ex-President Trump

ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:

a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?

b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

So yesterday I saw some recent video footage of Trump doing Trump things. This was honestly the first snippet of video I'd seen of him since somewhere in the back half of his term in office. He had absolutely none of the charismatic charm that landed him in office in the first place, and even the orange tint looked expired.

The Trump true believers are simply not numerous enough to carry this guy to victory, and when the election coverage starts in earnest, you're going to have God knows how many people like me see him again on TV and nope right out. Everybody has bad media days, but he was totally lost in the sauce.

I've had similar thoughts when watching Biden coverage, which does beg the question of what happens when everybody at the top of the tickets sucks, but I stand by my claims that Trump will get cut from the field long before we start talking about November outcomes. The GOP won't allow him a repeat.

Continuing to talk about this guy is a mistake, and can only help him by steeling the resolve of his core followers. You already know they act like children, so why encourage them by constantly needling them about **** Trump says or does? Just ignore him and he'll disappear.

Do you all slow down to a crawl to gawk at every accident on the freeway, too? You're ****ing up traffic for everyone else. Stop it. Move on.

This is a pretty reasonable take, but I just don't know. He seems to continue to crush the repub polls.

As far as ignoring him, sheesh. He's the best thing to happen to media outlets ever. The clickbait king.

But, you make a lot of sense.

I actually agree with you that Trump seems to have lost a lot of his verve. But how exactly do you envision that Trump will get "cut from the field"? Nothing in the polling seems to suggest he is on the verge of losing the nomination.

Which part of you believes that a president should have immunity after he leaves office for crimes he committed while in office? Why does does part of you think that this sort of immunity would be a good idea.

The implications of this argument are stunning. You are correct that the appellate panel asked Trump's lawyer if Trump would have immunity if, during his term in office, he ordered the killing of a political rival. And the lawyer sai

No Part of me

And that second argument is why I agree with you that no President should have direct Immunity. We can not count on the morality of any President

I am starting to agree with Inso that he may not be the candidate . If that is the case Biden is heading for a definitive loss

I admit that this is a huge hurdle, but the ragebait only works if you're complicit in becoming enraged.

Short answer? People like me catching on to what's happening and explaining to the Trumpers in our lives why pwning the libs isn't worth it sometimes. You can see in my post history from the 2016 election that I was initially on board for the entertainment. That honeymoon period was over very, very quickly come 2017. For the last several years, I've politely pivoted when people I know want to start talking about Trump in politics. My distaste for him wasn't to the level where I really cared if someone else liked him, so why even get into the argument? If votes start getting cast in the early states and Trump shows well, I'm going to start having those discussions and not pull any punches. You can't change my family's mind, but I bet I can.

by Rococo P

LOL. I agree. This is a remarkable aspect of most Trump paraphernalia.

But I feel the same way when I see the interior of one of Trump's residences. If I didn't know better, I would wonder if his interior decorators were trolling him.

Gold faucets are coming back 😀

Kudos on your personal awakening. And you are certainly correct that you have a better chance of changing your family's mind than I do.

I wish that I (or the polls) shared your confidence in GOP primary voters, but I guess we will see.

i have no idea how you think the republicans are going to dump him before the general. they need to be cheering on Jack Smith and co. because they themselves stand no chance. he's dominating the republican primary polls like never seen before. most of the trump voters don't even list a second choice candidate from the polls i've seen. he's your guy. you guys created him, you guys own him.

the down ballot republicans pretty much everywhere in the country NEED him on the ballot or they will lose their seats to low turnout. so it's not like they will speak up.

I disagree .
It isn’t about the numbers .
Remember 3 millions less votes in 2016 and still won ?
It’s about college electoral votes .
U don’t need as much numbers .

Fwiw I believe this election might be in the hands of the women related to the abortion rights being attacked in those tied states .

I don't know how much it helps Biden for Trump to be the Republican nominee, but I really don't give a ****. I'll take my chances. It is civic malpractice for anyone to be cheering for Trump to be the GOP nominee.

The country would be best off if they both did an old person thing and died ASAP.

Yep. Imagine being one of the stiffs in attendance and deriving any sort of gratification from hearing this invalid speak. If they succumbed to boredom, there is still hope for the republic.

my finest work

Very nize

And props to Inso. I hope many others hadn't heard a thing from Trump in 3 years. That's surely better than our plight - having heard from Trump many times lol

Dems brought the goods yesterday!

“Did we suspend the rule where we cannot impugn the former President?”
“We, uh, suspended it for the current President but not the former President.”

So they can bad mouth Biden but not Trump?

I was stunned to hear him once again tell his followers that "you are going to have to fight like hell!"

Phrases like 'fight like hell' are fine. That is not one of the many problems with trump.

The left needs to fight like hell. I really wish we would and I'm totally opposed to violence

Trump has some of his old charm in this lol he really does

But that would be lying.

Let me guess - you're one of the special people who believes Trump has an IQ of 140, amirite?

Cmon d2, that's Trump's BMI.

Well, I don't know if it's 140 but it's obviously a lot higher than yours.
