Welcome to the official WPT Global thread!
WPT Global is the real-money online poker business of the World Poker Tour, and we’re about to celebrate our two-year anniversary, having launched in April 2022. After such a short time, we’re already the third-largest online poker room in the world (ranked by PokerScout.com, based on cash game traffic).
We’re joining TwoPlusTwo to share information with you, engage with the community, and answer any questions you might have.
WPT Global is special for a few reasons:
- Our modern platform has been built from the beginning to leverage AI technology. We use this in two main ways. The first is to protect the games by detecting collusion, bot use, RTA use and other forms of cheating extremely quickly. We have the best Game Integrity tech I’ve experienced in my 19 years in the industry, and a team of around 50 people using it.
- The second way we utilise AI technology is in managing our ecology. We ensure that games are sustainable and beatable by reserving seats in every game for casual players and limiting the number of seats per table that can be occupied by highly skilled professionals. I’ll go into more detail on this point later, in the below FAQ, but the net result is - we have the softest cash games you’ll find online, and typical win-rates for regs are 5-10x higher than elsewhere. (If you don't’ believe me, just try them and see for yourself).
- We have had a large liquidity pool from the very beginning, especially in cash games. This is because we partnered with a couple of successful Asia-facing poker rooms to bootstrap their liquidity. Most poker startups face an enormous challenge in growing their liquidity from scratch - this solution allowed us to launch with cash games running 24/7 and it contributes to our soft player pool. Now, WPT Global is a large poker site in its own right and less dependent on the Asia liquidity, and we’re growing our games in US Dollars all the time.
- There is enormous value on offer - our explicit aim is to pay back more to players via promotions and giveaways than any other site. Check out our current promotions here.
- Global Spins is our unique twist on the Jackpot SNG concept, with a progressive jackpot and the lowest rake in the industry (5%).
- As part of the World Poker Tour family, we’re the best place to qualify for WPT events around the world, like the WPT World Championship at the Wynn later this year.
Some of you might remember me and my colleague WPT Global Peter from our previous roles. Many years ago, I was one of the first site representatives ever to engage with the 2+2 community, as the first PokerStars representative in the ‘PokerStars Software Improvement Thread’. Later, Peter and I ran the ‘Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network...’. You can expect a similar level of transparency and responsiveness here. While I don’t promise to respond to every single thing, no constructive question or criticism is off limits.

What countries is WPT Global available in?
Currently, we have a .com licence and have not entered any regulated markets (although we will start to do so later this year). We’re open to most markets that have yet to regulate, including Canada (except Ontario), Ireland, New Zealand and most of Latin America, Asia and Africa.
We don’t (yet) accept players from the US, UK, Australia, Russia, and most of Europe. If you’re from one of these countries and want to qualify for WPT events then Club WPT might work for you!

How does the ecology management system work? Do you ban winners from playing at WPT Global?
Our ecology management system is specifically designed so that we can run sustainable games without having to penalise winners.
In cash games, our AI technology measures the skill level of every player and predicts their win rate. The model is highly accurate and continually updates so that it cannot be abused or ‘gamed’.
We reserve a number of seats at each cash game table for players that fall into one of our ‘casual player’ categories. In our most popular game (8-Handed NLHE with an ante and a straddle) we reserve six of the eight seats for casual players, which effectively means that highly-skilled pros can only occupy two seats.
Because there is plenty of liquidity, if you find yourself categorised as a pro, you can still always find a game to play at any stake, and you can guarantee yourself a seat in a great game if you start a table, since our ecology management system ensures that only one other pro can sit with you.
The system does not categorise players by their actual win rate, but by how skilled they are. If you have a great run of luck, you will not necessarily be categorised as a pro, and vice versa, you will not necessarily be categorised as a casual player if you run bad.
We find that once players get used to the system, they love it. Both pros and beginners have a better experience because we eliminate some of the common predatory behaviour that occurs elsewhere, and pros can achieve significantly higher win rates. I encourage you to give it a try!
What’s with the games in CNY currency?
Because we partnered with Asia-facing poker rooms to launch, some of our games are in Chinese Yuan (CNY) currency. At the time of writing, the exchange rate to the dollar is about 7.25 CNY to the USD. As we’ve become less dependent on the Asian liquidity we have introduced more USD games. Most cash games and all tournaments including Global Spins are now available in USD, and for those of you that want to play in the CNY games, there’s a handy currency converter in the lobby, and the ability to change the stacks to BB.

My account has been locked for security reasons. My username is Player5. I wanted to make my first withdrawal on 28.05.24, the same day I sent my verification documents. I wrote to [email]verification@wptglobal.com[/email] on 01.06.24 to inquire about it but did not receive a response. After one week of waiting, I received an automated response on 04.06.24 stating that my withdrawal was rejected. On the same day, my account was locked.
I sent several emails to [email]customercare@wptglobal.com[/email], but I have not received any responses. I am now locked out without any notification or explanation and have received no response from support.
Could you please assist me with this issue?

