Welcome to the official WPT Global thread!
WPT Global is the real-money online poker business of the World Poker Tour, and we’re about to celebrate our two-year anniversary, having launched in April 2022. After such a short time, we’re already the third-largest online poker room in the world (ranked by PokerScout.com, based on cash game traffic).
We’re joining TwoPlusTwo to share information with you, engage with the community, and answer any questions you might have.
WPT Global is special for a few reasons:
- Our modern platform has been built from the beginning to leverage AI technology. We use this in two main ways. The first is to protect the games by detecting collusion, bot use, RTA use and other forms of cheating extremely quickly. We have the best Game Integrity tech I’ve experienced in my 19 years in the industry, and a team of around 50 people using it.
- The second way we utilise AI technology is in managing our ecology. We ensure that games are sustainable and beatable by reserving seats in every game for casual players and limiting the number of seats per table that can be occupied by highly skilled professionals. I’ll go into more detail on this point later, in the below FAQ, but the net result is - we have the softest cash games you’ll find online, and typical win-rates for regs are 5-10x higher than elsewhere. (If you don't’ believe me, just try them and see for yourself).
- We have had a large liquidity pool from the very beginning, especially in cash games. This is because we partnered with a couple of successful Asia-facing poker rooms to bootstrap their liquidity. Most poker startups face an enormous challenge in growing their liquidity from scratch - this solution allowed us to launch with cash games running 24/7 and it contributes to our soft player pool. Now, WPT Global is a large poker site in its own right and less dependent on the Asia liquidity, and we’re growing our games in US Dollars all the time.
- There is enormous value on offer - our explicit aim is to pay back more to players via promotions and giveaways than any other site. Check out our current promotions here.
- Global Spins is our unique twist on the Jackpot SNG concept, with a progressive jackpot and the lowest rake in the industry (5%).
- As part of the World Poker Tour family, we’re the best place to qualify for WPT events around the world, like the WPT World Championship at the Wynn later this year.
Some of you might remember me and my colleague WPT Global Peter from our previous roles. Many years ago, I was one of the first site representatives ever to engage with the 2+2 community, as the first PokerStars representative in the ‘PokerStars Software Improvement Thread’. Later, Peter and I ran the ‘Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network...’. You can expect a similar level of transparency and responsiveness here. While I don’t promise to respond to every single thing, no constructive question or criticism is off limits.

What countries is WPT Global available in?
Currently, we have a .com licence and have not entered any regulated markets (although we will start to do so later this year). We’re open to most markets that have yet to regulate, including Canada (except Ontario), Ireland, New Zealand and most of Latin America, Asia and Africa.
We don’t (yet) accept players from the US, UK, Australia, Russia, and most of Europe. If you’re from one of these countries and want to qualify for WPT events then Club WPT might work for you!

How does the ecology management system work? Do you ban winners from playing at WPT Global?
Our ecology management system is specifically designed so that we can run sustainable games without having to penalise winners.
In cash games, our AI technology measures the skill level of every player and predicts their win rate. The model is highly accurate and continually updates so that it cannot be abused or ‘gamed’.
We reserve a number of seats at each cash game table for players that fall into one of our ‘casual player’ categories. In our most popular game (8-Handed NLHE with an ante and a straddle) we reserve six of the eight seats for casual players, which effectively means that highly-skilled pros can only occupy two seats.
Because there is plenty of liquidity, if you find yourself categorised as a pro, you can still always find a game to play at any stake, and you can guarantee yourself a seat in a great game if you start a table, since our ecology management system ensures that only one other pro can sit with you.
The system does not categorise players by their actual win rate, but by how skilled they are. If you have a great run of luck, you will not necessarily be categorised as a pro, and vice versa, you will not necessarily be categorised as a casual player if you run bad.
We find that once players get used to the system, they love it. Both pros and beginners have a better experience because we eliminate some of the common predatory behaviour that occurs elsewhere, and pros can achieve significantly higher win rates. I encourage you to give it a try!
What’s with the games in CNY currency?
Because we partnered with Asia-facing poker rooms to launch, some of our games are in Chinese Yuan (CNY) currency. At the time of writing, the exchange rate to the dollar is about 7.25 CNY to the USD. As we’ve become less dependent on the Asian liquidity we have introduced more USD games. Most cash games and all tournaments including Global Spins are now available in USD, and for those of you that want to play in the CNY games, there’s a handy currency converter in the lobby, and the ability to change the stacks to BB.

I like not being able to wait until BB in cash games. I think it makes the game more interesting and better for casual players as now they can't be as easily identified by pros.

By cost of running games I’m mainly referring to the costs of getting money in and out. Unlike some costs e.g hosting which are the same regardless of stakes being played, the costs of handling large sums of money increase significantly.
I see we cannot register anymore for chinese yen currency tournaments. Is it a matter of time before you remove chinese yen currency cash games also? The long term plan is I assume to have only usd tables and no more use liquidity and players pool from asia?

