Hey everybody,
playing WSOP ME this year. Coming from germany.
Played some WSOP events in the last years....but I cant remember:-)
Is it possible to walk-in on day 4, make a caesar reward card, pay cash and register?
Or do I have to do some prior registrations?
Arriving on 4th, so I dont have much time for organization.
Thx.
Well, you arriving on the 4th (day 81B) means that you could play 81C the next day or wait for 81D the day after to overcome your jet lag. I don't see a problem with you getting a reward card and registering/buying in. Good luck.
This is always goofy....I ALWAYS have this exact same issue . It should be 2 days BUT I personally have to stay away 3 when booking online. Others like River and Asa have no problem with the official 48 hour rule.
I suggest you book it online then change it with a call direct to the Property. Inconvenient but it works
So its possible to walk in and pay by cash?
No preparations?
If you have players card , sure just go to cashiers and register.
If you don’t have a player’s card , get the card and go to cashier!!
The rule is 48 hours, but who knows if the online computer system has issues or not. Their system is pretty bad. It could be that it gets confused when you make a second booking at the same property. I wonder if there would be any difference booking the first week and then trying to book the second week, instead of in reverse like you did here.
Anyhow, I almost always book through a rep because then I can pick the advantageous nights to use comps on rather than use the online system which just picks the first x nights to use comps on.
There may be a difference in the type of Rep you get based on Diamond vs Diamond+ status. I don't think this was the case prior to the El-Dorado acquisition, but it may very well be now.
If you're going to be there for a few days, Walmart also has a small microwave for 55 bucks. If you get a few day's worth of use out of it, you could probably just leave it there.
You can buy a 5 cup coffee maker from Walmart for $10 or a 6 cup Mr Coffee $20
I bring one with me.
All you need is a current reward card and $10,000 USD
So if you are traveling with Euros not USD you'd need to convert the currencies first. Other than that buying in is very simple. Cashing gets trickier due to tax laws but as I recall the rules were on the WSOP site last year.
Just got my Diamond status renewed. Was offered the same price for a room at Paris as I paid for Horseshoe. Cancelled Horseshoe and booked the Paris room for a week.
Good call on the switch or is Horseshoe being a bit closer to the action a better choice? I’ve never stayed at Paris but hear it’s better than Horseshoe as far as quality is concerned.
Paris is better quality rooms and day 1s might be in Paris anyway.
Thx for your helpful reply.
Yes, this was the way I register side events and DSE in the last years.
Registration information left me a little bit confused.
I can change eur in usd from friends coming back from vegas...so its very easy...think i still have an old reward card:-)
Yeah, cashing will be a problem. Last cash in Venetian was 2k and no problem. Hope they will have an tax agent at the wsop this year:-)
You may already have an account, but technically, Caesar’s reward status expires each year. Regardless, you will want to get a new card when you show up. You just have to go to the Caesars Rewards desk and show your id and they will print a new card. They may even have kiosks for this sort of thing now, but they probably only work with US drivers licenses.
I don’t think the WSOP will have someone there to help with taxes, but there is usually a company advertising such services in a kiosk in the hall. Don’t forget to bring a second document (like a recent utility bill with a matching address on it). I’ve seen conflicting info as to whether this is necessary, but it can’t hurt.
If you have an ITIN, I don’t think the WSOP will withhold taxes from residents of a tax-treaty country, like Germany. So you’ll probably be able to collect the full payout amounts. If you don’t have an ITIN, you can apply for one during the WSOP, but I know there have been issues in the past with obtaining one in a timely fashion. And you may have to pay the withholding tax and then apply for reimbursement. You can Google “WSOP ITIN” and find a lot more recent info.
I have a question. If you are staying at the Linq and you want to get over to the WSOP using the monorail, how long would this take including the walking and monorail time, literally hotel room to WSOP tournament section?
You are probably better off walking. I think the best route would be to walk the strip and when you get to Cromwell walk through the casino as the back end spits you out across the street from an entrance to Bally's with a cross walk across Flamingo to boot.
The green line is rough location of crosswalk.
I just stayed at the Linq and did this walk a few times to get the the poker room. From a time standpoint maybe 15 minutes.
Bonus for coffee drinkers - there are two cafe's right outside the elevators to access Linq rooms. One is a Dunkin Donuts. Download the app to avoid lines(assuming the app works at this location as I never tried it).
Just be careful crossing the street from the Cromwell to the Horseshoe. Depending on where you cross, there can be a few ways that cars can come from that may not be obvious, and some people like to speed around on that road.
Last year it took me about 12 minutes to get from Harrah's parking garage to Horseshoe, and that was using the pedestrian bridge, which is a safer but slower alternative to crossing Flamingo.
Micks right, that is one place you should observe the crosswalk even if it adds a minute. Normal traffic and visitors pulling out of Horseshoe valet which is 50 yds away can create traffic that you easily might not realize is coming. Bad place to jaywalking or get impatient.
Definitely look both ways before crossing and be aware of your surroundings. Cars routinely run the red light at that crosswalk. Especially cars exiting the Cromwell parking garage, or the HS valet from the other side. If Vegas put up cameras at that crosswalk and started ticketing folks for running the light, I think it would pay for all the F1 construction.
I've never had issues there, but you guys are making me re-think my route!
I personally don't like walking through the shops on the other side if the bridge and feel the bridge itself adds a couple minutes, but it's definitely safer.
If you use back door of Cromwell, there is traffic light crossing to Horseshoe.
I used that for many many times with no problems.
I wouldn’t cross that section without green light!!
I appreciate the thorough answer and map, but I was specifically wondering about use of the monorail for that exact route, or at least the time it takes from Linq hotel room to Linq monorail station, and then from Horseshoe monorail station down to WSOP area. Because basically it's going to be a guarantee to use a monorail pass for the duration of the trip, so might as well use it when possible.
In six words, you just summarized why the monorail proved to be such a taxpayer boondoggle.
The distance between Linq and Horseshoe is less than 0.5 miles. It takes exactly less than 10 minutes to walk . In order to take monorail you will walk little more both ways if I remember correctly.
The only times I found the monorail is MGM to Horseshoe for the wsop. Anything else doesn't save time really.
