Ukraine-Russia War Take 2

Ukraine-Russia War Take 2

Here is what the preliminary take on the Ukraine thread disappearing is:

The site was hit with a massive spam attack where hundreds of spam threads were created. In the case where, for example, I see a single spam thread and delete it, that is called a soft delete, and mods can still see them but forum members cannot. Those deletion can be undone.

When a massive attack hits with hundreds of threads, an admin uses a different procedure where the hundreds of spam threads are merged and then hard deleted, where the threads are gone, and no note is left behind. As I have mentioned with my own experience of just soft deleting a large number of posts, sometimes a post or thread gets checked or merged accidentally and is deleted by mistake. Dealing with hundreds of spam threads takes a sledgehammer, not a scalpel.

It appears that our Ukraine thread may have gotten caught up in that recent net of spam threads. If so, it is likely gone for good. I cant say this for sure, and am awaiting comments from admins on this issue. Yes, this sucks. And hopefully there was some other software glitch that caused the disappearance, and we may recover it in the future.

But in the meantime, I have created this new Ukraine-Russia War thread to enable the conversation to continue. Obviously continuity with earlier discussions will be lost. There is no way around that. So as best as possible, let's pick up the conversation with recent events and go from there.

If you have any questions about this, please post them in the mod thread, not here. Let's keep this thread going with posts about the war, not the disappearance of the old thread.

Thanks.

Do you care if Russia invades Ukraine again and kills a bunch of people?

why would you ask such a dumb question? I think when I say, I support a ceasefire and a negotiated settlement that should answer your question on if I want further war.

I ask that question because you've been supporting a peace deal that every expert, Ukraine, and anyone with any common sense says will result in Russia invading again and killing a bunch of Ukrainians. You then called all those people "warmongers", "Orwellian", and "pro war" for not supporting the peace deal they believe will result in another war.

As I've said many times: everyone wants a negotiated settlement that results in no future wars except for the most extreme Putin fanboys (like the guy you said "spitting facts" after he called for genocide on Ukraine and said Putin should have invaded earlier).

ya I really dont care what the experts that you read say.

and no, the USA does not want a peace deal lol.

You also don't care what Ukrainians say, but you apparently care a lot about what Putin says.

USA wants a peace deal.

I dont care what Zelenskyy and the comprador regime say. I do care what the people being used as fodder say.

They say it's a peace deal designed to invade them again.

Debate afoot in Russia on whether or not to rendition the Moscow attack suspects off to Belarus to give 'em a good old fashioned dose of execution.

I think they already tortured one to death. I haven't really followed it that closely.

I'm not sure of that's verified actually, as I remember you mentioning this before, so googled it but couldn't find anything on one of them actually dying under torture, though plenty of articles re their torture.

I'm afraid Vladimir Putin does want further war, so you won't get your wish. As Wellington said about Bonaparte, 'A conqueror always has to go forward, like a cannonball. If ever he rebounds, it will end his career.' He could just as well have been talking about Adolf Hitler. Or, of course, Vladimir Putin.

Verey interesting piece on the negotiations

How can a settlement prevent future war is the question. What would the settlement do to disarm putin for example?

Because we who want to keep fighting have the medium-long term plan of weakening russia so much it isn't a threat to anyone anymore , do you realize that yes?

You don't give any **** about the future, you just want Putin to gain power, which he would if he is allowed to keep Donbass and can stop wasting money on the war.

He can rebuild economically, then build up slowly for the next invasion of ukraine, or moldova, or georgia or whatever.

There is overwhelming ukrainian support to keep fighting, more than there is in gaza in favor of hamas

USA and others don't want any peace deal where russia keeps Donbass. Because that would be disastrous for the future.

If putin just ****ing leaves we can have peace do you realize that? so why don't you just ask for putin to ****ing leave , why is that hard?

considering they are literally kidnapping people off the streets and fighting age men are in hiding, I am skeptical

Another 95 BILLION DOLLARS was just passed in the House to further "aid" The United States of Ukraine and the DS is using their master-puppet Mitch McConnell who's warning that Washington would send U.S. soldiers to war against Russia if Congress doesn't keep sending billions to Ukraine:

"Failure to help Ukraine stand against Russian aggression now means inviting escalation against our closest treaty allies and trading partners. It means greater risk that American forces would become involved in conflict."

This is how they drain a super power from the inside out.

Most of the money stays inside the USA and it's really not that big an amount anyways.

Yeah it's all good bro. Just another drop in the bucket

Nice, sandwiched between extremes. It's closer to a drop in a bucket than it is to draining USA from the inside out.

30 billion leaves USA, that's 3% of the defense budget.

It's also money, and blood, saved on the US having to do anything itself. Because Putin does have to be fought (as even Trump, having spoken to Poland's Donald Tusk, belatedly seems to recognise).

Our defense budget is 900 billion?

Damn we just hooked up Ukraine. Good for them

Funny that the easiest way for no dead Ukrainians would be a Russian withdrawal. They are going to fight and die with or without our money.

900 billion seems high. I think 30 billion leaving USA is high too, they're very rough estimates. I can look it up later.

2024 Defense budget is 825 billion

The original senate bill was 24 billion which was leaving USA, most of which was humanitarian aid. I'm guessing this one is similar.
