Don Jr runs, Trump as VP. Don Jr wins and steps down. Trump is prez. Is this contrary to anything?

FWIW I think there is missing a big component in there based on a certain recent SC decision about presidential immunity that I doubt is transferable to the VP directly.
God knows how trump would need that kind of protection in a non official ruling position..

Anyway that was deflecting the question for baham that would he find anything wrong if trump wouldn’t step down in 2028.

I mean he'll never actually be VP. He's president Jan 20, 2025 -

In 2028, since he's no longer electable, Don Jr runs with Daddy as VP. After Don Jr wins in November 2028, he steps down. This means Trump continues as Pres for another 4 years, then rinse repeat.

I already suggested Biden could make Obama his VP, but nearly everyone here said it would be challenged in court, etc. Although after another 4 years of Trump, the federal Judiciary will be even more of a sham than it is more.

Did you read what I wrote ?
His presidential immunity is for being an active president , in actual office doing official acts .
Not acting president as a VP.

Your scenario would work probably one time then people wouldn’t vote for someone knowing in advance he would of step down .

Tho chillrob has a good point , who knows where the judicial system will be after another 4 years of trump ….

Ya it seems to be a debatable topic. My read of the constitution is you can only be elected as president for two terms. There is nothing about not being president beyond two terms. Curious what the rebuttal is. I don't think the people would like it, so I'm guessing have a former two term pres as VP probably wouldn't get the vote anyways.

I don't even know what you are talking about to be honest.
Why are you talking about immunity?
And at what point of time in my post is he VP anyways?

Trump based on past and present , did stupid stuff needing immunity .
I’ll bet he will be even more crazier now knowing he got full immunity while being acting president and having the courts on his side now .

I’m kind of surprise u don’t see this .

His vp post 2028 right ?
While being vp he couldn’t be as free leading the country .
Now yes if a president would step down so he becomes again officially president it’s another matter , not sure it’s legal (again he probably will win now ) but would it be acceptable by many ?
Who knows .

One thing for sure , we are far from a democracy at that point …..

No. Please read.

face it, nobody cares about poor uneducated hillbillies. never have never will. they are one of those groups, like poor minorities, whose primary political purpose is to serve as ego-boosters for elitists and/or people with savior complexes.

It wouldn't even have to get the vote. If the elected VP steps down the president can pick a new VP. Both houses of Congress just have to vote to the appointment, simple majorities.

This already happened in the early 70s when VP Agnew stepped down, Ford was appointed as new VP, then Nixon stepped down. President Ford was never elected to any nationwide office.

Huh? For the 2029-2033 term there is a vote.

Anyone could stand for that election as VP, then step down to be replaced.
See my expanded post above.

For example, if Biden does win reelection with Harris. Harris steps down, Obama is appointed VP. Biden steps down (or dies), Obama becomes president.

Gotcha. That works, yes.

This whole vp conversation seems silly. I doubt we have anything resembling an election again if he wins.

Let's talk in a few years. If I'm wrong I'll be more than happy to eat humble pie. If you're wrong you won't care.

Cuba and Iran still hold elections. What exactly do you think would happen here? Rule by military junta?

One of the anti-Trump talking points is democracy will die and we won't have elections anymore.

That's the narrative they are trying to push. Just let them be.

He might start caring if King Don goes full fascist and decides to make Canada a state and sends the troops in.
