ex-President Trump

ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:

a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?

b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

Quick, lozen, better google what Fox News has to say on the matter!

You aren't very much up to date if you didn't realize fox news is very anti trump today

LOL What a cluster****. Trust leftists to take what was meant to be a perfectly stage managed show trial against their political enemy and **** it up

What about the absolute disgrace of us being in 2024 without all these cases being resolved?

Why did those bad faith democrats wait until late to start proceedings?

I fail to see how these are related to my comment.

That if you accept a delay is a bad outcome, you should be even more enraged about the fact they waited 2 years to start proceedings. Why weren't they ready the day of Biden inauguration?

by Slighted P

so every employer/employee relationship is illegal? again how does that affect a case where they are on the same side of the aisle? or just ones you don't like?

i worked with both a married couple and a set of siblings at a prosecution office, should all of their cases have been thrown out?

eta- to be clear i would absolutely love a world where we thought nepotism was corruption.. but we dont live in that world.

I thought the majority of people did believe that. Or at least the majority of people who aren't 'nepo babies'.

It is bad that they have been delayed so long, but part of the problem I has been Trump and his lawyers trying to stretch out proceedings as long as possible.

Obviously .
Blaming democrats is hilarious .

The indictments in the Georgia case happened in August 2023 lol

In a 483-page filing, Trump’s attorney Drew Findling urged a state court in Georgia to prohibit an Atlanta-area district attorney there from filing charges related to Trump’s bid to subvert the 2020 election.

The DA, Fani Willis, has spent the last year leading a “special purpose grand jury” investigation into efforts by Trump to convince state officials to throw out Joe Biden’s victory in Georgia, as well as his broader efforts to subvert his defeat in the presidential election.

I was thinking of all the different cases against Trump.

I don't know why this indictment took so long, but it can't be all blamed on democrats. The governor and secretary of state involved are republican.

Well, based on the above post it looks like Trump had something to do with stalling the process, as I had suspected.

Again, what does this have to do with my comment? Who's to say I'm not "enraged" as I only spoke to lozen's take on Willis gettin' jiggy with the guy she hired to prosecute the case.

There probably are some Democrats trying to time these things for political reasons. Regardless, Trump did election interference and the Georgia call was not only an incredibly clear abuse of power it was moronic. Trump is an imbecile.

Yeah. Since it's on tape and I think 100% of the population would agree it's illegal for a politician you do not support to call state election officials and ask them to find votes it seems straightforward. But it's also completely new and it's not like they can go back and review the hundred other cases where a sitting POTUS tried to rig an election or hire someone registered to practice in GA that has tried dozens of former presidents for election rigging. You basically have to get it right in 1 shot and everything you do will be under the full scrutiny of the legal community all the way up to the supreme court.

Trump had nothing to do with this. It was one of the codefendants that dug up this information on the DA and brought it up. This case could proceed and all it would take is for the DA to step aside

Does the fact that she hired the man that did noy have any experience in this type of case have an effect on how they try the case ? Nope . The question is did she break state law by giving the job to her boyfriend and than paying him over $600,000 which he than used to take her on a vacation or two legal.

This case I think hurts Trump most as its televised and everyone gets to hear the testimony of the folks that struck a deal. My guess that testimony will be very damaging

by lozen P

Iโ€™m not sure how many times I have to repeat I think Trump is deplorable but I donโ€™t have much good to say about Biden

Yeah, c'mon guys, Lozen's on your side here, he really despises Trump...

by lozen P

I will be dancing in the streets ( living room ) when Trump wins and Democrats as clueless as they are go how ?

Ever heard the term lesser of two evils ?

In a perfect world neither runs but sadly the USA is stuck with both

by Luciom P

except that it was the way the USA were governed till late 19th century but ye sure

Go take a look at how many counties the eastern half of the country is chopped up into--thousands. Our ancestors mostly wanted the govt nice and close by like a warm baby blanket. The general standard was something like shooting for having everyone within a 1day ride to the county seat.

The western ~half was bought with collective funds and a huge amount given away for effectively free, surrounded with state schools/colleges etc. And guess who then bought a hell of a lot of what was produced? The govt ๐Ÿ˜€ Feeding armies and supplying reservations. Naturally old timey organized crime rings developed all over the place too. The good old days were bigly libertarian and just peachy pov really doesn't withstand much scrutiny. The country was settled in large part because of govt involvement not in spite of it. Roads, security, postal services etc Texas is a good example the first private shots failed--then they came back with the govt/army and it got done.

Could you go way out west and be largely left alone? Sure. But way back in the day the pop. was frigging tiny--with an insane amount of land. Counties are generally much larger out west--in part because no one was hardly there. And not because they were teenage ACers chatting on the internet who wouldn't last a week in the bush ๐Ÿ˜€

Why don't you work on changing wherever you're at instead of worrying about us.

It's more that literate liberals made him how he is. He's not really a full competent adult responsible for his own behavior. A classic in modern conservatism.

If you can't get the fact that I will not be dancing in my living room but will say ]Well democrats you got what you deserved shame on me As well if Trump losses I will say Man you guys are fools you had such an easy election to win

It just baffles me why many of you are to blind or maybe to stupid to see why folks will still vote for Trump over Biden

I think they say the same thing on the other side ….
And when u look at all the conspiracy theories they believe in , climate change not being real, election was stolen by fraud , anti abortion to the core, wanting a theocracy and thought trump was good for them while not doing much for them and certainly no different then Biden on the fiscal side , maybe u should look around and rethink on why your on that side ….

Fwiw , I think the center of today (ancient republicans early 2000) and democrats aren’t blind on why the leftover vote for trump , we just think their just too illiterate to not vote for trump since they can’t discern when they are lied too.
And u can’t use reason with illiterate people.
They are just screwed and so they will still dominate the poorest states in the country for a very long time forward shrug.

If it wasn't in large part the same people who voted for McCain, then Romney and who also vote for non trumpian republican candidates when available, you might have a point.

But it's the same people, for the very large part.

"Illiterate people" lol, more than half of all college graduate men (all races combined, not whites only) voted for trump even in 2020 when he lost resoundingly.

As long as you consider "the absolute majority of engineers in the country" "uneducated leftovers" (they vote republican) you won't understand anything about american politics tbh.

Yes, we are the โ€œ maybe to stupidโ€ crowd. You canโ€™t make this **** up.

It baffles me that anyone would be stupid enough to vote for Trump over Biden.

Who could possibly be surprised? Trump has dominated 3 primaries wire to wire spanning almost a decade. If he wins it's obviously because he's very much the kind of president republicans want. Which probably also explains the extremely low GDP per capita poor healthcare, education etc in most solidly red states.
