Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
looks like a bigwig commander of the hezbollah elite crew got got 👍

at a higher or lower rate than the 20-something commanders of the IDF who are routinely getting whacked?

IDF is AT LEAST as morally bankrupt as Hezbollah or Hamas, and that's being diplomatic. I'm sure we'll be getting a post from you celebrating the death of some IDF sicko any second now.

If Israel takes Gaza, it will clearly become rich and prosperopus. Is there a chance Israel will take it? If they do, need to invest, prob can buy the real estate for nothing and make a lot after doing it all up.

this might be, lowkey, the most disgusting post made in this entire thread

Holy ****in' ****. I had to scroll back quite a bit to make sure this guy wasn't making an argument for which I needed context.

Calm down, you misunderstood.

I am merely talking about buying real estate and renovating it. That's all.

FWIW, I want peace for everyone and no war.

Why isn't Egypt allowing food and water in? Did the rulers of Gaza murder lots of their people too?

Between missiles, anti-tank missiles, drones, and mortars, there's been way over 1500 munitions fired at Israel from Lebanon since the war started. It was over 1000 back in November.

There's a pretty simple formula to not get shot at by Israel. The Egyptians figured it out in the 70's. It's been peace there since.

Ty for adding to my assertation

The most humane army in the world did live up to their moniker by refraining from slaughtering the child. Yet.

Is amazing

Hezbollah has been bombing Israel crazy, Israel retaliates, and pointless shows up to blame Israel

It is so predictable

What he said is most likely true. Gaza could be Singapore (another former British colony that had issues with its neighbors that it got over) if the Palestinians didn't have such a destructive, antisocial worldview. And decided to live in the present instead of martyring their own children to undo the results of a war they lost 80 years ago. Who would have guessed that bringing things back to the 7th century wouldn't work so well.

Israel says when it goes to clear out buildings it knows to go to the children's room's first, because that is where the weapons and secret tunnel entrances are. That is a pretty good snapshot of what is wrong.

Israel

Of course Singapore, like everywhere else has a complicated history and it's a bit of a mirror of Israel and Palestine with Chinese playing the role of Jews and Malay playing the role of Arabs. Malay are only 13% of the population and Singapore was able to separate more cleanly from Malaysia because it's an island to itself. And, as British troops left Singapore in 1971, Israeli advisors helped establish the Singapore Armed Forces.

So Singapore-Malaysia is what could have been if the Arab countries had been more pragmatic and diplomatic, and less belligerent.

There are a lot of differences. The Chinese came to Singapore a bit earlier and were more concentrated. The British stayed a bit longer. Malaysia isn't the biggest country in the world, but it's a lot more independent from neighboring countries than the Palestinians were in 1948. It's an island and is more separable. The Jewish/Arab division in Israel/Palestine has always been at least two pretty separate areas for each.

Israel

none of this is true and it is a deeply ignorant viewpoint. thinking the Israeli's would ever allow the Palestinians to thrive is the height of idiocy and inability to face facts.

incidentally, before the Zionists withdrew the Gaza settlements in 2005, there were up to 9k settlers and over 2 million Gazans.

look at this map to understand how much of Gaza a tiny number of people controlled over a total population of millions.

looks like about 30% of the land and I have heard, but have not researched myself that it was the best land there.

9k people controlled 30% of land as compared to 2 million people.

tell me more about how Israel would ever allow the Palestinians to be free.

While is critical of israel

The Palestinians have been screwed by lots of groups, including themselves... By themselves I don't mean Hamas but the people themselves

They seem obsessed with:

1) revenge (understandable but not constructive)
2) wanting Israel to no longer exist (won't happen) ... Holds the back from improving their lives
3) outdated backwards thinking based on religion... I ionestly think jews care about religion that much but see it as holding their small diaspora together. And the social aspect helps a lot with economic progess

Well they're definitely not the Taliban but they pay people to stay home and read their fairy tale book and continue to take land because their fairy tale book says sky daddy gave it to them at the beginning of time.
Hope the Palestinians realize their "friends" have left them out to dry and they have no backup.

Nothing like explaining how terrible Isreal is now by showing how much territory they were holding 20 years ago, before they gave it back.

Seems like they were trying to let the residents of Gaza take control of their own destiny then, and almost certainly would have let them try to be successful if they hadn't voted a terrorist organization into power and then sent missiles from there into Israel on and off for the next 20 years.

The withdrawal was partial. Israel continued to control the perimeter and choked imports, creating poverty. They had draconian rules, like the Gazans could not fish further than three miles out. It was a prison, not a concession.

I still imagine they wouldn't have been as strict about these things if the leaders weren't terrorists who sent missiles over the border every time they could. I guess we'll never know for sure though.

Also, a "prison" only works if all doors are closed. Egypt could have opened their border to accept refugees at any time, right? Or was Israel actually preventing Palestinians from going to Egypt? If the US did successfully build a wall across the entire border with Mexico, would you then say Mexico was a prison?

nothing like arrogant snark from a place of ignorance.

Seems like you are clueless on the fact that after the pullout Israel put in place a blockade that literally counts the calories that go into Gaza to keep them just above starvation. https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSBRE8...

That only a miniscule amount of people are allowed to leave, even for medical treatment or schooling or family. Israel does not allow many types of medical treatment in Gaza and then blocks many people from getting it outside.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article...

When people are allowed to leave they are forced to wait for many hours at the crossing where they are mistreated and humiliated and often denied. Many are blackmailed into becoming spies at this facility just so they can leave to get treatment for themselves or their family.
https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSL313...

Not allowed to fish more than certain miles off the coast.
https://www.btselem.org/gaza_strip/20200...

There are drones overhead constantly, like during the brief ceasefire was the first time in many people's lives where there was not the sound of drones.
https://corporatewatch.org/gaza-life-ben...

And that Israel periodically "mows the lawn" (there own term btw) which means just killing a bunch of people.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mowing_the...

All of these things are easy to verify. You can google it yourself or just click some of these links.

Ganstaman said I am not allowed to call you ignorant anymore. Since I prefer to be truthful, and since you will never lift a finger to educate yourself, I have provided the useful information so that you will no longer be ignorant. You are welcome.

If the US walls off a country and prevents people from leaving? Yeah, that’s a prison, bro. Maybe that’s why fascists are so enamored with the border wall?

“If East Germany builds a huge wall and shoots anyone who tries to cross, is that a prison?” Naw dog, that’s how totally normal non-totalitarian states behave.
