So the American antisemitic left and Israeli right are both freaking out over the prospect of Harris choosing a Jewish VP. The former because they are antisemitic, and the latter because he is much more critical of Netanyahu than anyone else on both sides of the political aisle, and it is harder to just dismiss him as an antisemite.

Apparently Harris is now on record claiming she is against a fracking ban, against a federal job guarantee, and against single payer in healthcare (all positions she came in favour of at some point in the last 5-6 years).

I actually think the progressive left would reject Sanders if he ran today, just on account of him having Jewish ancestry. I think antisemitism is a much more important part of the progressive platform than it was 8 years ago. Whether this is just a temporary feature due to the response to 10/7, or the new standard moving forward I dont know.

I don't know that they would reject him as a whole, but he certainly would not be as popular. It is a serious shame that in 2024, we are dealing with antisemitism at these levels. Some people try to sugarcoat things with the whole "I don't hate Jews; I hate Israel" line, but it is clear that we are in a new era of antisemitism, and it was simmering well before 10/7.

They let IRI/Hezbollah break a UN order and plant an army right on their northern border, that they have been attacking Israel from for most of the last year. In hindsight Israel should have been more forceful to not let this happen. Although they received a lot of pressure from the West to allow Hezbollah to do this, so blame should be spread around.

I don’t see a rise in antisemitism at all !
Certainly not in Canada …
But I do see a rise of criticism vs Israel which I don’t consider being antisemitism but just extremely bad (far right ) policies .

Ps: I don’t try being clever I just say what I see from an uninvolved uninterested stance .

a major part in anti-semitism rising is due to every time someone says "israel is bad" it's classified as anti-semitism. anti-semitism is bad, saying israel is bad and that palestinians have a right to be free and unharmed is not anti-semitism.

the idea the that left is somehow anti-Semitic because they don't want israel to murder tens of thousands of innocent people is farcical.
