President Joe Biden

President Joe Biden

Right now, we need VP Biden, we need him to step down and drop out so Bernie sanders can save this country from this global crisis just like FDR.

A thread to debate the efficacy of a Joe Biden Presidency in the midst of a global pandemic and impending Great Recession/Depression.

Where is Joe Biden? Can he beat Trump and is he even trying to? What would a Joe Biden Presidency look like in these times? Where is he and why isn't he leading?

The problem is we have been given two ridiculous options to vote for. If the Democrats gave us a younger more stable option perhaps Trump wouldn't have a chance. As long as we are living in the upside down world we might as well get Trump back in there. At least he doesn't look like an elderly Fire Marshal Bill. Hopefully there is not a pandemic during the next four years.

i just don't understand this take. he absolutely looks just as bad. if you like the Trump stuff just have the balls to say you like the trump stuff. stop with the well this democratic guy that has good policy is 4 yrs older so i gotta vote for the 78 yr old that rambles like a drunk uncle and wants to throw out all the brown people. the dems made me do this... just like that neo-nazi meme.

which one are you talking about?

You know!

I like the Trump stuff. He's a funny dude. He's much less cringeworthy than Biden. I think he'll do a better job controlling the border. I think he'll do a better job of not allowing "death to America" people into the country. He will be more supportive of Israel. He will uphold good Conservative values and scoff at the immoral direction this country is going in.

I didn't vote in the last election because I hated both candidates equally. I will probably vote for Trump this time. If the Democrats had a reasonable candidate I probably just wouldn't vote. The other thing that has moved me more to Trump is the pro "Palestinian" movement in this country. I don't know how this nonsense is tolerated here. I suspect Trump would deal with this situation harshly. It's possible these riots could be the difference in a Trump victory.

Democrats aren't stupid, if there was a candidate with better chances than Biden he would be the candidate

It sounds like the Democrats are stupid.

see there ya go.. much better. you found a nice little xenophobic home amongst likeminded individuals. i'm not sure i understand your definition of cringeworthy but glad we could get that bigotry out in the open for ya.

Do you think Trump himself represents "good conservative values?"? Or do you just not mind that he is horribly hypocritical?

I don't know what you mean by the pro-Palestinian movement being "tolerated". Who exactly is tolerating it, and how? I'm pretty certain that if Trump was president now, he would have been at least as (likely more) supportive of Israel's actions, and there would have been even more protests. If he brought in the national guard and started killing protestors, that would just result in more people taking the side of the protestors. When this happened at Vietnam war protests it resulted in the villainization of President Nixon, despite his finally giving in and stopping US involvement in the conflict.

Again only focusing on the « looks » and
Not what actually happened ….

The US , despite being the « greatest country in the world » under trump had amongst the worst if not the worst respond/result in covid crisis .
Under biden , despite the dumb half country illiterate citizens that can’t read charts , the US still got the best economy in the world …

Ps:‘I’m not eve talking about all th **** trump did with stolen election crap, being convicted , January 6 , etc ..

U would vote for trump believing he would do more for Israel then biden and yet you don’t understand where that pro Palestinians movement comes
From ?

More chance a stupid uphold the law then a convict …
We see it with hunter, live .
But yeah gop isn’t the party of law anymore that’s for sure .

It's not a nice thing to do but there's nothing perverted about that. When you marry a playboy billionaire what do you think is gonna happen? The choice between banging a hot porn star or your miserable pregnant wife is not a difficult one.

But..... Horse Face!

Plus..... you've never been happily married, have you mon?

I've made it very clear how much I disliked Trumps handling of the pandemic and the stolen election nonsense. I'm still gonna vote for him which tells you what I think of Biden.

The point is that Trump would have shut this movement down early. I also think he would have followed what some European countries are doing regarding deporting these bad actors. When you move to a new country you are a guest in that country. Your arrival should be a benefit not a hinderance.

I doubt a large percentage of folks are happily married. God bless those who are. I doubt it continues but hopefully so.

love to be a single-issue voter, where the single issue is joe "unconditional support" & "no red lines" brandon has been insufficiently supportive of israel's genocide, and that people should be deported for protesting a foreign government/country. incredible stuff

I don't think there's been a US President worse for Israel than Trump. And this was said in real time

Even if you're not s veteran Middle East peace negotiator, you had to be pretty skeptical of a deal spearheaded by Jared Kushner.

Quite incredible to read this given he moved the embassy to Jerusalem (acting on a congress decision all predecessors illegitimately didn't act on), helped KSA-israel relationships a lot, and assassinated one of the most dangerous Iranian criminals

Otoh 56 (iirc) republicans in the house voted against Trump recommendation, against aid to Israel.

So the GOP might have a bigger anti Israel problem than the democratic party, but it's not caused by Trump

No matter what you think should have been done for COVID, in the USA that is NOT A MATTER FOR THE PRESIDENT.

Say you want lockdowns (or say you hate them): it's a state matter. POTUS never had the power to lockdown, or to block states from locking down.

Quite incredible to read COVID management as an issue of the presidency. Has anyone read the constitution?

So what did Biden do worst then killing hundreds thousands unnecessary death for Covid and trying to subvert democracy by trump ?

Trump called the Abraham Accords the dawn of a new Middle East (he's probably unintentionally correct on that) and that it would bring Palestine to the negotiating table (maximally wrong on that.) If the Abraham Accords were a good idea, you have to ask why smarter non Trump/Kushner led administrations just didn't do something similar. It was easy to simply buy off gulf states to recognize Israel. They didn't because it doesn't really help anything and further isolates Palestine and Iran and raises the chances of something like.....well exactly what happened happening.

This was written in 2020

When he has sought my advice during the past couple of years, I have advised Jared Kushner not to become Israel’s lawyer. The last time I met with Kushner, he asked me what, in my view, would constitute success on his part. I made it clear that there was zero chance of reaching a conflict-ending accord, as neither Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas nor Netanyahu were willing or able to make the decisions required to achieve one.

But I also told him that if he wasn’t careful, he could make the situation a great deal worse. The key was to put something out that was credible and would put America in position to be seen as a party that could be trusted by all sides to work on the issue in the future. Whatever Israel and the Palestinians need to succeed in making peace, what they don’t need is precisely what the Kushner law firm delivered: a framework that may well have hung a closed-for-the-season sign both on a viable peace process and America’s credibility as a fair and effective broker.

Like with North Korea, Trump foreign policy was mostly about photo ops and being able to say you've done something.....rather than putting in the hard work to make realistic incremental improvements. In North Korea they had no real impact. In the middle east they unfortunately did make things a great deal worse as they were warned.

Trump's a moron so I doubt could even explain what the deal was about at a high school level, but his understanding of it might be even worse than one would assume.

Trump questioned if Kushner accomplished...

My complaint about Trump is that he clearly lacked leadership during the pandemic. He had an opportunity to bring the country together against a common enemy and did the exact opposite. It's obvious that everything he did was based on how it would impact the election. I have many more complaints but I won't derail this thread.

That was bad stuff for sure. It feels dirty voting for Trump but I'm looking more at the future. There is simply no way Biden can continue as President. Both of my parents had dementia. Things go down hill fast.

Well fwiw a guy like trump for me , if he really would believe and not lying like we all know he does , he would already be considered to have dementia
…..

The future is certainly ain’t better with trump when I look at what he already did .
No idea why you think trump would be better when he actually getting worst presently and promise to be even worst -> project 2025
