The less Oakland fans in Las Vegas the better we have enough already with the football team.

The Trop is a horrible location. Everyone knows they belong at the Rio but nobody wants to admit this. A **** team that can't break .500 is not what we need. Stay in Oakland.

The A’s at the Trop location would be awesome. A baseball stadium right on the Strip would be amazing.

And while it would be preferable to get an expansion team it’s probably best to manage expectations here on two fronts

1) how long until possibly get an expansion team? A decade or more? Or never?

2) vast majority of mlb teams are running around wasting time. Vegas isn’t a big market. Won’t be able to realistically compete with the big boys. That’s just the way baseball is. Although the A’s have had some years where they over performed

But just being able to go to MLB games would be great, see other teams and their stars, and bad baseball teams don’t get blown out every game

I don’t really want to see the A’s move. But this attittude is very silly.
The A’s were well above .500 in 4 of the last 6 seasons. They were only tanking this past year to convince everyone to let them move.

Baseball teams can turn around very quickly. My own team (Orioles) went from being the worst team in the AL to the best team in just two years. The Rangers won the World Series this year after losing 94 games the year before.

Yeah I didn’t know how good until I check, for three straight years they had .599, .599, and a .600 winning percentage

And I agree they were kind of tanking recently

Baseball is a dying sport. Younger generations don’t care about it. 10 years after the stadium is built it will be almost 2040. How popular will baseball be by then?

And now the regular season means less than ever with the number of teams they let into the playoffs.

The A’s tank more than any team in the league though. This isn’t new for them.

Sadly it still makes them better than the Raiders who just suck every year. At least the A’s are occasionally very good before they lose all the good players and tank again.

i love baseball and even i agree with this. and in ten years they'll probably have 16 teams in the playoffs.

Chatter/rumor in a forum. That's why I asked here, figured someone might have heard something.

For this the A's would have to spend a lot of money. I don't see it. Don't forget the Knights made it to the finals first year. only missed the playoffs once and won all the marbles within 5 years. Raiders have made the playoffs or at least are scaring it. A's can't come here and stink up the joint. That arena will be empty very soon.

Raiders also only have 8/9 home games a year and basically all on Sunday. Even if they suck the arena is half filled with fans of the other team anyway in their weekend Vegas trips.

A's won't have that luxury with 81 home games.

Well as previously discussed the A’s really haven’t spent that much money in past but still haven’t stunk up the joint.

That stadium is going to be very popular on the Strip. Prices will be cheaper than the Knights and Raiders. Lots of tourists will be going to those games. It’s also not going to have a very large capacity

Employees will get 2k per year they worked at Tropicana for severance pay. Some have been there for 30 years.

10k seats are more than enough for the A's.

Whoever owns Tropicana is jumping the gun without cast in stone contracts. Another rumor I read was Salt Lake City. It would suck to shut down the Trop, fire all those people, and then find out the deal is off.

Salt Lake City is in the running as a temporary home from 2025 to 2028. Their goal is to prove they're a viable candidate for an expansion team when the league goes to 32 teams.

To be clear, none of the current speculations from credible sources involve the A's not moving to Las Vegas. That deal has already been approved. Something absolutely dramatic would have to happen for them to stay in Oakland or move somewhere else. The unresolved questions aren't about Vegas as a city but about where they will play. There are several other options with the most obvious alternative site in the area of the Rio.

The Tropicana is over 60 years old and had one mayor remodel over the last 30+ years. I stayed there for a couple days soon after they reopened in early 2011 and really liked what they did but it was obvious that wouldn't last forever. That casino was going to be replaced sooner than later with or without an MLB ballpark.