Just a small suggestion Alex, would it be possible to standardize all the 5/10/20 and 10/20/40 tables to just having a (5) and (10) ante respectively? It seems those are the only stakes where some games have smaller antes than the other games. Thanks

Hi, I'm a PLO regular and I have the following criticisms and questions to ask:
Criticisms
1) the rake in HU and 3way is monstrously high, it is impossible to try to start a table if there is not at least one occasional VIP player (i.e. super loser)
2) the fact of being able to enter and succeed with the minimum stack after a 2up is something that should absolutely be taken away even if the player who loves to do it the most is the recreationa
1 - The rake is set at the network level, but on the WPTG side we are pumping a lot of this money back to players via promotions like the Great Game Leaderboard: https://wptglobal.com/poker-promotions/g... - I do see your point about the player pool not being the same as NLHE.
2 - Agreed. Again, a network level decision but we have a lot more influence now than we used to, so I hope to see this change.
3 - I don't understand your question, could you rephrase?

No it is not.
Considerations
Net of the current situation, I don't think the games are beatable in European times, given the new small number of occasional players, the high number of regulars (good or bad) and the high rake. I read from you Alex that the regulars have x5 winrates compared to other sites. I think the PLO situation is a little different.
This statement also derives from the fact that I cannot control my EV line, since my hands cannot be saved (at least I think) and although I think I run very badly, I cannot check if my sensation is correct (our mind always brings to remind us of the badbeats and not the lucky breaks)
We are not live in many European countries yet, so you're right, action in PLO during peak European time is not as good. (There's much more action during Latam peak time). When we talk about winrates in NLHE, they are much higher than other sites (that's where the 5x number comes from, specifically NLHE). I suspect our PLO games are also better than elsewhere but I don't have the data to support this yet.
Also agree with this. The rationale behind the lack of transparency is to get rid of datamining and HUDs; alright, fine. But I don't know my winrate, my ROI, or how much I am paying in rake per bb/100. The reg(s) claming they win x5 compared to other sites can't possibly know that. I wish we could at least see our own winnings like in GG Poker - but make sure it's also possible to see how much we are paying in rake.
RE: Hand histories - we are working on a solution that will enable players to track their own gameplay, but it's early stages and I don't have an ETA for a full release.
I tried to download the app for ios over the series as a back up (Thailand has power cuts in rainy season). Couldn't find it in the apple store. Is it yet to come to Thailand?

My question was the following: if in the tables with 3blinds the rake is capped at 1 blind (e.g. 10/20/40 cap is 40) in the tables without the straddle how much is the rake capped? I don't believe that in a 10/20 table the rake cap is 40
we need a another 0.20/50(0.10) table for plo5card please
somehow only 1 is available and full most of the time while every other stake has 2 tables

hi i cannot login my account today and found that the pop up message shown my account has been locked due to security reasons , what is happening actually?
I witnessed a regular player, leave the table and come back moments later in a different and more advantageous seat.
I've seen them do this many times, they are repeat offenders.
I think it's not only predatory but rude.
Is there some way I can report this player for such behaviour?
So they get a warning or something for example, maybe the culprit doesnt realise how bad this can be for the games, or maybe they truly believe that they are the o

has to be the worst offender on the plo lowstakes tables, always ratholes, changes seat to be on the position of the fish and the worst thing is im pretty sure he is barely winning but I had several games breaking because recreationals got so annoyed by his antics and left
im also shocked this happens on lowstakes nowadays
1. I like current 4 table limit on cash games, please don't change it. It already sometimes takes quite a bit of time to get 3/4 tables at 25/50/100 even with starting tables. I would expect it getting quite a bit worse with higher limit. I would also expect that higher table cap would make the games tougher as best regulars would be able to occupy more seats. I think that not many recreational players want to play more than 4 tables and if they do, they can always try spins or tournaments next to the cash games.
2. I think it would be nice if you would be removing empty tables from the lobby faster. Sometimes there is 2 empty tables for the same stake like 25/50/100 bomb for a while.
Also if there is two tables with one person sitting would like if You could remove one of them. I think those changes would make lobby a little cleaner and better for most players.

Could you elaborate, what type of game are you trying to play? It's also possible there was scheduled maintenance at the particular time you were trying to play, but this would be announced in the notifications section of the client.

I'm going to have this updated on the website but if you mean the 10/20 (50 ante) CNY tables the answer is the cap is 40 with 2-4 players and 80 with 5+ players

It's inevitable that we'll increase the table cap beyond 4 at some point, FairGame should be plenty to protect the ecology of the games.

No, we never do this. We have blocked a fairly large group recently for cheating, but nothing due to winrate.
