When I was leaving China it was becoming a problem that if a car driver hit someone they would often make sure to killed the victim as they would have to pay substantially less or even be able to just drive off.

I hope that changed.

yeah it's horrific, but we have similar laws ourselves

if you kill someone robbing your house in home defense they will deem it justified, if you injure and maim them then you'e liable for their medical bills

this is 100% why rubber bullets and rock salt never took off for home defense measures and why organizations such as the nra will advocate aiming for the chest rather than the legs because once you fire, you're much better off with them dead - which is also perhaps why so many people killed in home invasions are dealt kill shots after they've been immobilized

no charges were filed against this man, had he simply shot her in the legs so the police could apprehend her then he could have been stuck paying her medical bills

After reflecting on yesterdays event I think I may have been a bit harsh in my opinion of bystanders. I'm a retired Army Airborne Ranger. I was trained or trained others on what to do when someone is wounded and on a few occasions unfortunately saw badly wounded people up close. But even though it's been decades my instincts kicked in and I went to the scene.

But thinking again, most of the bystanders prob have never seen such a gory scene and had no idea how to help. So I may have had unrealistic expectations as to what the average bystander should do.

And I am not at all suggesting this had anything to do with Thai culture. I've seen the same thing at accidents with Americans in the US.

Few can pitch in to help render aid there. Everyone can call for help rather than videoing gore on their cell phone.

Trained for this or not, it seems to me that you acted very heroically.

Even despite not being trained, it seems like those filming instead of calling emergency services acted pretty awfully. I guess that this probably discredits a lot of "training" that most of us received that we don't consider training: mainly calling emergency services in such a scenario.

This really makes me reconsider the fact that I typically don't even by a sim card when I go to Thailand. Also it's pretty irresponsible of me to not know the number for emergency services in the country I'm living in or the countries I do visa runs too.

I, for one, appreciate the moderators’ attempts to re-socialize some of the hooligans

Don't refer to yourself in the third person, browser doesn't like that.

Ah yes, the proverbial “I know you are but what am I.” I applaud your razor sharp wit, sir. Zing!

Wait. Who's the third person? I only see two. Im pretty sure referring to people who arent here violates today's version of the rules. But since today now in Thailand is still yesterday in the US I guess I cant enforce it until tomorrow which will be today US time.

Damn. Another ban thwarted on a technicality. Makes me feel powerless.

Lol. Funny ****er. I give you that.

Please. The only thing you can give me is a superiority complex. 😃

Sexist obvi. I’m funny too, I made a very solid joke about parrots earlier, if I recall.

Don't let it ruffle your feathers.

Meh, really no sinister motivation. His joke was just better than yours.

That's obviously what a MAN would say! Ban for misogyny, LDO.

Ban him

No. D2 impressed me with his use of the word "tumescence". (I had to look that **** up.) Ergo a ban is not warranted and worthy only of a resounding "NAY" in caps, and possibly an exclamation mark or two. My logic is flawless in this regard so don't bother arguing. If you do I'll pm browser asking that you be banned for...stuff.

Or, turgidity. Not sure that's a real word actually, I just made it up.

My sister in Christ, if you want recognition for your sense of humour, you should, you know, make better jokes.

The number of euphemisms I manage to find for erections is matched only by the number of erections I find when I wake up.

So, at last count, 2.

Nobody cares about your dick

Not true, I do. Well, moreso about its products.

Nodody needs a drill, what they need is a hole in the wall.

You’d have to be able to discern when someone’s joking to be able to rate their humor. You’ve responded seriously to last several jokes, so… I’m worried for you.

Browser seems to recognize them though, maybe that’s why he’s a mod.

2 for browser... 200 against.

3, if we count browser.
