Ukraine-Russia War Take 2
Here is what the preliminary take on the Ukraine thread disappearing is:
The site was hit with a massive spam attack where hundreds of spam threads were created. In the case where, for example, I see a single spam thread and delete it, that is called a soft delete, and mods can still see them but forum members cannot. Those deletion can be undone.
When a massive attack hits with hundreds of threads, an admin uses a different procedure where the hundreds of spam threads are merged and then hard deleted, where the threads are gone, and no note is left behind. As I have mentioned with my own experience of just soft deleting a large number of posts, sometimes a post or thread gets checked or merged accidentally and is deleted by mistake. Dealing with hundreds of spam threads takes a sledgehammer, not a scalpel.
It appears that our Ukraine thread may have gotten caught up in that recent net of spam threads. If so, it is likely gone for good. I cant say this for sure, and am awaiting comments from admins on this issue. Yes, this sucks. And hopefully there was some other software glitch that caused the disappearance, and we may recover it in the future.
But in the meantime, I have created this new Ukraine-Russia War thread to enable the conversation to continue. Obviously continuity with earlier discussions will be lost. There is no way around that. So as best as possible, let's pick up the conversation with recent events and go from there.
If you have any questions about this, please post them in the mod thread, not here. Let's keep this thread going with posts about the war, not the disappearance of the old thread.

Current situation isn't a ceasefire, as long as he is bogged down on an ukrainian front and has to waste money and blood there he hasn't won.
Even if he takes another city, he still hasn't won. If he gets a ceasefire now then he hasn't won either. Both of those outcomes (especially the first) would be losing less than if Ukraine managed to retake territory, but it's far more important to get Ukraine out of the war and into a situation where they can have long term peace so they can rebuild than it is to continue increasing losses for Putin.
And mass executed people, and raped, and tortured, and set up prison camps, and deported people, and starved people.

We've been over this: just about everyone wants a cease fire. Only Putin bootlickers want a cease fire that is overwhelmingly likely to result in another invasion and all of the things that you don't consider genocide.
The reason you don't care if it results in another invasion or not-genocide is because by your own standards you don't think not-genocide or imperialist conquests are insane or morally bankrupt.

There aren't any Palestinians in Ukraine. And it doesn't matter what you want. It only matters what Putin wants -- which is the total destruction of Ukraine, its culture, its people and its language -- and what the West wants, which is the defeat of Putin, because if he's not defeated in Ukraine he will simply move on to Poland and the Baltic states and further on from there, because that's what mad conquistador dictators do. Imagining that Putin will just settle for the Donbass is like imagining that Hitler would just settle for the Sudetenland.
There are Ukrainian in Gaza tho.

Putin would have preferred a Belarus 2.0 in Ukraine rather than the above.
But when faced with a possibility of a European Ukraine he prefers genocide yes.
He wouldn't move toward NATO because he doesn't want us to defeat him, but he would move to Moldova and Georgia
reminder that Belarus initially sought to align with the West. in response they tried a color revolution and Lukashenko had to give in to Putins demands, in particular for a base, to stay in power.
