Complete Turnover

Hi!

I visited H&F before but didn't feel it concerned me. Now that has changed. Trying to pop up what's left of my life. Some background: I quit nicotine in 1992. After that some attempts in leading a healthier life, regularly irregular. Got a gym card maybe ten years ago, sometimes didn't go there for a couple of years. I once dropped 10 lbs in one month counting calories for real, wasn't sustainable.

Now there seems to be things happening on a more prolonged, hopefully permanent basis. I left the car at home 1.5 years ago when going to work, for getting at least some exercise. Then I quit alcohol half a year ago. I did a health survey and found my blood pressure was a bit high. Decided to drop 20 lbs, have now been on vegetables and VLCD-drinks for a month. Got a small chock when checking the blood pressure, it had gone down to normal, must mainly be the smaller salt content? That was a huge unexpected bonus!

So there's 15 lbs left to drop, the reason is mainly the waistline. All this is very well, but now I've decided to go to the gym every day for one hour. I will regulate what I do there, for not getting overloaded. Mainly hoping the exercise will do some good for my psyche, I have a tendency for pondering things and getting tired. I chose one hour a day, because that's a substantial investment and practically what I can come up with.

Hi there!

Somehow lost it, apparently the time before retirement was particularly stressful, didn't stand on the scale for a loong time. 14 may 2023 was the last time, 85.4kg.

Started to feel something wasn't quite right, and climbed the scale just before Christmas, and unstandardized it was 95+kg! Knew I had gained some weight, but this was a chock. So very limited Christmas eating was ahead. Now weighing myself every morning the first thing I do. Gaining more than a kilogram per month, well...preferably never again.

Will limit my presentation to the new lows:
22.12: baseline 94.5kg
23.12: 93.3
24.12: 93.1
27.12: 93.0
31.12: 92.5
1.1: 92.1
4.1: 92.0
23.1: 91.1

The last came when intensifying as nothing seemed to happen, have stayed in the 91's since then. My goal is still 80kg. Maybe the eating less, vegetables and some walking still could take me there? Will try hard.

New low 91.0. I may or may not present every step 😀

90.8. When the method is the same, there often is that continuing losing weight in small steps. Could be around -1000 cal a day.

90.5. Partly fake, because of a little changed clothing. Will not compensate, we are talking bigger things, like there's 10kg left. Will make the daily weighing process as easy as possible, just watch the numbers.

90.3. Reporting only new lows is kind of unforgiving, because every weight until the next low is always disappointedly higher. But if keeping getting in the new lows with some frequency, I will ultimately reach the goal, and that is reassured sure.

90.0kg, yess! Really turned down eating yesterday, then you usually get a fast, if temporary, result. During this it really helps I've been walking about one hour a day, emptying a small storage nearby. Keeps some muscles and burning an additional couple of hundred calories.

Exactly ten kilograms to go!

89.9. Welcome back, weights starting with an 8! Somehow feels the belly really has taken a step backwards.

89.8. Slowly getting there. A bit too cold for those longer walks right now, but trying to eat even a little less...

89.6. Got a mild flu, maybe should eat a little more today?

Feed a cold, starve a fat ass

Cold and cold, both gone. Think I burned 70 grams of fat yesterday just by walking.

89.6 again. Have been hoovering around 90 for a week. Usually when hitting the same low the second time it means more (less)

89.3. This is working!

89.3 again. Looking forward to that 88.

89.2. Two months in I've lost more like half a kilogram a week than a full. That's ok, even if trying for more. Read somewhere 0.5/week could be more sustainable.

89.2 again. So the 88 isn't far away?

88.9, finally! Think from now on I will report only single new lows, not when repeated. Say I'll lose an average of 200 grams between them, even that would mean some half a hundred reports before I'm 80 kilograms.

88.8. Three eights.

88.4! Sometimes the chunks are bigger. And now the belly profile clearly looks leaner. Could even leave it at this, but no.

87.6, now THIS was a drop! So being halfway to 80, I rejoice.

87.5. Was worried yesterday with a weight well over 88, had eaten some more. Checking the weight daily is very good, you can fight shadows at times, but it can help you take some additional action.

87.4. Direction right , but need to get that walking going again after I emptied the storage, final half of it by car.

86.7, wow! For the first time it feels the end goal is there somewhere. The great question is how frequently I will check the weight when at 80. As weight gain really looks to be a problem maybe just standing on that scale after waking up is possible?

86.5. Nice to lose some three days in a row.
