saying, "sorry, we're full," is only idiotic if you look at it through the lens that you have chosen to, which is that there is plenty of space available. if you look at it from a resource perspective----namely housing--- it's pretty obvious that we are about at full capacity. take a look at rent prices in cities that actually have decent jobs available.

in the cities that drive our economic growth we simply do not have enough housing. if we did the rent prices wouldn't be as absurd as they are.

but lets just go with the "plenty of space" argument.

who's gonna pay to build homes in all this empty space? who's going to create jobs in north dakota? who's going to pay for the health care all these immigrants will need? how about educating them so they can actually be suitable for jobs?

sure, lets just raise taxes and save the world while our own people end up homeless.

I'm in constuction industry and majority of our crew are latinos who are awesome people. however they came here, they are now legal and carry union cards and pay dues. they strive to learn english. quite honestly they are my favorite people to be around.

they also came here with a plan. had jobs lined up and places to stay. they didnt camp out at airports and wait to be housed.

A reminder to a fellow guy who shares a lot of my values: push as hard as you can with other right-wing people to make it far easier for the good guys to get into the USA, and get citizenship after they reach your country.

As you correctly assess the hard working latino immigrants to be among the best people you can meet, you should desperately want them to be able to become Americans asap, once they prove their worth.

If that comes to pass it should be easier to be extremely severe in dealing with all the rest of the people trying to come in, the illegals or even the legal ones who don't fit, and to create conditions that allow for their quick deportation

Hard working immigrants are inherently more rightwing than normal people. They are more ambitious, more willing to take risks, more dependant on their own force of Will for everything good that happened in their lives.

Of course they are rightwing, that's what being rightwing is about.

They also usually come from more socially conservative countries so their basic feeling about social topics is a tad to the right of the host country.

But on the economics, they are truly rightwing. They flee hellholes where state failures determined poverty was everywhere. They often flee actually communist countries, or countries that at least flirted with socialism.

They know those ideas are the worst possible for a society, they paid their price personally.

Hard working immigrants are natural right wing voters.

They also personally know more people who suck at the tits of the welfare system, which they personally fund with hard work, and they hate them more than you or me can ever do, they talk with them every day.

The notion that the USA is full is so ridiculous and based on cowardly racism that that was absolutely a fair response. No economist in the world thinks that immigration is some threat to the US in any god damned way.

First google result from an economist who says the net winners of immigration are corporate owners (yay?) and net losers are native black and hispanics and the working class tax payers as a whole.

The corporations that employ people who make the products you consume which cost less because of it? The people immigrating or not can stay where they are and be exploited at work or come to the US and be exploited at work. I love freedom and think people should get to choose.

Yeah, there are winners and losers, but open borders being a huge net economic boon is a slam dunk. That's not why I'm for it. I'm for it because I love freedom and I don't want to pay people with guns to shoot or arrest innocent people who are mostly just looking for work, but it's true nonetheless.

what economic boon are you talking about? a neutral, respected economist stated its essentially break even. more doesnt mean better. want to live in india or denmark?
