Some of the claims were ridiculous????? I think 90% of what Trump said was ridiculous.

Highlight BY FAR was the golf argument. I could not have been prouder to be an American at that moment.

God help us.

I only listened to a short part of the debate and know some other things based on reading the forum.

I am sure he said mostly ridiculous things, but the after birth abortion thing must be the most egregious.

Yeah, last I checked it's illegal in every state. He also said every legal scholar wanted Roe V Wade overturned. OMG.

Wasn't what Biden said during the golf argument far more ridiculous? No way Biden is a +6 or even +20. No way Biden could carry his own bag for 18 either.

That was by far the best part of the debate. This is America!

The part where he talked about carrying his bag was most ridiculous of all. The dude can't even walk.

i actually looked it up, found reports from before the debate (which i think is key) that said he had a 6 or 7 handicap previously but hadn't played since 2018 - same source said trump was a 3 handicap though...

The after birth abortion claim is so abhorrent and horrifying. Babies that are born with fatal abnormalities were carried to term and birthed by mothers who went through labor and wanted them very very much. Those women didn’t abort their babies; their babies died.

Re the golf handicap. Dementia patients typically talk about stuff from years ago as if they are happening in the present tense. The scariest thing about the debate for me though is that this is the guy in charge of the nuclear football.

God help us.

The worst part was by far using the term "Palestinian" as a slur while the IDF and Israeli officials are on trial for an ongoing "plausible genocide" and "war of extermination".

This would actually be a solid point if it didn't come from someone who wants Donald Trump to have the nuclear football.

and both candidates fully agree on supporting the genocide. and the American electorate agree to vote for them

and i'd guess that Biden was offended by being called Palestinian(as if that was an insult), or at least Biden would have been offended if he was still able to understand language

that part was really bad, but the worst part might have been when trump was like it was awesome that i banned abortion, and biden responded with mexicans are rapists. (paraphrasing, obviously)

and there were a couple more like that, where biden agreed with something awful that trump said, or yes and'd something even worse. pretty great that there was such stiff competition for most horrifying moment of the night

It is just amazing any lib itt can say democracy is at stake in this election and then say oh Biden had a bad night, he was much better the next day. JFC talk about stupid.

It was more like "people are illegally crossing the border and raping people because of my policies and he doesn't want them to have abortions!"

Biden campaign wanted no interruptions and insisted on the mic cutoff

That didn't preclude fact checking but cnn decided to let the candidates speak without criticizing

Biden chose cnn as well

Trump agreed to the terms but didn't propose them

Those are the facts

by #Thinman P

now pretzel that into "prepared answers and not be questioned"

let us see the thinking that gets you from the above to what you posted...in real time...should be fascinating.

you forgot to reply mets. show us how smart you are...

I'm not taking the bait

Make fun of me if it excites you

you're the one posting that biden demanded to not be questioned....at a debate

Biden demanded no audience at all
No rfk
He chose the networks and moderators
He chose the number of debates (trump wanted 4 to 7)
He chose the dates (one before early voting and none in the month leading to to the election)
He chose no rfk
He chose the mic cutoffs and no interruptions
I still think he chose no fact checking unofficially but if I'm wrong about that so be it ..

No I don't feel like an idiot. He should

so you are saying that he did not demand he not be questioned, as you originally stated?

whoever came up with the rules, i support moderators not factchecking anything. candidates' job to call bullshit live to demonstrate what they (don't) know. media can and does fact check everything after the fact.

Maybe if factchecking was a thing in debates, showing to the world how dumb a candidate can be , maybe we would had less idiots as politicians.

Might as well enlighten some dummy electorate too at the same time .

assumes dummy electorate would trust jake tapper and dana bash as arbiters of truth, which they do not. moderator fact checks would devolve into debates between lying donald and moderators.

Is fact checking during a debate even a thing? I didn't think they needed to ask to debate without it, just as they wouldn't need to ask for there not to be slime. Are we not using this term to mean the same thing?

I think that people are using the term "fact checking" as shorthand for moderators following up with specifics in response to obvious lies.

There have been debates where the moderators would butt in and say "that's not true" but I agree with the above that it should be the debaters nor the moderators who do that

Or you could fact check in subtitles on tv then .
