly asked you to not call or imply that posters in this thread are Jew haters, antisemites, etc.

I'm now going to ask you to take a timeout from this thread until 12:00AM EST. Please do not disregard this message.

Edit- Also, we still have not resolved the issue with my control panel, so if you violate the timeout its a 1 day ban currently. (Sorry Micro)

South Africa is def Hamas lol

You can't steal a country from the UN. You have to apply via a rigorous process. The world has to vote and accept it. Then for good measure, you may have to win a defensive war (which has further benefits to the victor).

Again, just like Pakistan and India.

But even moreso, you can't steal what was once yours. Israel has always been a Jewish homeland. And the proof is in the dirt.

Once the British Empire was done with it, it had to become SOME

You mean once a guerrila campaign waged by the Jews successful ousted the British from Palestine

yes south africa has sued them.

Im guessing many other countries could follow.

by rafiki P

Iit makes perfectly good sense to give them a place to self-determine.

It might make good sense to you but many now regard Israel as a huge mistake. Jewish people should've been offered US citizenship after WW2 and new towns built.

Washoe, this post is not acceptable. At best it’s antagonistic and lacks content; at worst it’s antisemitic.

This will be the only warning for further posts like this. Thank you

But they weren't and moving away from that fabled land of Coulda Shoulda Woulda and back to planet Earth, the world has one Jewish state and why shouldn't that Jewish state have self determination? Like every other free state?

Not really sure what self-determination means in this context. The most important thing was for Jewish people to be able to live without fear of persecution, and it didn't need creating a new pseudo-country bordered by Muslims to do that. What could possibly go wrong?

It was idea of its time, like Madagascar, that no one would seriously consider nowadays.

I'm against every ethnonationalist project, from the disastrous partition of India to the Ottoman genocides to Russia's genocide against Ukraine to the expulsion of Muslims from Gaza. It's trash 19th century ideology no matter which ethnic group is doing it, there isn't a single functional modern nation that operates that way.

"You'll only be safe around people who look and think like you" --it's just obviously garbage, never trust anyone who tells you this.

yes, you can delete it if you want. I almost deleted it myself.

The Brits left EVERYWHERE my friend. Israel wasn't a weird anomaly. One by one, they left their old colonies and conquests.

In India this was cheered. In Israel it's...guerrilla?

Let's at least be consistent.
