ex-President Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Tanya Chutkan isn't having any of it at least.
Chutkan told Trump’s lawyers she’s “not concerned with the electoral schedule” in response to them trying to drag out the case, adding there “needs to be some forward motion in this case regardless of when an election is scheduled,”
What is this press conference? He has just ranted about few sexual assault accusations against him for a good while. Is he seriously just whining because of E. Jean Carroll case or is something new coming out soon.
His lawyers behind him seem like they've had better days.
edit: finished now. I think I hear at least two people clapping.
New Legal Eagle video on Trump court shenanigans just dropped.
Our President's sentencing as just been postponed until the end of November. What a blow to the democrats!
Why is this a blow?
prosecutors afaik didn't push for an earlier date and told the judge to make the call
What on earth would that have to do with the democrats?
Can’t believe they would be so political
I think I've lost track of which trial we're talking about. There's so many.
They have been very deferential to SCOTUS immunity decision lately, I appreciated that.
Which actually meant reading the opinion and rec rafting the lawsuit in the other case, and in this case telling the judge he has to make the call, as scotus said.
Very good rule of law conduct by Dems in action after that decision
Biden?
+1
There are 4. But we only got one verdict, for which we are still waiting sentencing.
The "34 counts" (lol) of criminal falsification of business records (because it purportedly was in order to conceal another crime, which was never proven), NYS case, Alvin Bragg prosecuting
Maybe the judge is actually gonna sentence him to some prison time? Didn't think it would happen, but definitely would make sense to move the sentencing in that case. Not really sure how that would work though.
Prison -> confine to Mar-a-lago.
How much stuff does trump have to do before you realize he's the bad guy, not everyone else.
Using the classic 'not hot enough' defence...
"And frankly — I know you're going to say it's a terrible thing to say — but it couldn't have happened, it didn't happen, and she would not have been the chosen one. She would not have been the chosen one."
so does that change your prior probabilities and give more credence to the prosecutions not being political?
No? But for sure democrats are playing the long game which includes formal adherence to the rule of law, while using every legal option they have for their political gain.
Very smart of them and not always expected.
I will never expect anyone with a political appointment to ever act not politically btw (unless I have reasons to expect irrationality).
What they are doing *is legal*, with no ifs and buts, and very "formal", this can gain approval from moderates, never Trumpers and so on. Very smart of them in this political cycle.
Btw I also think Trump didn't throw the book to HRC with his DOJ even if he could, because he thought he would gain politically to do so, not because he was "moral"
? Every politician that can reach the top is a horrible human being lol, that's what the system selects for.
Only a psychopath can desire the kind of pressure from national media that is inherent in national political office. Every normal person would flee from that.
You can only choose among which interests they will represent, none of them should ever be allowed to spend 2 hours alone with your kids.
Jimmy Carter?
I think because corruption is so high in italy you are transposing Italian issues onto America. Happens a lot when Americans try to understand other countries so I assume this is what’s happening now.
I wonder what political gain they have or can do .
Biden didn’t even pardon his own son .
