US Immigration Crisis
I didn’t see an immigration thread so I figured I would add one. This problem seems to be worsening everyday of the current admin. Hopefully some of our new elected officials can help with this. Mr. Luttrell is a great start
It's so funny that people think that people that are against ILLEGAL immigration are against immigration in general. That's so far from the truth

I am not sure were you got your number from but that still says a majority of Republicans feel that we do not need to lower legal immigration

No. Some said they do not know/have no opinion. A majority that have an opinion think it needs to be lowered.
Trump blocked H1B Visas too. The notion that Republicans want legal immigration is either complete nonsense or they are just so dumb that they vote for people who oppose it anyway.
because the republican politicians and a lot of their constituency don't believe that.

Well, I think a lot of Republicans, ones actually in power, do really want immigration and illegal immigration in particular because it's a great very exploitable labor force for many industries and not just agriculture. Legal status would just mean higher wages and employee protection.

Probably 1% or less want open borders and most of those people identify as libertarian.

1929 was when the USA decided to block Mexicans. Of course that sort of racist/fascist immigration policy goes back to the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882.
As if the Chinese immigrants (notably building the rail network) weren't absolutely one of the most crucial parts of building so much of the future wealth and success of the USA.
Italy, in particular and maybe second only to Japan, is absolutely ****ed without immigration.
There are like twice as many 50 year olds as people being born. The median age is 48.1 years old, behind only a couple microscopic countries and Japan. In 30 years, when all those 50 somethings are going to be 80 something, it's going to be ugly.
Imagine being Italian and against immigration.
It would be interesting to see the wording of the question asking people if they want to increase immigration.
I would think if it said something like "do you think we should increase legal immigration?" most people (rebup & dem) would say no. However, if you said "Are you in favor of increasing legal immigration if you were guaranteed the government could get a handle on illegal immigration even if that meant a net increase in immigration?" I think most people would say yes.
