2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

I’m fully prepared to be let down.

DK 200k. pick 8

I was caught off guard when all the QB 2's went off the board so I panicked and took Bryce unstacked. Hopefully I just need him for one week.

I waited late on TE's. I know Henry is hurt but he went in the 19th. He has same bye week as Andrews so I took T Johnson.

Did I over do it on RB's?

Did I under do it on WR's?

QB) Hurts, Bryce

RB) Walker, Brooks, Edwards, Benson, Allgeier, Herbert, Perine, E Wilson.

WR) AJ, Kupp, D Smith, Coleman, Jamo, Ladd, Downs

TE) Andrews, Henry, T Johnson

100% fade on the highlighted teams from here on out. Not a huge deal since I have decent exposure to all of them anyways.

Rev do you feel more or less confident about Kene Nwangwu after the Vikings waived him? Looks like the Saints picked him up pretty quickly.

I actually thought we might break even due to him being waived I honestly still think we’ll break even . I believe I took a sucker bet with the Akers vs kene lol

It's pretty remarkable how many people are still drafting McCarthy.

Same with Elijah Mitchell

Faded all the teams I highlighted above. Think it turned out okay. Full CHI/SEA w17 onslaught.

1.12

QB - Caleb, Stafford, Geno

RB - JT, Mostert, Moss, Spears, Davis, Herbert

WR - Puka, DJM, DK, Odunze, Gabe, M. Wilson, Malik, Flournoy

TE - Andrews, Fant, Parkinson

Brisett named w1 starter. Not too surprising and I drafted Maye assuming brissett would start, but would’ve been nice to get Maye from w1

Say it ain’t so, Jerod!

Yep not surprising in the least. 0 reason to start Maye Week 1.

Just maxed out the final $200k on DK. This'll probably be it for me unless I decide to enter a few more over the weekend.

Final exposures

In a 10 team full ppr 300$ auction league I keep Gibbs (48$), Kyren (10$) and I can also keep one of Olave (5$), AJB (80$), AR15 (2$) and Saquon (90$). Out of the top guys CD, JJ and Bijan will not be kept. For reference JJ went for 123$ last year.
I think Olave looks to be more value, but I really want no part of that Saints offense. Which one would you choose?

Has to be Olave for that cost. He’s a top 25 redraft pick.

In a 10 tm start 2RB/2WR/TE/Flex PPR league, no bonuses, I’m planning to go RB/RB from the 9 spot.

Assuming both Breece and Bijan are gone, which combo do you like best?

JT/Gibbs
JT/Achane
Gibbs/Achane

If Breece or Bijan are there, I’ll likely plan to pair them with JT. If JT goes to the 10 spot, not sure who I like more between Gibbs and Achane.

Not really considering Saquon or Kyren.

For me it’s Gibbs/Achane

By projection it’s JT/Gibbs

I just personally am not the biggest fan of JT in fantasy and Gibbs/Achane just feels like the more fun approach

Just realized that’s the league I’m in haha (ignore my advice)

Haha, I figure you're probably taking Breece or Bijan at 1.06.

Gibbs/Achane is definitely more fun, but I do lean a JT combo, especially because of the projection. I don't see how he isn't a 80-90%+ snap share guy. The RB room behind him is abysmal. I also have a few dynasty shares each of Gibbs and Achane with no shares of JT, so that's an added appeal to me to be able to sweat him on at least one managed squad.

And if AR goes down, switching to Flacco would also be a boost to JT's receiving. But even if not, defenses accounting for AR's runs should open up lanes.

I lean JT/Gibbs, but it'll be an internal debate until our draft Sunday night.

Has to be Olave for that cost. He’s a top 25 redraft pick.

Not keeping Olave for basically free to pay market price for AJB or Barkley seems like textbook FPS

This is literally what I was thinking lol, but wanted to be sure.

I still think I'm not keeping Olave in favor AR15. In 10 teamers as someone said earlier I believe it's more important to have top guys at their position and he has a chance to be the QB1. Also Mahomes, Allen, Lamar went for about 50$ in latest years, Hurts will probably go around the same this year whereas you can get a guy like Olave for around 20-30$ from my personal experience.

Really appreciate the input guys gl.

AR as a top fantasy QB is still a lot of projection based on the few games we saw last year. He certainly has the upside, and if QBs go for that high in your league, especially relative to Olave potentially only costing $20-30, then I don't blame you for considering AR over Olave.

With that said, Olave is basically locked for 140+ targets assuming good health, which is likely going to be rare upside available for anyone still remaining in the pool. And not available at all for $5. Whereas, I'm guessing Kyler, Jayden, Caleb, etc. are going to be way cheaper than the top QBs and likely have similar overall upside.

I'm also bullish on the Saints scheme being much better than last season given the OC change. I get why you don't want to be in. The Oline is a concern, Dennis Allen is a cuck, they don't have much outside of Olave, Carr is standard, etc., but it's not hard to see the path to Olave having top 10 WR potential.

You are right and this is basically why it's such a hard decision as I also just listened to Evan Silva from ETR saying he has him as the 13th overall player lol. We'll see how it goes.

Does anyone here do Yahoo best ball or Yahoo public fantasy at all? Or are you guys all Underdog drafters?

Last year was my first best ball season. As far as sites go, I lost the most on Fan Duel by far compared to the other sites. This year I am only sticking to Yahoo and Underdog and only doing 10 man drafts, so that I don't get thrown off on when to draft players when switching between the 10 man, vs the 12, 8 or 6 man drafts.

I've done about 70 best ball drafts so far at really low stakes. But I will start doing some managed drafts on Yahoo public in the next few days.

Did a PPR startup 6 man keeper leauge $200 auction draft. Was definitely interesting because some teams went top heavy to get strong keepers for future years while others have more balanced rosters. I went top heavy and spent the majority of my budget on 4 studs and then got some cheap rookies with good keeper value.

Chase $63
St. Brown $55
Etienne $37
Nico $23
Jonathan brooks $6
Bowers $3
Kyler $1

Pretty much everyone else was a dollar or two

Qb: Kyler
Rb: etienne, brooks, Hubbard, Herbert, mason, Braelon Allen, ray Davis, Tracy, Perine
WR: Chase, st Brown, nico, Palmer, cooks, Jalen mcmillian
Te: bowers, taysom hill

Prob won’t contend this year unless I find some gems on waivers or hit with lottery ticket rbs. Just hopping brooks and bowers look good so I have an elite group of 6 for next year

I don't think you can go wrong either way, obviously both are great value at those prices but I prefer to stream QBs the same way you guys stream Defenses and Kickers. If a 10 team 1QB league has shallow benches you can probably find a top 10 guy every week
