I could watch the debate and still retain sobriety!

drink every time one of them says something that makes you want to vote for him

it's insane that maybe 75% of the country would never take a drink

lol democracy

I was trying to think of mainstream anti capitalist voices in the USA. I could only think of Malcolm x and Martin Luther king. both of them assassinated

lol freedom of speech

Hmmm.

Bingo.

In fairness I probably won't even watch, I'll just "follow" along on twitter and drink every time someone tweets something amusing about it. If Biden freezes or Trump does something explicitly incriminating I'll be drinking all of the alcohol in the house.

Okay, the takes on twitter made me turn it on. Holy hell does Biden look awful.

lolol Biden but I admit, I like this format.

The split screen view is my favorite.

I keep muting it, but even watching it muted is fascinating. Biden's body language is horrifying. Starting to wonder if his campaign insisting on no audience is backfiring.

Oh hey, we just got a smug Trump. Yeah, the side-by-side video is the best, just so we can see ALL the ridiculousness.

Why does Biden stare off to the right??? That seems like a simple posture fix caught during practice rounds.

Trump looks like a pitbull.

talk about a declining empire lol

Trump is the same awful person he always has been. He doesn't look or sound that much different than he did in 2016.

Biden, however, looks like the undead and sounds like his brain turned to tapioca recently.

Maybe Biden needs to borrow some of Trumps Orange(tm) makeup?

The White House just announced: Biden had a cold!

That explains it.

Can't wait to read the post-debate hot takes.

Mine is that for all the nonsense we heard about the 25th amendment during the end of the Trump presidency, Biden today is a million times closer to having that invoked, or at least he should be. What an awful, awful, awful performance.

In a game of golf, Trump vs Biden, I'm taking Trump at almost any odds.

Trending on twitter: #swapJoeout

But again I assume this doesn't change much because as Bill Maher says, "He'll vote Biden in a box over voting Trump". I'm guessing that fits many Americans.

If Biden insists on being the nominee, I have it as 100% that they go back to the basement strategy. Hide him from the public and let Trump do enough stupid stuff to torpedo his own chances. The second debate gets canceled and any appearances are super scripted and short.

No doubt that there is a substantial 'blue no matter who' vote, but the risk to Biden here is as much that people who dislike Trump just won't turn out. I think you'll see more of that than of people lining up to change their vote to Trump.

I'm watching MSNBC. Gavin Newsome for some reason is wearing a giant smile.

I wonder if he'll be that happy when he gets passed over for Kamala.

That's definitely going to be the question for the next week, who is the nominee? Newsom? Kamala? Hillary? Michelle Obama?

Lots of wingnuts on twitter right now saying they predicted this exact scenario and that it was all done to be able to dump Biden. But ... for who?

But in the recent past we saw that they did turn out and vote against Trump. We had a record number of voters and Republicans (stupidly) lost the Senate.

a lot of people on the left are refusing to vote for Biden cuz of the genocide

and imo it doesn't help that Dems lost abortion, refused to defund the police, **** the bed on the climate and immigration and healthcare and education

and also openly collude with Republicans to keep out any other parties

CNN had Kamala on for some spin and I just couldn't bring myself to listen.

Newsom is horrible but he's much better at media than Harris.

finally saw some clips from the debate....

lmao wow it's even worse than I thought!

what a joke of a country

Couldn't watch more than 30 mins. I'm horrified about the state of politics in this country. Our choices are Cersei Lannister or Hodor. If Trump wasn't such an evil pos, Biden would be absolutely ****ed right now

My hunch is that Michelle Obama seems most likely, and it might even work. That's assuming they can even pry Joe's stiff lifeless fingers off the levers of power. Tall order indeed!
