ex-President Trump

ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:

a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?

b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

I had to think about this a bit.

I don't have any strong opinions on your naivity . It's nothing personal.

However, most of us are middle aged, which means we were bombarded with corporate propaganda in our formative years. E.g universal hc is extremely expensive and it's difficult to get treatment. The US annihilates countries to help them. Policies that exist in every other country and are favored by the majority of the GP are radical L

This situation is why people consider both parties the same. Corporations donate to everyone and they all have the same interests: big military, big prisons, private "health care", families suck and die.

At least now we have a reason to vote for the pro corporate democrats. Corporate clowns is better than nazis.

My description of my ideal politician has nothing to do with reality. I made that clear.

I don't have strong feelings about paid family leave as a specific political issue. I simply cited an article that made it clear that things were more complicated than your pithy "Dems killed paid family leave."

As for progressive politicians generally, I've made my position clear. I see little in state-level election results to convince me that a progressive Democrat would do well in a national election in swing states, which is where such elections are won and lost.

I haven't said anything in my discussions with you about which policies would "work." For example, it is obviously correct that many highly advanced countries have much broader public health care than we have in the United States. FWIW, I am convinced that our weird public/private hybrid is very suboptimal. And if I were starting a country from scratch, I suspect I would be more inclined in the direction of a public model.

As an aside, if you believe that Obama was an anti-Wall Street candidate or president, you are very mistaken.

I don't know anything about you either, but if you are imagining that I was born into a circumstance that shielded me from the experiences of the Uber drivers and Home Depot employees of the world, you are wildly mistaken.

recent UK Election and international polling data expose how abnormal Trump’s conduct and behavior is

Trump is always saying that all of these countries are laughing at us. NO Donald, they're laughing at YOU!

No they are laughing at both candidates

Secret Service agents have rushed former President Donald Trump off stage after loud noises rang out at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Footage showed Trump ducking as sharp cracks - apparently shots - broke out.

He was quickly swarmed by secret service agents and rushed off stage to a waiting vehicle.

Trump appeared to raise a fist as he was led off stage.

He is fine apparantly but it does appear he was hit

Video showed blood on his ear and snipers on a roof near the stage where Trump was standing, the Reuters news agency reported.

and ****ing hell there's a golden picture of him with blood on his face and fist raised.

Stay classy, Milwaukee.

Butler county district attorney Richard Goldinger tells me Trump was grazed by gunfire but is safe. An audience member was killed and the shooter is dead. Another person is in serious condition, the prosecutor said.

could have been a great day in american history

Mod note: Such posts celebrating the assassination attempt or suggesting it should happen are not ok.

Trump's been to jail, he's been shot at. He's basically 50 cent now. No way Biden wins.

We could just play back all the comments Trump made while Pelosi’s husband was in the hospital. But that would ruin the fun of holding rando internet commentators to higher standards than a president.

It would mean trump dragging us down to his level.

That would be his ultimate victory over us. We should not concede. There is nothing but bad about this attack.

...but the aim

The shocking successes of Obama, Trump and Bernie tell us nothing. The polls saying Bernie would trounce Trump are also wrong.

I just cannot understand how a person can believe anything like this.

Yes those polls are wrong. Hilary Clinton had a 66% favorability rating in 2013. Biden's were in a similar range in 2016. Michelle Obama's have been high the whole time Being popular when you're not actually running for president isn't that hard. We have every reason to think Sanders would crash like everyone else if he actually got the nomination.

All this talk about who should replace Joe Biden, who would have replaced Donald Trump since Trump hadn't picked a VP yet? The GOP delegate count was something like 2,268 for Trump with the next closest being Nikki Haley dropping out in March with only 97 delegates and Ron DeSantis at 9 delegates.

I'm curious to see how Trump refers to the man who tried to kill him. For reference, here's how he referred to the 1/6 rioters who broke into the captial and went looking for Pelosi and Pence while chanting to hang him.

The Jan. 6 select committee has heard testimony indicating that then-President Donald Trump — after rioters who swarmed the Capitol began chanting “hang Mike Pence” — expressed support for hanging his vice president, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The White House chief of staff at the time, Mark Meadows, was in the dining room off the Oval Office with Trump at one point during last year’s Capitol attack, the committee has been told. Meadows then left the dining room and informed other people nearby that Trump had signaled a positive view of the prospect of hanging the vice president, the panel heard.

Meadows’ account as it was described to the committee came after some members of the mob converging on the Capitol had broken into chants of “Hang Mike Pence!” Those chants were a reaction to Pence’s decision to accept electoral votes that indicated Joe Biden had won the presidency.

Sensor Joker Douchebag Vance already blamed rhetoric from the Biden campaign for nearly getting Trump killed, but the word this evening was that the shooter was a 20yo registered republican voter.

I saw he was registered whatever that means in 2021. that would have made him 17? weird. but thats 3 years ago he only had a partially developed brain for like 6 years. I would wait for more info before concluding hes a republican. Maybe he was at 17 but your views will change alot from 17-20

I think the main point is.…
Does it really matter what facking party he belongs to when a nutcase do something like this ?
People are really ready to politicize everything .

Hopefully dems won’t fall as low as maga on this .

Whatever info comes out, he was still a registered Republican, which is the only way you can be one. Regardless of anything else, he certainly wasn't a Democrat.

I think you guys should wait for a lot more info before deciding that any blame for this can be placed on those who oppose Trump for the anti-democratic things he has already done, and those he has promised in the future.

UBy the way, I like candidates who don't get shot.

being registered to one party and not voting based on policy is degenerate. Deciding at the age of 17 your a republican and can only be a republican is even more degenerate. Assassinating's your party's leader would have been the most degenerate of all.

but saying he is a republican and couldn't have changed his political views especially since hes so young without proof after he shot the leading republican might be the most degenerate of all
