Is that a choice on the ballot for President?

Yes they had "none of these candidates" as an available choice and more than 60% of people chose that.

It's becoming abundantly clear at this point that I'm an idiot and there will be no GOP movement or white knight to ride in and save the country from Trump v Biden Part Two: Electric Boogaloo.

My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

60% of the people got in their car and drove to a place to vote "none of these", presumably because they just weren't allowed to write Trump in. We're in the end times.

We had the same with Berlusconi for what the "right" in Italy was (a variant of the center left, but i digress). Until Berlusconi held any significant power it was impossible to compete. He had this special charisma which attracted people otherwise rarely interested by the right (in Italy the stereotype was the "Voghera housewife", ie the uneducated 50y+ married woman, which would have typically voted christian center).

There will be a right after Trump in the USA but only if he goes to jail or becomes too sick to be able to coalesce significant amount of voters around him

It was the Republican primary which the party announced they were not even going to recognize. The caucus is tomorrow. Only notable people on the primary ballot were Haley and Pence. Haley is not on the caucus ballot.

Caring about the national interest is not a high bar. Every president in my lifetime except for Trump cared about the national interest. I am not suggesting that every decision those presidents made in fact furthered the national interest. And occasionally, presidents intentionally act in a way that is contrary to the national interest. Clinton lying under oath would be an example.

But all those presidents distinguished between the nat

Can you name 5 or so things you believe trump did that show he acted against the national interest?

Montreal, if you want to discuss how a president who had the best opportunity in our lifetime to extend his power failed to do so and in fact fought hard against federal government overreach is going to take a 180 and want to run the world I think you will get more traction in the conspiracy theory thread. I think the odds of this happening are slightly worse than the odds of big foot, an alien and a t-rex landing in a UFO in your backyard and inviting you onto the UFO to fly around for a bit, but you can discuss both of these things in the conspiracy theory thread.

We still don't even know if Trump will be allowed to run in several states

I know dems are scared of the will of the people, but even they know taking democracy off the ballot will likely end the dem party as we know it. They could maybe save the party in 10 or so years by splitting off and saying banning a political opponent from being on a ballot is anti-democracy and the new splintered party could be called "Democrats for Democracy".

Okay, so it's a shitshow in Nevada then.

Good luck, Ryan Binkley, whoever you are.

For you, always and forever. Thank God.

Sure. In an attempt to generate support for his border policy, he intentionally used language that was intended to generate animus against people that didn't deserve animus.

He deliberately courted the support of white supremacists and other groups that occupy the gutter of American society.

He actively and with no basis undermined public confidence in election results.

He normalized lying to a degree that I would have thought impossible for a president.

From the beginning of his administration, he prioritized personal loyalty to him over competence when selecting his cabinet and staff. By the end of his term, loyalty and subservience seemingly were the only criteria for most positions.

He did everything in his power to undermine and eliminate the independence of the DOJ. He wasn't entirely successful, but it wasn't for lack of trying.

Don't forget trying to get dirt on a political opponent from another foreign leader by threatening to withhold congress approved aid. And lying about it. And obstruction. Well the second two were continuing themes.

What the actual ****.

I just googled this and video existed before the 2016 election. I'd never heard this. Instant disqualification.

I disagree the 5 points you listed are a weakening of national interest.

Want actual trump actions that undermined American interest?

1) tariffs with Europe over the inane airbus/Boeing controversy
2) the freaking credible threat of not using article 5 of NATO to defend a NATO country that doesn't spend 2% of GDP for defense
3) no ambassador to UK, s Korea for a long while (jfc)
4) related to 3) a severe annihilation of the State department, treated as a useless thing while it is one of the most important role of government even under minarchism
5) he treated actual enemies better than allies in the public sphere constantly

As for #3 that should be the policy if you do not contribute 2% we will not defend you . The thing is all the other countries know the USA loves war and will defend them Ukraine should be Europe's problem

As for #5 a few of the countries openly mocked Trump at Official Functions and deserved it

100% agree on this.

Can you be more specific as this doesn't ring a bell. I know there was a buzz back then that he said essentially some mexicans are better than other mexicans, but that shouldn't qualify as language intended to do anyone harm.

by Rococo k

Can you be specific on what he was doing to court white supremacists?

by Rococo k

He actively and with no basis undermined public confidence in election results.

I agree he used the dem playbook on this one by trying to convince others to question an election. However, to be fair to him we know that it was not a fair election and dems colluded with the intelligence committee and the press to lie to make joe more electable.

Welcome to politics my friend. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but this is extremely normally at every level of politics all across the globe. The people that don't know politicians lie are the same people who believe in the Easter Bunny.

Lol baham .
U say it’s a conspiracy yet it’s all former trump advisors that say so and openly say it !
Now u think it’s conspiracy or they lie !
U chose .
I rather wish they lie but unfortunately I think they really meant it !

I understand claiming "rigged elections" can always make some political sense when results are close.

But man Trump lost by a truckfull of votes in too many states.

Let's buy the idea Georgia was stolen (it is actually possible, I don't deny that as a conspiracy theory).

Even with that and Wisconsin (I again accept, as a theoretical possibility , some wild claims about dead people voting in Wisconsin) he still loses the election.

Do you really think they stole republican governed AZ and PA as well? I don't tbh.

If instead you mean they tried to control the narrative... I mean everyone does that's not stealing that's the game

That was back when Canada's military was respected and don't get me wrong the men and women that serve now are highly respected but our troops are depleted, our equipment is outdated and we do a crappy job taking care of our veterans.

Were actually cutting a billion back from defense
