Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
Soleimiani is a interesting case in US playing both sides at times though. He was a US ally in the US actions against the Taliban after 9/11. It wasn't long after the invasion of Iraq though that he was an enemy of the US.

Ya because Iran funds the people that kill Americans in Iraq. I say a prayer every time we off those ****s

really weird how many people are so happy with a terrorist attack that killed a ton of people.

Not weird to celebrate the deaths of your enemies

Not my enemies.

Not my enemies.

You said it’s weird

I said it’s not weird to celebrate the deaths of your enemies

I didn’t mean that Iran is your enemy.

I guess its weird that those people are considered enemies. like, if a bunch of Americans were celebrating some slave owner then I would not want them murdered. if a bunch of Israelis were celebrating some maniacal Zionist butcher then I would not want them murderered. hell if a bunch of neo-Nazis were celebrating Hitler then again, I would not want them murdered.

but Im starting to realize that it is crazy to not strongly desire wanton murder of others.

by Victor P

hell if a bunch of neo-Nazis were celebrating Hitler then again, I would not want them murdered.

But we know that you would repeatedly draw attention to this, and even draw attention to fabricated evidence of this, and even apply it to people who don't celebrate Hitler as the murderers who are murdering these people use it as justification for their murder.

Even if few people understand the attacks on Israel prior to Oct 7, now just about everyone has seen the horrors of Oct 7. We've seen the horrors Israel has inflicted on Palestinians since then. These type of actions lead to dehumanization on both sides. It is the downward spiral of violence the conflict has led to, and understanding it (on both sides) is a major step toward actually resolving the conflict.

What PW said is 100% correct.

Friday Briefing: Islamic State Claims the Iran Bombing

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/04/brief...

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for a bombing attack that killed at least 84 people in Kerman, Iran, on Wednesday, according to a post on the extremist group’s official Telegram account.

The group called the attack a “dual martyrdom operation,” and described how two militants had detonated explosive belts strapped to their bodies during a commemoration ceremony at the tomb of Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani. The general, a widely revered and feared Iranian military leader, was assassinated four years ago in a U.S. drone attack.

The Islamic State was probably seizing an opportunity to hit an enemy, U.S. officials said. The Sunni Muslim group has claimed responsibility for several previous attacks on Iran, which has a Shiite Islamic government and runs an alliance of Shiite groups across the Middle East.

The bombing in Iran, and the killing of Saleh al-Arouri, a senior Hamas leader, in Beirut, Lebanon, on Tuesday, has heightened fears of a regional war that could draw in the U.S. Just hours after the bombs went off in Iran, the U.S. and 12 of its allies issued a written warning to the Houthis of Yemen, who have been mounting near-daily attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

The U.S. has held back from retaliating against Houthi bases in Yemen, in large part because it does not want to undermine a fragile truce in the country’s civil war. But on Wednesday it accused Iran, which has supplied weapons and intelligence to the Houthis, of involvement in the Red Sea attacks.

I wish I could be as naive about anything as you are about everything. both sides it up while Israel murders like 300 people a day and all of their leaders espouse ethnic cleansing or genocide. not really surprising considering how you feel about Azov.

Why would anyone think ISIS is aiming at Israel?

from reading this thread, I thought all Muslims wanted to do the holocaust on the Jews

by microbet P

Why would anyone think ISIS is aiming at Israel?

He's being his typical racist self and saying Israel and isis are the same thing

Like its pure hate speech in the form of political cartoons and they you quote it so he can talk about it

Houthi flag does say "A curse upon the Jews", but I think the ISIS flag says "There is only one god, Allah, and the prophet Mohammed is his messenger."

Does he truly believe that no one from Palestine kills or attempts to kill Israelis?

He thinks they aim at military but israel aims at babies

The guy is responsible for hundreds of deaths of Americans. It is a good kill

I do think the attribute I have is not a healthy one. But I don’t find it unreasonable

I cant speak for East Asian Muslims, but the majority of Muslims West of Bangladesh I would say this is true.

This is Lebanon, and yes they are doing the Nazi salute because they want to holocaust the Jews.

by Bluegrassplayer P

Does he truly believe that no one from Palestine kills or attempts to kill Israelis?

have you checked the stats? even before Oct 7, like do you have any idea how many more Palestinians were killed compared to Israelis?

have you ever read about the Warsaw Ghetto uprising?

by microbet P

Houthi flag does say "A curse upon the Jews", but I think the ISIS flag says "There is only one god, Allah, and the prophet Mohammed is his messenger."

Given M's well documented position and actions towards Jews, the two messages are pretty synonymous. Like part of the problem I see with any sort of reconciliation is the fact there really is no way to be an observant Muslim and not consider yourself at war with Israel. Things are layed out pretty plain in the holy texts. There isn't a lot of wiggle room.

ya but that guy wasnt who was killed. people who mourn and respect him for whatever reason were killed. I certainly hope that when GWB or Biden or Obama or whoever are being memorialized that his mourners are not bombed.

nope. you are being your typical inability to read self. its saying that Israel supports ISIS. which, ofc they do. so does USA.

You Christians have killed so many more of us and oppressed us so much worse. You've commemorated it in towns like La Mort aux Juifs, France. And yet, I don't assume every single Christian wants to murder me.
