I never said that! lol stop making things up.
yea me too.
hows it going on the lake? whats happening?
sorry did not want to make you afraid or something btw.
I know things are ok with safety precautions.
vanilla is making more a day than this guy his whole life probably.
just put him on mute. cant be helped.
The discussion wasn't about how good we thought the rappers were, it was about influence. Laugh your ass off all you like, I'm pretty sure the first rappers to have an album top the Billboard charts, with their 3 Grammys and 23 million record sales (remaining top 10 in the genre), had a little influence on rap and helped grow the audience. Whether we think they are good or not doesn't change that, and is a matter if opinion. That said, I'm confident the number of people who would put Vanilla Ice ahead of the Beastie Boys in terms of quality is...on the smaller side.
Did Ice help popularize the genre even more? Of course. But his brief rapping career ~20 years ago doesn't make his opinion of Trump super relevant today.
Of course. No Sleep Til Brooklyn has been playing in my head all day.
Why ask a question if you're going to make silly and incorrect assumptions about the answer? Yes.
Just as much (little) as I was when I first heard it. I either change the station, or listen to it while laughing. But I will agree that the David Bowie & Queen song he ripped off makes it quite catchy.
This.
And this. I was 22 when the song came out, and I didn't know anyone at the time that saw him as anything but a joke.
Prince. Love his music or hate it, few musicians more talented. Rap? I'll go with Public Enemy.
I'll just say in defense of what I've posted so far, this has all been in response to washoe's bizarre assertions of Vanilla Ice's love of Trump being somehow important.
That said, I will confirm that I have trash taste in hip hop. While I like select songs from a number of rappers, my knowledge of the genre is extremely shallow and it's mostly not my thing.
Prince? biggest fan ever. he performed at my school once.
yea baby!
legend!
De La Soul over here ♥
I remember as a kid ordering through my TV guide the "buy 12 Cds or cassettes for the price of a penny with nothing more to buy ever"! that ended costing me like $27 and the only cd that I that I still have today is 12 inches of Snow which did the song informer - one hit wonder? I have no idea why I'm posting any of this.
Columbia House FTW!!
would you like prince or public enemy less if they all voted trump, bobo 😆
can confirm that hip hop is more popular amongst 18-24 year olds than it used to be, not less.
weakest IP ban ever.
Boo. There are still a lot of people in their 20s going out to hear live rock music though.
also, extremely cowardly
chillrob, first off this is correct.
second, I recently completed an “music depicted graphically “ project in one of my graphic design classes. The average age is maybe 20. Anyone could select any kind of music they wanted. By far the most popular choice was hip hop and or rap. And this is an overpriced graphic design program with mostly white/asian students. I picked electronic synthetic since it is the only kind of music i have ever worked on.
I also was at a wedding(many weddings, most of my friends are getting married/ finally growing up) and at this table there were people in their 20’s and 30’s some people in their 20’s having a debate about e40 and none of the millennials in their 30’s, including me knew who he was.
Who was IP banned?
me
They say that once you get to around 25 years old or so, you basically stop listening to new music. It sure has been the case for me. I am not even sure that I would classify the hip hop that has come out in recent years as the same genre of the hip hop from the 80s and 90s. The new stuff all sounds like diarrhea to me!
Nope. There is precisely one person who does IP bans around here, and I can assure you there was no IP ban directed at you. That said, I suppose it's not impossible that you use the same IP as one that was banned when used by spammers, or even that the incorrect IP was banned. If you want to PM me the IP, I can have a look and probably remove it.
There have been times that I have had a VPN program turned on and happened to log onto this site, and it said that I was IP banned. It went away when I turned the VPN off.
I imagine if somebody wanted to ban you for real, they would have banned your account and not do the roundabout IP ban which is very easily circumvented these days.
I use vpn and get the same thing when I try and log on. I hit pause on the vpn then log in fine. And I remain logged in after the pause has ended
I wasnt even getting to the site. I tried a few things like restarting browser, different browser, clear history/cache, change dns. I even opened my old computer and got the same. yet I could access on my phone data and via hotspot. it was like this for hours.
now I just reconnected through my router and it works. I dunno.
oh I also tried a free vpn and I got to 2p2 and didnt get the "site cant be reached" message and actually got to 2p2 but it said the IP was banned.
That's not even a little shocking. I'm sure a lot of free VPNs get used by spammers and get them banned. Spammers - this is why we can't have nice things. :(
As for not even getting to the site, I have no idea unfortunately. An IP ban won't kick in until you actually get to the site.
no the free vpn thing was not shocking. but for hours I did not get to the 2p2 site at all and just got this:
same on an old computer and on my phone. meanwhile I used my phone data and it worked. then I used a free vpn and it worked but I got the IP ban message.
