I think the biggest lesson I've learned this cycle is that online isn't reality. Shocking, I know! But what appears to be normal online isn't as normal when people are face to face.

Here is the reality. I/P is a divisive issue within the Democratic party. You don't have to agree or disagree that the sharpest critics of Israel are antisemitic in order to acknowledge that divisiveness. Kamala doesn't want to spend any more time than necessary (which will be a lot in any event) focusing on an issue that is internally divisive. Shapiro has been more vocally supportive of Israel than some Democrats. For that reason, putting him on the ticket could have focused the spotlight on I/P even more than it already is.
For better or worse, Kamala selected someone who probably has no presidential ambitions of his own and who would push the debate more in the direction of her domestic economic agenda. Whether that sort of thinking is smart or craven depends on your perspective, I suppose.

He also lied about "carrying weapons" at war and his rank in the military. Walz won't make it to the convention, he's on thin ice rn and will be replaced hopefully sooner rather than later (whatever the MSM says is the reason for his replacement will be a lie as usual). Universally beloved is over the top. Walz doesn't have much of national profile at all. If you randomly stopped Americans on the street 2 weeks ago, over 90% of them probably wouldn't know a single thing about him.
That being said, I dont agree right wing smear campaigns against him are going to turn the country against the Harris campaign in the way Playbig seems to think.
2 people that have never held private sector jobs running the country is kinda the perfect recipe for communism.
I've seen enough of him at this point that I'm incredibly jealous my dad was such a putz. I'm sure many disenfranchised MAGA types holding deep trauma from their child hood are intrinsically made uncomfortable by someone with so much outward compassion and love.
