Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
I've seen it worded 3 different ways
As part of its proposal, Hamas said it wanted influence over protocols allowing Jewish entry into the Temple Mount complex, a contested holy site in Jerusalem that includes Al-Aqsa mosque, an official familiar with the deal told Haaretz
Everyone understands that to be deciding Jews can't get in. But you can play word gymnastics all over that. I've seen a few Hebrew versions where it's a bit more clearly defined.
To be clear Bill, it's not a real consideration anyway, in the sense that they knew when they sent it that it was a no. They didn't think anyone would take that seriously. Same as nobody took "10 years" seriously.
I have said this before, but you really need to update your software. It isn't 1960 and Sinwar isn't Nasser.
Palestinian society has been heavily radicalized along fundamentalist Islamic lines in the last 80 years, and fundamentalist religion is very much an important aspect of their identity, culture and their current understanding of the conflict with the Yahood.
You attributing religious fetish to Israel, and completely hand waiving away the obvious reality that Palestinian society in 2024 is one of the most fundamentalist religious societies in the world today is frankly comical, and says a lot about your own deep seated prejudices.
Also, there have been many waves of immigration and emigration in the Levant over the last 1800 years (like much of the rest of the world). The idea there has been some fixed "Palestinian people" native to the land that have been there 2000 years, and that the Muslim Arabs living in Gaza and the West Bank, are the descendants of those people is not supported by historical or genetic evidence at all. Genetic records indicate that Christian Arabs and Beduins are the groups most indigenous to the region. And you are more likely to find one of them running a gas station in Chicago as you are living in Gaza or the West Bank.
Most of the Muslim Arab population has lots of gene flow from more recent waves of immigration from Egypt, Arabia and Iran.
What an interesting bedfellow, rafiki et al
Hey cool the race science guy is back.
I am not aure you understood that line, it means there are more Palestinians outside Palestine than in Palestine
rumours that qatar, at the insistence of the united states, are about to send a polite request to the hamas leadership - that they check out of their nice hotels and go on a permanent holiday. yemen is nice this time of year.
another terrible day for hamas and their supporters itt
Would be a shame if they had some kind of accident while in transit to their new accommodations. Cruise missiles are in the forecast this time of year.
Word is Hamas’ proposal was so insulting the Egyptians and Qataris both felt embarrassed and pissed off.
Yeah
Qatar wants a deal and wants to be a hero.
Egypt just wants the war to stop
Hamas ... still wants no Israel

Since there are people itt calling Israel white colonizers and claiming they can tell an Israeli from a Palestinian...

Israel-Gaza war: US says it will not back unplanned Rafah offensive
I'd say the ratio of the white looking Israeli's to non-white looking Israeli's in my travels (having never been to Israel but Israelis travel latin America well) is about 3:2.
*Maybe 3:1 I'm forgetting some white ones
Who is saying this? You keep bringing it up once a week and I have no clue where you get it from.
I believe it's pointlesswords or whatever their names were
Since you think I'm making it up Trolly
They won't stop it though
What about Italians? Just to understand what your threshold is for "white looking"
Fine, one guy is saying this, can you put him on ignore or something?
I did
But this article came up to show how stupid his comments were and I'm not allowed to post it?
You have posted 1000 times asking how many Palestinians have to die but i can't beat a dead horse?
I guess you're allowed to nurse this grievance as long as you please.
What is Italy became a Muslim dominated country for 1,000 years and then some Italians from around the world came and took over the Vatican and returned catholism to be the dominate religion and made their own state. Would that simply be conquerers or recolonized or what?
