2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

I’m really into Deebo this year too and am also scared haha.

But him being in camp all summer, with great reports, makes me bullish he might be the top passing option. Even with the Aiyuk extension resolved.

I also think with the Trent Williams situation, plus a shaky line elsewhere, they’ll really prioritize getting him the ball quickly.

I would be more worried about Aiyuk depending on the price you paid for him. I think SF will continue to be SF with smart gameplans keeping opposing teams off balance and everyone is going to have their weeks that they eat. Aiyuk I'm worried about because if SF stays the course he doesn't necessarily get a big uptick in targets which means he needs to keep up his insane efficiency to return last year's numbers. I'm still more than happy to have him I just don't think any one on SF is going to return a typical #1 type consistency week to week but will even out in the end and those spike weeks are game winners for you.

He just has so many meh games . But he can have some nuclear games too though .

I definitely have that perception too. But every time I look at his box scores, I come away feeling like he's more consistent than I think.

He really only had one game I would consider bad last season. This is PPR scoring, but he scored .6 points on 87% of the snaps in w4. He played the majority of the snaps in 12 regular season games last season. Besides the .6 point output, he had two other single digit games at 9.2 and 9.4. The other 9 games were all double digit, with 6/9 going over 20 points in PPR. Two of those were over 30 points.

In his boom 2021 season, he didn't have one single digit PPR game.

2022 was a disappointment after his 2021 season, but even in the games he played, he was still pretty good.

Yeah, Aiyuk is a fade for me in managed at his cost, but I still drafted even with the field in best ball since I won't have to think about starting his boom games.

His efficiency was insane last year, and I think he can still maintain it over the course of the season, but his weekly floor is still pretty low.

I 100% faded Aiyuk when he was going early to mid second early in the year. I've been drafting a ton of him recently in the third where he belonged all along.

I drafted him from the top all the way down haha. I didn't want to be completely out, so I was still mixing him in at his higher price. I think he would have stayed early to mid 2nd without the hold out and trade rumors.

I was, and still am, of the opinion that there is a big tier from early second to mid third. So I never viewed it much differently.

That sounds like a good best ball pick.

Do any of you know how to look up player exposure on Drafters?

That’s why I’ve been taking him .

On desktop, if you click on the drop down menu under your username in the upper right corner, you'll see it as the third option.

On mobile, if you click the three line drop down menu in the upper left, you'll see it as the 5th option down.

47% Tyrone Tracy in 14 drafts. Lets go!

Thanks!

In an auction draft Wednesday where if everyone kept the keepers they were supposed to, only 1 1st rd pick would be available, but someone kept Mahomes for $30 over CMC for $60 and another person seemingly forgot they can keep Puka for $5, so now AJB, CMC, Puka are all available

I’m keeping Chase for $35 (god I hope he signs) and Rashee Rice for $1 (thought he was $5 but turns out only $1) and I start with more money than everyone els

If ~9 first rounders are being kept, intuitively I'd think AJB & Puka would go higher than $45 (if everyone has $200 to start, modulo the trades that netted you the extra $).

In that case, I'd prioritize Puka over AJB. (I get AJB is going slightly ahead of Puka in redraft this year...but Puka is who you want 😉 ).

One thing I noticed dfs for week 1

Ekeler cost more than Brob

All of the Washington Wr core is as cheap as it gets

What’s some things that’s stand out that may be a barometer of how the best ball season will kick off

Brian Thomas jr is also super cheap .

Week 1 is 7% of 25% of the best ball season, so I would say the w1 dfs prices have practically 0% importance on how to draft best ball

I disagree wholeheartedly. Not only are the prices are gauge of whose coming in undervalued because I highly doubt week in week out Brian Thomas jr or the Washington wr are going to be this cheap all year which should indicate value in lower rounds

I love him for week 1 but I also love malik nabers at 5.9 reminds me of chase when he was 5k flat as a rookie

I don’t disagree with you that BTJR has a chance to become a value relative to his current dfs price, but if you used his current w1 dfs price you would come to the opposite conclusion, which proves my point that it has no bearing

And if you used his best ball price as a reason to play him in dfs, you would be overrating him bc the best ball price factors 2 things into his value, only 1 of which matters for dfs

1. Rookies having wider ranges of outcomes due to the unknown (matters in w1 dfs)

2. Rookies production is normally back weighted (does not matter in w1 dfs)

Very true counter arguments but I would counter with players such as Brian Robinson going ahead of ekeler despite one costing more when the season actually starts or the Washington receivers are going be as horrible as their projections in best ball. I just look at those things to see if edges that can be gained .. but I do like your point about if I look at it from an opposite perspective he’s overrated good call on that sentiment

I hate that FD has the LAR/DET game that starts at 8:25pm on Sunday's Main Slate.

Just drafted in tarheels league, how’d I do?

I thought te would get back to me and then Pitts, engram, Kincaid, and Kittle all got taken so I double tapped it a few rds later

Wish I had taken Warren first then Njoku or Ferguson. Probably my biggest mistake

Ppr

Qb - Hurts
Rb - Bijan
Rb - Singletary
Wr - G Wilson
Wr - Olave
Te - Njoku
Flex - Rice
K - Aubrey
DST - Sea

Bench Rb - Zamir, Benson, Vidal
Bench wr - Nabers, Rome
Bench te - Bowers

I'd say tarheels advertising this as a soft league is fake news.

Jimmy made it sharper. You should see some of the other teams.

I like his team. WRs were great value. Bijan as the hero with some upside plus early production. I figured you weren't happy having to settle for Zamir haha. Njoku/Bowers is a solid TE consolation.

My team has a wide range, but I went for the upside.

Gibbs/Achane at the 1/2 from the 9 spot plus Pitts/AR in the 5/6 will make or break. I also think I should have taken RB over JSN in the 10th.

Qb - AR
Rb - Gibbs
Rb - Achane
Wr - Deebo
Wr - Kupp
Te - Pitts
Flex - McLaurin
K -
DST -

Bench Rb - Rico, JK, Chandler, Gibson, Kendre, Keaton, Ray Davis
Bench wr - Worthy, BTJ, JSN

Kendre and Keaton hit IR. Will need to drop 2 for K/DST.

I almost cried when I had to draft Zamir haha

Your team is very good

Haha, he’s not a fun click.

I might regret JK over Singletary, but figured I’d chase the ceiling.
