2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

Hound. slot 4. I left myself thin again at back up QB and TE. Got sniped on Burrow, Herbert, Geno.

QB) Kyler, Maye

RB) Warren, Benson, Edwards, Ekeler, Lloyd, Chubb

WR) Chase, Aiyuk, Metcalf, Higgins, McConkey, D Douglas, D Robinson, J baker

TE) Mcbride, Hurst.

I find myself going more thin at both QB and TE in my slow drafts where I can think through plans versus my fast drafts. Ending up with more 3 QB and/or 3 TE slows versus more 2 in fasts, since I usually aim to lock up both positions earlier in fasts to not get locked out.

But I like this team, although Hurst as TE2 is pretty gross. I’m not sure I’ve drafted Hurst once.

Hopefully Warren, Edwards and Ekeler give you enough for Benson, Lloyd and Chubb to catch up.

From the 11 spot. The good ole 3-6-6-3.

Tua (9.11), Love (12.02), CJ (17.11)

Mattison (6.02), Swift (7.11), Conner (8.02), Mostert (13.11), Chuba (16.02), Kyren (18.02)

ARSB (1.11), CD (2.02), Amari (3.11), Watson (4.02), Pickens (5.11), Reed (15.11)

Muth (10.02), LaPorta (11.11), Juwan (14.02)

So I looked at that winning roster and the year before (I think), and the position where those players were taken in the actual draft.

Both years

1. No one drafted past the 5th round
2. Had 2 undrafted players (load up on Keaton Mitchell this year lol)
3. All QBs were 1st round picks
4. All TEs taken no later than the 2nd or undrafted

That's an interesting exercise. That's Liam's roster from BBM2.

Here is Pat's from BBM3.

Similar outcome.

Seems like we want to target some undrafted players. While perhaps minimizing our exposure to skill players drafted past the 5th round. (I'm looking at you Pacheco).

Pretty crazy that both Ekeler and Mostert were undrafted.

Also, pretty funny that two of the best late round hits ever were 5th round picks, coincidentally by the same team. Could be noise. Could be something to it. Hard not to like Pacheco, though, especially in .5 PPR. Definitely says more about QB, TE, and WR, than RB, imo.

I tried to find Justin's winning team from BBM1 but gave up after a couple of minutes.

Yeah I wouldn't say I'm not heavy on Pacheco because he was a 7th round pick. It's more to liking ETN way more in that range.

Also all the talk about the Chiefs being a lot more pass heavy, which may or not be true.

I think I'm pretty happy with the amount of Pacheco I have at this point.

His price is better on UD than DK.

Just read on rotoworld that Estime is gonna push to take Javontes starting job.

I obviously take these pieces of news with a grain of salt .

I hope not… I’m overweight on both but way higher on Javonte

25% Javonte
12% Estime
0% Jaleel

I’ve seen. A bunch of experts talking up Jaleel but I just don’t see it .

I've had a soft fade on Javonte since the start of draft season. I'll probably end up with around 4%. I'd like to be around 8% Estime. Maybe around 4% Jaleel, but he's just an undersized back who will probably max out at 10-12 touches per game. There are too many TD upside bets going around Jaleel for me to get fully on board. I like Allgeier, Wright, Ray Davis, Chuba, Bucky, etc. all more than him.

Payton takes the get your guys motto to the real world. He rarely speaks positively, or even at all about Javonte. At least not the way he does about the other backs. Since he became coach, he's brought in Jaleel, Estime, and Watson, and has talked positively about all 3.

He's already talked about Estime in the same role they mostly used Javonte last season. Allegedly, they had a 3rd round grade on Estime and felt they had to take him in the 5th due to the value.

Javonte has been an overhyped prospect since he was drafted, and I say that as a Heel fan. He's never had a backfield to himself. He was basically 50/50 with Michael Carter in college. His box scores last season really weren't very good, especially for .5 PPR. And I know year 2 after the knee injury and what not, but what if he just is who he is, which may simply be even worse now with the knee injury?

Yeah that’s all mostly true, but it’s a very good team to have a running back from and Estime is also not some elite prospect, he’s actually a worse prospect than Javonte was

Javonte could easily fail, I have no idea, but I’m fairly certain one of those 2 is going to be the lead back since Jaleel is small and also not that good

I think my problem is, I’m just not with the community that it’s some great backfield target. I prefer basically every other RB being drafted in Javonte’s ADP range. Gus and Ford are probably the only ones I prefer less.

I’m not arguing that Estime is a better prospect, or even will be a better NFL player than Javonte. But all it takes is Payton preferring Estime more. And the signs have been forming.

The training camp reports will be fun.

Plus you get Estime in the last few rounds so the cost isn’t much .

I for sure right now wish I was closer to 12% on both of them , maybe even 16% estime

I’m over 40% Estime. Hopefully I don’t regret that .

Not sure how much Estime I have, but I know it's not much.

Team Javonte all the way.

He’s polarizing.

Whats with all this Denver talk. I'm betting on them still being a terrible offense and just avoiding everyone apart from Sutton in WR needy teams.

I also think there's far better picks than Javonte at current ADP

I love the QBs no pun intended.

The RBs are a little sketch

WR's fantastic

TE's very solid

That’s funny cause I hate my qbs the most . And pitts also dropped a ton in this draft . I think I got him in the 7th

I made it home to get in a Pug.

QB) AR, Kyler

RB) A Jones, Benson, Ekeler, Lloyd, Wright, R Johnsons

WR) Puca, Harrison, Dell, Pickens, AD Mitchell, M Wilson, M Washington

TE) Pitts, Musgrave, Likely

Don’t love your rb depth behind jones and ekeler but everything else is really good .

Love is looking like he could be a star. I don't like that he is not stacked. I love the upside of Levis and potentially Fields.. Compared to other QB rooms it's not the best but you didn't have to spend a ton of draft capital.
