i'm in. let's ban everyone over 80 from participating in politics. no running/holding office, no voting, no donating to superPACS.

He wasn't serious, but yeah, very few people believe in principles like freedom (of speech or to vote or whatever) for people they despise. It's like this:

I think most repubs believe in freedom of speech and vote for everyone. Which is why ~99% of the time you hear that a group is trying to prevent someone from speaking it is dems trying to block someone they disagree with.

you argued that the average 80 year old wasn't competent.. so i think it was you that was arguing for the restriction. i was simply agreeing that if we are going to start restricting we should start with that idea.

As far as the issue hand goes, it really is 99% of the time Republicans trying to stop people from voting.
The notion that you have to be convicted to be ineligible under the 14th amendment was completely made up once the law was applied to Trump as multiple people have been removed from ballots without a conviction as it was designed to do after the Civil War. It's just another super convenient fact that nobody realized for a hundred years that the far right "discovered" post Trump after conservatives lost their mind like "actually vice presidents decide elections and can commit fraud if they want to".
Due process is just something you whine about if things don’t go your way. It doesn’t really have a meaning. Trump was indicted by grad juries exactly per tge law, but we can just pretend like Biden unilaterally made the decision.

Biden has been trying to reduce oil and gas production and raise energy costs in America since his first day on the job. I don't think it is fair to say he did this solely to hurt texas because they tried to enforce a law.
Yes, biden said trump is the sitting the president, but you have to remember that a lot of people at biden's age and cognitive ability are sitting in nursing homes across the country and don't recognize their own children. Asking them who the current president is isn't a fair question - even if they are the current president.
Now that biden has claimed that trump is the current president it will be interesting to see if people will start calling biden an election denier.