Our goal is to transition to USD over time, yes. Obviously there's a successful player pool in CNY that we don't want to harm, so we're making this transition slowly and carefully. MTTs, Spins and some cash games are done already, others will take time.
Day 3 of our $7,000,000 guaranteed Spring Festival has kicked off already, with the daily $33 $6K PKO starting 30 minutes ago
We have some tournaments for lower stakes players, including:
$11 Daily Raise NLHE - 06:00 UTC-5, started with a $3,000 guarantee and increases by $250 each day!
$5.50 Mini Bounty Builder - 07:00 UTC-5 and is a daily $5,000 guarantee
$5.50 Mini Double - 15:30 UTC-5 starting with a $1,000 guarantee, which doubles each Sunday. In the last week this will be $4,000 guaranteed per day, and the final Sunday (26th May) it will be $8,000!
$11 $3,000 GTD - 17:00 UTC-5 and the tournament itself is NLHE but speed & table size change daily
IMO focus should be put on stability and reducing the cpu intensity of the client.
I upgraded my PC recently and expected that the client would run much smoother, it didnt make much of a difference.
Sometimes I misclick and change the stacks from money to BBs, something like this seems to create a lot of lag.

We're working on this. The cause is a framework which enables us to quickly develop software across multiple platforms. We're upgrading it in the next couple of months and this will result in performance and stability improvements.
There is another chance to make Day 2 of our $530 WPT500 event with a $400,000 guarantee running at 08:00 UTC-5 today! Satellites & feeders to it and most other events run throughout the day! I'm loving the software, I think you could make the hand histories available and take a look at the attention sound, the sound besides of low only happens at the beginning of the action which makes those who are playing on multiple screens like me miss the action several times .

Do you still hide tables from winning regs? I played on WPT a year ago, and after 2-3 winning sessions, I was only able to see a maximum of one table with regs only in my lobby (while my friend with a fresh account could see 10+ tables). Your reasoning was that skilled players are not allowed to play with weaker ones.
So basically you can’t play on WPT if you are cathegorised as a skilled player.
I was playing 2 sessions. After that I observed lobby for 3 weeks and saw 0 tables. And even when I tried to start new table there wasn’t any action so I just withdrew and left.
You are only allowed to play decent games if you are losing or being breakeven/barely winning player. I guess you just put so called ‘extremely skilled players’ in separate pool to play a

Day 5 kicks off in about 15 minutes time!
Day 6 has already kicked off and the next Spring Festival Mini Championship Day 1 flight starts in about 20 minutes. It is a $22 buy-in with a $150,000 guarantee. It is a PKO format, with bounties starting right away!
We have another chance to satellite into our $2,100 High Roller PKO ($250,000 GTD), which runs on Saturday 25th May @11:30 UTC-5. Today's satellite is a $220 buy-in with 4 seats guaranteed at 08:19 UTC-5. You can also get into this from $22, with feeders starting every few hours
To be clear, what you are quoting in your post is not true. I'm not sure what is happening to the player in question, perhaps a technical issue or misunderstanding. I am happy to help as previously offered.

last couple of weeks I can see the games are way worse than used to be... dont know if it was because you open new markets filled with regs or big stables arrived or bots but lots of competent new accounts...
another weird thing is that the best tables the software show me software dont allow me to sit if another reg beat me for the first seat... example yesterday I had 2 tables without fish with 7 players and I was allowed to play, but suddenly another one with 3 fishes and one reg popped up I was about to sit and another reg arrives and I wasnt allowed to sit... so IDK but the algorythm dont seems to work in the way you described

We do have an issue at the moment where the lobby can sometimes be out of sync with the table making it difficult to get a seat (because the seat is taken by the time the table opens). We’re working on this and it should be resolved soon.

Over $800,000 guaranteed today including $400K in the $530 WPT500 Day 2. You still have 2 more flights to make Day 2, and there are multiple satellites running during the day to get into a $530 flight for a lot less!
2x $110 $100,000 guaranteed PKOs (one has just started)
Our Sunday Builder is a $220 with a $40,000 guarantee today and we have a longer structure $530 $75,000 SuperStack beginning at 13:30 UTC-5. This will play down to the money today (top 16) and Day 2 will start tomorrow (Monday) at 13:30 UTC-5, with $18,000 guaranteed for 1st!

Coming, no eta. However there are two 3rd party sites which are currently permitted (by us) to be used while playing on WPT Global to make this easier: intuitivetables & jurojin

No, VPNs are prohibited. Rampage and Brad don't use them to play on WPT Global.

Our $1,060 WPT Prime event with $750,000 guaranteed kicked off yesterday and there is another day 1 flight today. Day 2 runs this coming Sunday, where the winner will enjoy a decent payout along with a $10,400 WPT World Championship seat for the event in Las Vegas in December (this $10,400 is deducted from the prize pool). Satellites for today's WPT Prime flight are running now!
